I went inside to tell them about the problem and to ask them to reset the pump. They said it is reset now. I went back outside. The pump still registered $20. So I pulled forward to the next pump and used it. They came running out to tell me I owed them $20 for gas from the first pump. I told them I tried to tell you there was a problem with the pump but you refused to listen.

Yesterday, after driving for 8+ hours, with another hour left to go, I pulled in to an EMPTY bay to top off my tank. When I went to tap my CC, I noticed that the screen said "Begin fueling". I thought the previous transaction had gotten stuck somehow, so I hit cancel. The screen cleared and my CC was accepted. I filled my car, and as I was getting my receipt, an employee came out to tell me to stop fueling my car, that she had accidently put a cash payment for gas on my pump instead of the one in the next bay. I told her I had canceled that transaction and paid with my credit card. I ended up having to go in to verify things--which I would not have minded, except the staff and this woman who had paid cash treated me as if I were lying. And then, the woman stated that I had used $5+ of HER money while I was filling my car. Not sure how she came up with that. In the end, I ended up giving the woman $5 because I just wanted to go home. I did not want to argue the validity of all of this. The error was not mine. It was the employee who posted the cash payment on the wrong pump. I paid for my gas after I canceled the previous transaction. I called the next day to speak with the manager. It was useless. The whole thing could have been handled better. They never asked to see my receipt, nor verification from the other woman.

So I sat in the parking lot for awhile trying to figure out what I was going to do. Then I realized they had water available. I went inside to ask them to turn it on and one clerk said no free water. I said it says on the sign that it is illegal to charge for water when fuel is purchased. So I asked again for them to turn it on and the clerk refused even though the other clerk acknowledged it was illegal. I paid for water and have filed a complaint with the State of California Measurement and Standards division.
