I witnessed something quite disturbing at this location tonight. One of the employees was…read morepower-washing the pavement when a nearby customer complained that he was being hit by the spray and asked the man to stop. They proceeded to argue for a few minutes, but I thought it was a simple enough issue and would be resolved easily. It's worth noting that the customer was the only Black person, besides myself, that was present at this location. I headed into the store, but when I came out there was now a manager involved (a very short, thin man with blondish/brunette hair) and all three of them continued to argue. The manager was basically telling the guy there was nothing they could do if spray hit the man or his car and they weren't doing it on purpose. The man got back in his car, saying "you racist son of a b****." To which the manager responded "You bet I am, don't come back." I have two issues with this exchange: 1. Why was it so hard to just apologize to a paying customer for accidentally spraying them and just wait until they leave? What kind of business trains their employs that this is okay? It never should have escalated to this in the first place. 2. I don't know what was said while I was in the store, but in what world is the correct response to a customer feeling racially profiled "You bet I am. Don't come back."!? As a Black man myself, I felt extremely uncomfortable with this comment. I hope that this is not what QuikTrip is promoting among their employees, especially those who are in positions of power. Please do better.
