A while back I went into the Brodheadsville store with my wife because I wanted her to pick out a…read morehandgun to keep around the house just in case she needed it to protect herself or our children. The world is changing and I feel better knowing she's safe. There were two salesmen behind the counter. One old guy and a tall dark-haired man in around his late 30's. A real wise ass. After I helped my wife pick out a handgun I felt she could handle, I was ready to pay for it. The smart-ass guy said I had to sign for it. I told him that it's my wife's gun and I want her to sign for it. I felt that it would be a hassle if she was carrying it and it was in my name. Plus, I wanted her to feel like it was Her's. She really didn't like to handle my handguns. But he said I had to sign for it. Why? My wife was in her 50's. No Police record. A US Citizen. He gave some bullshit because I picked it out, I had to buy it. I told him I already purchased 2 handguns in that store. But still he refused to sell it to her. He was enjoying doing so. Then I realized why. He a racist. My wife is Columbian. Even though she came her legally at the age of 2 years old and holds a US Military ID because I am a US Army Veteran of 25 years and we have been together for 31 years. I walked out and never returned. I even wrote to Jere Dunkelberger and he didn't care less. And I see I'm not the only one who had this problem in their store. We went to the store specifically because my husband wanted a Speedo type suit for scuba diving…read more We looked online & it seemed that Schuylkill Valley Sports had some of the best prices, and since the Target is nearby, it made sense to just stop there, even if it meant a few more dollars. Surprisingly (or maybe not), they didn't have any of the swimsuits in the store that they had on their website. I should have called in advance and checked, I guess, but oh well. While that was frustrating, I'll still give them 4 stars for service. The young man (wow, that makes me sound old, doesn't it!) who helped us was very friendly, checked stock on the floor & in the back, and when he couldn't find what we were looking for, directed us to purchase on the website & have it shipped to the store, so that we'd save the shipping cost. I don't head that way very often, so we'll probably just order online & have it shipped to the house for free from someone else, but if I ever needed some type of sporting gear, I'd probably come here and look. I liked the feel better than the mega sports stores like Dick's or Sports Authority.

Imagine walking into a business with your adult son where 3 employees fail to respond to you after…read moreyou after saying hello. After viewing the stock of ammo and firearms you decide to pick up a box of ammo. After placing it on the counter something changes your mind. The cold underwhelming customer service strikes you. No help was offered at anytime. Not to assist with finding anything or an offer to show us anything in the case. I quietly decide not to spend a dime in the store. After informing the miserable individual at the cash register that I've changed my mind. He states with agitation and questioning rudeness, "you've changed your mind??" To which I state "yes." As I turn to exit the store, another employee, obviously not happy with his station in life. Parrots the first employees dialog with equal annoyance; "you've changed your mind?" We walk out and get inside the car when my adult son states he heard one fella say to the other "they're not going to buy anything." Now I hadn't heard that myself, but my change of intent to spend in that store was the right choice. To be fair I've been in this store 3 times and only once was the interaction pleasant. Customer service is horrible and prices are neither good or bad, just average. This establishment can never get another dime out of me, in addition, I will share my experience with anyone that will listen. Do better!
