Just to get an idea of what she had to deal with, I included a picture of (one of three) piles of transactions that needed to be digitalized.  Trust is also a major factor for me when it comes to sharing financial information, and even though I know her from before, she still had no issue/wasn't offended by my asking to provide references, which was appreciated, and the references couldn't stop raving about her professional bookekeeping skills.  With her help, my books are perfectly neat, and it's easy to pay our bills on time. I also finally have a handle on our budget and an overall view of our expenses via her easy to interpret reports. I also appreciate the quick responses to all of my calls and texts. With the easy-to-interpret monthly reports, I've already saved a good deal of money and time, no longer confuse personal and business expenses, and taxes are a breeze. Couldn't be more disheartened and disappointed in the service I received. I reached out to McRea Woodson asking if they had availability to do my taxes this year and was met with a yes, they had availability. Communication was great, until I paid them my retainer fee. As soon as I paid them, and submitted my information in early February, I spent a month and a half trying to get in contact with them. Sent multiple emails that went unanswered. Some were responded to by just saying "you're on my list to call", not answering any of my inquiries, yet, still never received a call. I was unable to access my portal to upload more information needed for submission so had concerns on how to send them the information needed, I heard nothing back. It's interesting because as mentioned earlier, my parents used them for their taxes as well, so I was able to gauge if they had the same experience. Nope, they turned their information in late yet they still got phone calls and emails and their taxes completed before mine. Once I finally got the notification that my taxes were done, it was 630pm on April 14th and I owed quite a bit. No communication, just a document and what to pay. I called them begging for a call back, and nothing. I ended up owing for the first time ever (which is no fault to them but something I'm keeping in mind). Communication was so bad, I even ended up having to ask my mom to remind them that I still existed and needed help. Did that reminder bother to have them call me? No. I've used other companies in the past and have never had an experience like this. I feel like they could have been okay, had they cared even a little bit about me. Maybe somewhere down the line, I was deemed as someone less significant than other people? Or maybe they viewed me as needy and didn't want to communicate with me because of that? I just wanted to make sure I provided everything that they needed. Either way, it would have been nice to be communicated with and treated with a little more dignity. I don't know their work load or how many customers they had to serve during this hectic time, I don't mind that my taxes weren't completed until the very last second (even though a little more time would have been nice), but it's the lack of communication over something this significant, that can have huge consequences for me, is what really concerns me. Since I never received a phone call back after asking/begging them to call me back, I wasn't able to express this and offer some feedback on their professionalism or business acumen. So this review is what I feel like I'm forced to do since this is my only option as a customer at this point. Be weary in hiring them for your taxes, especially if you're someone who has questions or may need guidance. Communication is minimal at best.
