I have an IT consulting business with about 35 employees. I've gone through what I think is the normal progression of book keeping over the years starting with myself doing it all in Quickbooks to hiring an outside book keeper to,finally, hiring Profitwise. They do it all for me - payroll, invoicing, reconciliation, tax filings, and more. It is the best decision I ever made. I don't have to worry, our clients get their invoices more timely, less money leakage to missed tax filings/late invoices, and work with multiple states on taxes. I get to spend more time doing my actual work! They are very responsive and don't let tasks drop. I worked with profitwise for about a year, and decided to find a more responsive and personal approach with a private bookkeeper. The people at profitwise were very nice, and I had found them here on yelp via the very few but very high review scores. They helped me establish my corporation, and that went fine. But we seem to have some communication difficulties, and long story short - I didn't get my 2014 P&Ls complete until the end of the year, 7 months after I'd hired them. I did have a few accounts to track, and we had to go back and forth a lot clarifying things but I never dreamed it would be so long. In many ways, I felt more out of touch from my accounts than before I'd hired them. Now I'm working with a new bookkeeper, who seems way more tuned into my Internet business with different revenue streams and the need for staying in close touch with my books. We are establishing different categories for different revenue streams, and that makes it much easier for me to track my business. I don't enjoy writing lukewarm reviews. Since I signed up with profitwise based on most entirely on the stellar yelp reviews, I felt that it was only fair to touch back in and let you know that they might not be the best fit for you if you need a lot of personal attention, or if your business is a fast-paced Internet services type of business like mine with different revenue streams that should be tracked separately, or if you want someone to really proactively update you. Because, honestly, I wish this review would've been there before I signed up with Profitwise. They are very nice people but they were not a fit, and I learned a big expensive lesson. read more

I'm the owner of an e-commerce company and Dave and his team have been a dream to work with! Originally I was worried that having multiple people on the team to handle my taxes might result in getting the runaround or just not having a point person to go to with questions. However, my experience was the entire opposite of my concerns! Everyone on the team is super responsive, including Dave himself! I cannot stress how much of a difference Dave and his team has made in my life and finally being able to find an accounting firm I can trust has really put me at ease. I run a virtual business & they are extremely familiar with all the hurdles I've had to clear. They've held my hand, given me instructions, returned phone calls and emails extremely fast. I contacted Profitwise based on some reasonably strong endorsements. I was contacted promptly and and interview was scheduled without fuss. I was then pounded by an over-enthusiastic email and physical marketing blitz in the time before my meeting. I don't mind taking time out of my day to meet a new service provider but I get really irritated when no one even bothers to follow up, provide a quote, or even thank me for my time to meet. UPDATE - I originally ranked this company at only 1 star due my initial experience. I have since discovered that a large part of my issue with them was an administrative oversight that has now been addressed. Not the agency for my business but may be fine for others. read more

After meeting with the owner Dave, I was very impressed by his knowledge and friendly manner.
