I reached out to several companies on a Sunday and by Monday had several responses from companies that were willing to stop by and provide a quote. Half Moon Gardening & Landscapes was one of three quotes I had by Tuesday afternoon. They were cheaper than one company and in line with another. The reason I decided to go with Half Mooon Gardening and Landscapes is the fact that they provided options from the start. In fact, they tried to push me towards the more affordable option which would have taken a little more time. Because the HOA wanted to see action within a couple weeks, I was not able to able to go with the more affordable option. Knowing that, Half Moon Gardening & Landscapes worked to get me on their schedule as soon as possible and three days later I had sod. The other companies did not offer options, and one even tried to tell me that my entire sprinkler system would need to be raised to a new height before the sod could be installed. What? I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm a woman but please, give me a little more credit than that. I knew full well it did not need to be raised to a new height. I highly recommend Half Moon Gardening for their quick response time, honesty and integrity, and quality of work. I have already scheduled ongoing maintenance with the company.

In fact, I met the owner, Dan Danner, when he first started out, back in his college days. I know a few of his employees by name since they have worked for him for over twenty years. Long story short, he treats his employees as well as as his customers. Although we have had a few minor issues over the decades, like sprinkler heads that were damaged during the mowing process, Dan has been quick to resolve complaints. Although we primarily use their mowing service, they also offer aeration, dethatching, junk removal and clean up.

I really wanted to like these guys, especially since Elio is the uncle of a friend. At first, I…read moreappreciated his honesty in telling me that (at the beginning of the summer season) he would just barely have time to squeeze in work on half my front yard, which I understood. The task was to weed and replace DG in a very small area (about 15'x20'), as well as extend a wooden fence and build a gate. I was promised that the area would be sprayed and that the highest quality weed barrier would be laid. During the work, I had a little communication trouble with the crew (Elio had left to arrange the DG) when it came to the irrigation hoses, and I ran to the store to get more tubing. When I got back, they were already laying out the barrier and didn't need the new tubing after all, and I never saw whether they sprayed or not. Elio also promised to come back and do turn on service, since he claimed it was still too cold to do it that day. They replaced some removable metal fencing without much attention to square corners, but other than that everything looked fine for a couple of weeks. Then lo and behold, grass started coming up through both the DG and the mulched areas of the yard. I texted Elio about this and he offered to come back and spray. I said great, then waited to hear back. Crickets. A couple of other reminders, but no response until I said I'd have no choice but to write a bad review. He then wrote back, "Do what you have to do," so here I am. And I've given the lowest rating because now the gate they installed doesn't even close correctly! I'm ashamed to say I paid over $3000 for this terrible work and service. Lo siento, Elio, pero le di la oportunidad...

5 stars just isn't enough…read more I woke up one morning to a text from my mom with a picture of what looked liked a large branch which had broken from her tree. Her text said, "Tomorrow, on my day off, I'm going to saw it down to dump!" My mom is a bit older and very petite, so when I read this, I imagined mom with a hand saw in the middle of her driveway and I laughed and responded, "No, I'll take care of it for you." I live in Southern California and mom lives in Reno, so I couldn't just come over and clean it up for her, unfortunately. I first called waste management, they apparently don't do bulk pickups in Reno. I went onto Yelp and searched tree removal, stumbled across Greater America Tree Service and gave them a call. Mark, who answered the phone, was very professional and polite. I explained to him the situation, he asked me to text him the pictures mom had sent me. He responded with a fair estimate. Not even an hour later, I get a call and text back to let me know that they had finished. Talk about speedy service. What's even more awesome is they decided not to charge me. Apparently, the branch was a lot smaller than it appeared in the pictures. So they just went ahead and took care of it. Poor guys spent more on gas money to get out there! Bottom line, I would highly recommend Greater Nevada Tree Service and will be referring them to anyone in Reno that needs tree trimming or removal. Unexpected kind acts from strangers are so rare these days, my mom and I greatly appreciate what they did. Although it may not have been much work for them, it saved me a lot of worrying and saved my mom a lot of physical labor. Thank you again!!

When the rep from Antonucci Lawn and Garden showed up, he asked, "what do you like to do in your backyard?" and then he was quiet and let me talk. After an hour of conversation, I knew this was the right company for the job. The company provides all the necessary drawings, samples, and information my HOA needed to approve the project. Once it got started, the workers were polite, focused, and hard working. I was impressed with the level of detail they took in making sure the ground was well compacted for the pavers they were installing and used a laser level to ensure the entire patio was laid correctly. When it came to installing plants, rock, and drip irrigation, again, they showed their experience. They helped choose appropriate plants that do well in the climate and that helped achieve the look I wanted. At the last minute, I asked to add an additional element to the plan. The Project Manager figured out a way to include it without adding any additional cost! A year later, some of the plants didn't survive the hard winter. Antonucci showed up the day after I called and replaced each one with a similar plant at no charge! Very impressive and great customer service. I am so pleased with the job Antonucci Lawn and Garden did. The compliments I have received on the design and work are endless. This family owned company wants to make sure their customers get the landscaping of their dreams and they definitely succeeded with me! Since completing this project, I have used Antonucci for additional projects and even had numerous friends use them. Every time the outcome has been outstanding and high quality. I would highly recommend them.
