She told me that no one does that any more, I needed to buy one of their sewing machines, and proceded to give a high pressure sales talk about the most expensive model in the shop. When I told her that issues with my spine prevented me from sitting at a sewing machine she snorted and muttered something about wasting her time on lower class people. Needless to say, I'm never going back. When I got in the car and told my husband what she said, he said he's never taking me there again if that's the way they treat new customers.

I described the color and texture of the fabric I was envisioning, and was led exactly to the right bolts of cloth to choose from. One woman worked the downstairs and the other upstairs. I got just what I wanted, quickly. A much better experience than the chain stores for fabric which are quick but without the rich variety of choices found here. Downfall is simply that Waynesville is likely a bit out of the way for many. But plan ahead and make a day of it by visiting the many antique and decor shops in town. Since it was a 40 minute drive for me, I did call ahead to make sure they were open (I'm learning, post pandemic, not to trust what's shown on websites).

They then helped to find a comparable fabric that would stand the test of time. And it has! Their vast selections are high quality and of patterns and types that you can't find at other fabric stores. Prices are fair for your selections, whether high-end or as basic as denim. And they HAVE given me recommendations for quality seamstresses who can make sure their beautiful fabrics turn out as you would expect. We chose to have them pickup and drop-off, cuz we don't have a truck or anyway to do it ourselves. If you do, you can do that also.
