It is often said that the best way to honor someone is to not just remember what they did, but reflect how they did it. My late father started with the job of raising me at age 19, by the time he was 22 he was going to do this alone when he passed away at age 60 I was at a complete loss and like most people found myself in the state of confusion and not knowing how to deal with in honor the man who given up most of his life to raise me. I found myself very fortunate to be in touch with David at Quiring monuments who not only was familiar with all of cemeteries in the area but was able to quickly give me some peace of mind in options and being able to honor my fathers memory and have a monument his workmanship and craft mirrored very careful nature of my father's career as a machinist. You see in the photos that tremendous amount of care and went into creating the urn where my father's earthly remains now reside. The quality of workmanship is legendary, and the amount of care that goes in to delivering the monuments would make it seem as if you were receiving this from another family member. I am giving a 5 star review because Mr Reece, the owner, was very sensitive and accomodating when I told him about an issue I had with two markers I purchased: one seven years ago and one twenty three years ago. In both cases, no one told me about the necessity to clean the granite once or twice a year in order for the lettering to remain the original color. Quiring Monuments was recommended by our fabulous Funeral Director for a headstone for my mother. I called & Tom Jackson answered the phone. It was my first time ordering a headstone & had no idea what I was doing or what to expect. He was very patient & kind with me, explaining how things would work & where to start. He was in touch often, letting me know how things were going. After the headstone was complete, he sent me a picture of it & it was beautiful. I wanted to be present at the cemetery when they installed it & it was more incredible in person than in the picture. I also got a vase, so I can put pretty flowers in a pretty vase for my mom. Tom was outstanding. I cannot thank him enough. The price was about $1500 - $2000 less than at the cemetery. These folks were fantastic. Everything we requested was perfect. The workmanship was top of the line. I also liked that they are a local company who obviously take great pride in their work. After 20 years the monument is still in excellent condition. They even helped with a touchup cleaning kit to clean the granite and make it look almost new. Installation challenges aside (see my initial review), the headstone itself turned out very nicely. I appreciated that they offered a beautiful, non-standard curved stone shape and had the in-house skill to customize the dimensions to meet my budget. Engraving-wise, John suggested the creative idea of expanding my original music note design and make it a personally-meaningful excerpt of music, which made our exchange more like art and less like a business transaction. Combined with a robust revision process with Quiring's artwork folks, the headstone ended up being exactly as shown in the proofs, which was a relief. There were some challenges in getting the music notes just right, as the first several proofs placed notes on the wrong lines in the staff, but sending back carefully annotated change requests made it work out in the end. Unfortunately there were delays in getting the stone from the quarry (the order was placed in mid December, and the raw stone wasn't received by Quiring until April), but I had been forewarned that the headstone process from end to end would take months, so I appreciated John keeping me updated on the timeline and providing the shipper's tracking information once the headstone left Quiring. read more

I found Quiring back in October 2011 after the unfortunate passing of my dad but in the process, I have found myself a team of angels at Quiring. Being from CA and Quiring in WA, all communication was done through phone or email but Lisa (my super angel) managed to make it all very personal and intimate, it felt like I was right there in the office conversing and sharing our wishes with her. From my initial inquiry to POST-transaction (yes, post! After the memorial was completed and paid for, they still kept in contact to make sure everything was ok), Lisa and the team at Quiring put so much thought into the memorial and my well-being that I could tell that they are truly passionate about the work they do. People say that you can't convey emotions through email but with every single email from Lisa, I could tell that she was delighted to be helping me; her enthusiasm about the memorial made me know I was in good hands. As for the memorial they made for my dad (and mom)? Not a single complaint from me or anyone in the family, it is beautiful and surpassed my expectations! Quiring has very talented artists who will produce beautiful one-of-a-kind designs (award winning designs fyi) to suit your family's needs and then the skilled craftsmen will reproduce the design onto the highest quality granite they can get their hands on. They were open to my suggestions and requests on the design, font size, design element size and position and even welcomed my memorial size downgrade and granite color changes (at the last minute too!!) all while giving me their full support and honesty on the changes I wanted to make. And with every change I requested, there was a new color proof for me to look at! Truth be told, even with the handful of proofs I received, the memorial still blew me away when I saw it in person. SOO you would think with customer service that excels even American Express and goods that I would compare to luxury handbags quality-wise would come exorbitant pricing but in actuality, Quiring was more affordable than other monument companies (and I did my research). In fact my experience with Quiring makes me believe that Quiring is not in the business to make money and gain profit but instead they are in the business to produce beautiful monuments and build relationships with their clients. Let them give you a chance to show you their mission, you will not regret it. I cannot be more thankful that I have such a supportive, compassionate, knowledgable, and understanding team representing my family through such a difficult time. I have had the unfortunate experience of my father passing away suddenly then 10 weeks later my brother passing away. I wanted something very unquie to honoring my brother (not that i didn't for my father but he was a vet and the VA did his grave marker). My brother was only 50 and he LOVED life and i wanted to express that in his grave marker and Quiring Monuments allowed me to do just that. This company is AMAZING!!!! Lisa Nealey was my angel!! She did everything for me, she went above and beyond in assisting me. The marker was delivered and installed very quickly (even though they tell you 4 months for install) that was just not the case. No one likes to discuss price at the time of a loved one passing but their pricing are outstanding compared to the funeral home and i didn't get the plain jane run of the mill marker, it is perfect for my brother. They have several styles to chose from or create your own. I would highly recommend this company, it was so so easy to work with them and at this time in my life that is what i needed. Horribly unorganized and borderline u professional. After making 3 face to face visits for a design of a headstone, mr locke still couldn't get it right and deliver on time with the design. As much money as it is to get this done and as stressful as it is John Locke didn't make it any easier. If we spell it out for you and you lose the copy or forget a conversation we had two days prior and lose a fax copy we sent accidentally messing up a name on the design for the headstone, there are major professional lapses you really need to work on. We purchased a memorial stone for my daughter after she passed away, we had it delivered to Quiring Monuments to be engraved and then delivered and placed on our property. It took them 9 weeks to do the engraving. And it has now been at their place of business for 5 weeks since it has been engraved and ready for delivery. Despite repeated attempts to contact them, I still do not have a delivery date, and now they have stopped returning our messages all together. I am extremely unhappy with this service and would not recommend them. read more

My brother served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 22 years and with the Washington Department of Corrections for 8 years. This past May his life ended. I was just emailed some pictures of a memorial marble plaque paying tribute to my brother along with a laser etched photograph. I was amazed at the clarity. It was from a picture taken of my brother as a member of the Monroe Correctional Center Honor Guard during the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in 2009. It was like having a picture in Marble. This was done by Quiring Monument without charge to the family. I also understand that the owner, David Quiring is on the board of "Behind the Badge" which is a group that provides support to the families of law enforcement officers who have died.
