The woman who was working there that day asked me what sewing machine I used, and I told her I was a hand sewer. She told me that no one does that any more, I needed to buy one of their sewing machines, and proceded to give a high pressure sales talk about the most expensive model in the shop. When I told her that issues with my spine prevented me from sitting at a sewing machine she snorted and muttered something about wasting her time on lower class people. Needless to say, I'm never going back. When I got in the car and told my husband what she said, he said he's never taking me there again if that's the way they treat new customers.

But I didn't have to wander much because two well-informed customer service reps were able to direct me. I was looking for fabric to cover my dining room chairs (small DIY project). I described the color and texture of the fabric I was envisioning, and was led exactly to the right bolts of cloth to choose from. One woman worked the downstairs and the other upstairs. I got just what I wanted, quickly. A much better experience than the chain stores for fabric which are quick but without the rich variety of choices found here. Downfall is simply that Waynesville is likely a bit out of the way for many. But plan ahead and make a day of it by visiting the many antique and decor shops in town. Since it was a 40 minute drive for me, I did call ahead to make sure they were open (I'm learning, post pandemic, not to trust what's shown on websites).

I wanted my chair & a half reupholster, because I love it so much. They told me it was a 10 months waiting list. We could pick up materials, put down down-payment then just wait. 8 months later they gave me a call, I was ecstatic! 2 months earlier than expected. They came and pick up my chair & pillows. We chose to have them pickup and drop-off, cuz we don't have a truck or anyway to do it ourselves. If you do, you can do that also. I am pretty sure it took only about 7-10 days (I had this done last year, 2025), the result is amazing! I love it! Now, I'm going to find something else to reupholster

Not only are a wide variety of quality fabric patterns available, but also classes are offered throughout the year and you can drop your quilt topper off to be quilted by their long-arm machine. Another plus, the owner, Kelly, has a network of people and resources. You can drop your machine off to be repaired through her shop! Prices are moderate and there is always a section of discount fabric available.
