Roman and his team did a great job installing a couple attic and soffit vents for my roof. He was on time, worked quickly, and his prices were fair. I would use his services again.

Roman replaced some dry rot on my roofs rafters. Reasonable pricing. Great craftsmanship. I would recommend this business for friends and family. Excellent service.

    Washer/dryer area flooring

I can't begin to say enough great things about Roman and his excellent crew. We initially hired him to install wainscoting in an old bathroom with damaged wallpaper. He told us where to go to see what we wanted, then picked up everything himself. He was always punctual and came when he said he would come. The results were so professional, guests told me it looked like it had always been there. We also had him look at a wet wall in the downstairs bathroom while he was here. We knew we might have a problem, but we didn't know how bad it would be, with a broken sewer pipe he discovered behind it! Since we had discarded the old tiles a few years ago, he and his team ended up basically redoing almost everything, efficiently and with great attention to detail. The whole thing took about a week and a half, and on the last day of work on the bathroom, our funky washing machine gave a last gasp, leaking water all over the basement carpet. Roman didn't miss a beat and stepped right in to help us. Four days later now, we have new tiling on the floor of our washer/dryer area and new appliances coming tomorrow. Roman is a godsend. I am truly impressed. Thanks to all of you who wrote such good reviews here, since reading them prompted me to give him that initial call about the wainscoting. His fees are very reasonable, and I didn't feel like I had to go looking for other quotes for any of this. He kept us updated daily, would frequently check in, and gave us an accurate finish date for all three projects. On top of everything, he is a genuinely delightful guy, proud of his work, and a pleasure to work with.

I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

The store is unexpectedly massive with many great engineered hardwood flooring options. I arrived at the store in a mild crisis state as I was unhappy with the vinyl flooring selections our interior designer has recently picked out for the renovation of our house built during the Edwardian period. She picked this out because vinyl was "cost-friendly," but I quickly found out many great engineered hardwood sections that were cheaper and nicer looking than vinyl with TJ's help. TJ was chill, nice, and talked to my fiancé and me for two hours, educating us on engineered hardwood flooring and helping us pick out almost 4,000 sq ft of 4 different types of flooring for four different units to help us maintain the original beauty of the Edwardian building and stay under budget. We ended up saving over $10K switching from vinyl to engineered hardwood by purchasing from The Floor Store!

Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

Bailey was very approachable and knowledgeable. He provided stylistic and customized insights to help us create great designs for both the kitchen and the bathrooms. He helped us arrange for the kitchen cabinets, countertops, tiles, and many accessories, often following up with calls to confirm details with contractors. Everything turned out beautifully. KZ was one of the reasons my recent remodel finished in four weeks…read more I started at KZ early in the process after visiting a few other stores and feeling both underwhelmed by their selections and overwhelmed by figuring out what I actually needed. On that first visit I met Bailey, who ended up becoming a key part of the project. I came in with measurements from my contractor, rough layout ideas, and a general sense of what I wanted: drawers instead of mostly base cabinets, quartz countertops, and a way to turn a small, dysfunctional kitchen into something thoughtfully designed with proper prep space. Bailey took those requests and my contractor's initial mockups and developed a layout. I was immediately impressed by his thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He also included things I would not have known to ask for, including a blind corner pull out "peanut" cabinet that turned dead space into some of the most usable storage in the kitchen. He explained his decisions when asked and found solutions as needed, for example suggesting a microwave cabinet when I mentioned not knowing where to put that. I left excited about the project and hopeful it could actually come together. He was consistently responsive to my many questions afterward. He sent estimates for different options so I could compare costs, such as a 4-inch versus full-height backsplash, and shared renderings of the cabinet and countertop combination. Seeing the space rendered that early was a significant moment for me. His involvement continued well beyond placing the order. As the project progressed, Bailey made sure everything was delivered properly, communicated directly with my contractor, answered questions as they came up, kept suggesting ways to improve the project, and made sure everything was set up correctly for countertop templating. The fabricator, Rafael, was also excellent and did a beautiful job. He and Bailey suggested adding another slab of quartz so we could do a full waterfall on the exposed ends of the counter. I took their advice and I am very glad I did. It made a huge difference and made that part of the design feel complete. I was also happy with KZ's pricing and selection. I visited four cabinet and countertop stores, and KZ had the best overall selection I found. Their prices were extremely competitive without sacrificing features or quality. The cabinets have plywood boxes, soft-close doors and drawers, and full-extension drawers, and they arrived fully assembled rather than flat-packed. My contractor had specifically told me not to buy RTA cabinets and these were straightforward for him to install. All of my other interactions with KZ were positive too. Delivery drivers called ahead, other employees in the store were helpful, and the factory expedited part of my order for an additional charge when my fast schedule required it. One thing worth mentioning for anyone considering KZ is the type of experience they provide. This is not a full-service design firm where someone makes every selection and manages every detail for you. I had to be a little assertive on my first visit because there were a limited number of design/sales reps available, but once I connected with Bailey the experience was excellent. You will get the most out of KZ if you come in with measurements and some idea of what you want, are willing to look around and give input, and are okay following up with questions. When I did reach out, Bailey was very responsive. Some practical things to know: they do not offer financing, some costs such as fabrication are settled separately and in cash, and delivery is extra if you cannot pick up the order yourself. Mine was around $500 for 18 cabinets plus panels and hardware, delivered about an hour away. I think some of the savings come from this model, but it helps to have the right expectations. My entire remodel took about four weeks, including a full primary bathroom and extensive changes throughout the house, with the KZ order placed roughly one week before construction began. A lot of the credit goes to my excellent contractor, but KZ's responsiveness, timely deliveries, and efficient work were a major factor in keeping things moving. It was night and day compared with buying my other materials through large home improvement stores. When I had questions or concerns, it usually took a simple text to Bailey to resolve them. I am super happy with the finished kitchen and with my experience at KZ. I recommend them to anyone looking for cabinets or countertops, and I am especially grateful to Bailey and Rafael for how much care they put into my project.
