Ordered a glossy 5x7 photo print online, and the print was ready the next day! Very speedy, good price, and the print itself was beautiful and high quality, no loss in graphics. However, I did have to slightly trim down my print in order for it to fit a 5x7 photo frame I wanted to put it in, because there was a white border around half an inch thick around the main picture itself, which I did not realize increased the dimensions of the print. I spent over $400 haveng slides scanned. I waited a month to get them. Then I discovered they had scanned some of them twice. The color was dramatically different on some which were double scanned. It leaves me a mess to 'clean up' digitally. And they did not get back to me when to sort out the cost because I was charged for the doubles. read more

I had a need to print a photo before I left Bellingham on Wednesday (8/23). I live in Georgia and wanted to leave a gift for my son in Bellingham; a framed image that we had taken at Artist Point over the weekend. Quicksilver is closed on Sunday and Monday, so on Tuesday morning I got up early and went downtown. I arrived at around 8:45am even though I knew that Quicksilver did not open until 10am. I wanted to be there as early as possible. I parked in the business's designated parking space behind the building and waited. At 9:57 I got out of my car and walked around the building to Quicksilver's front door. I could see people inside and I assumed it was open, so I walked in. I was immediately scolded by the woman working there. She told me I was early and that I would have to wait. She did a few little things behind the counter while I stood there. Then at some point she checked her watch (or phone) an announced that it was now 10am and asked me what I needed. I said I am from out of town and was hoping to get a photo printed prior to my departure the next morning. Wow! I barely had those words out of my mouth before the angrily exclaimed "No Way!!" She spoke to me so harshly I was taken aback. I had not even finished my question. I actually stood there speechless for a few seconds. At that point she followed up with "if you really want it today, it will be a $100 rush fee and maybe I can get it by the end of the day." Look I get it - People are busy and my priorities are not their priorities. I also understand that there is apparently no local competition in this space. But it was one photo and she did not have to be so rude. I work in a service industry and try to help people whenever I can. It actually makes me happy when I can help someone. I immediately left Bellingham, drove to Vancouver (Vancouver Photo Lab) where a very nice man printed it while I waited. I turned around, drove back to Bellingham and I was back in town by 2:00pm. I had the mat and frame ready to go and I had it finished and on his wall by by 4pm. Left the next morning for Seattle at 4:30am. I strongly don't recommend Quciksilver. read more

These people are so nice! I had a problem with my camera shutter closing. I called and described the problem. I was told by the nice woman who answered the phone that it was unlikely that they would be able to fix it for me, but to bring it in anyway: they'd have a look and see if there was anything simple they could do--maybe puff a little air on it. So I brought it in. The gentleman who helped me took it to the back to have a look. When he returned, it was as I anticipated--nothing they could do. But he explained the problem to me. When I asked how much did I owe him for his time, he waved me away. Nothing. Really nice people, helpful advice. read more

Got my passport photo taken. The guy took 3 photos. Said he will check to make sure they fit the standard and print 2 photos to take with. Online, they say you get to see your photo before they print it, in case you don't like it. I asked about that. He just replied with "oh I picked one for you" when He handed me the photo, I noticed my head was tilted. I didn't like it, and asked if it's even ok to be submitted with the application. He said it's fine. He took the photo freehand, no stand or anything. Couldn't operate the flash properly, so he had to take extra photos. Anyways. Just plain disappointed. I could of taken a better, more straight selfie after a couple beers. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

I love this photo lab! When I was a student at WWU, I would take my $5 disposable cameras there and the photos always turned out great. They had about a one week turnaround and costs me about $11 at the time for prints and a CD. They even went above and beyond to mail my prints to me when I moved away. They have fallen apart. Still dealing with family photos since order placed 1/4/21. They were late 1/19 But photo copies had cut off heads. Large framed family pix placed back in frame crooked, and printed on black and white print instead of as picture delivered. Was promised it would be ready thurs. Here it is sat and she hasn't started No promises when it will be ready. They charged me for cd--didn't deliver. She spent more time talking about covid and snow than it would have taken to do the job. Opened at 10 am, but no computers ready for operation. Who owns this place???? read more

I recently got into shooting 35mm thanks to my dad. I had previously gone to Walgreens to get negatives developed and have prints made. They (Walgreens) ship the rolls of film out, gets them developed and scanned, and only returns prints. The first thing I asked when I came to Quicksilver was whether they returned negatives and the gentleman working at the counter responded with "Not returning negatives would be sacrilege!" I recently had my negatives developed, and had a really nice chat with someone working there about film and digital cameras. The staff seems very knowledgeable, and the store has a decent combination of gear, cameras (both film and digital), and lenses. Overall, great experience and I plan on going here for all of my camera related needs for the foreseeable future! read more

The reviews here are correct. This is a fantastic place to do business. After reading the reviews I thought I would put them to the test. I have a very expensive digital camera that had dust on the sensor or mirror (Sony A99II). I did everything I could to remove the dust. I even purchased a professional dust removal tool (blower) but it only seemed to make things worse. The owner spent some time with me and the camera, educating me along the way, and magically, somehow restored my camera back to health again! I wouldn't recommend their repair service. It took them 4 WEEKS to tell me that they couldn't even get me an estimate and gave me a referral in Portland, OR with the wrong phone number. I could have figure that out on my own in less than an hour! Other than repairs, they have good quality equipment, but I'm under the impression that repairs aren't in house so be prepared for a long long wait and maybe a you'll get a fix. read more

As a photography student this is the primary source in the 'Ham to get your supplies. They develop film and carry lots of lenses and other supplies for manual cameras. They also are up to date on digital supplies and they are very very helpful. I enjoy the small town aspect of quicksilver and that it seems really mysterious since it is located underneath Kulshan Cycles on the side of Chestnut Street. read more

Don't get your passport photo done here. They seemed impatient and gruff. Both mine and my companions photo tuned out awful.

I previously took film (yes, actual film) to be developed there, and they did a good job. More recently I needed a passport picture. I had it done at Quicksilver, in and out fairly quickly. A little dark, but OK. Afterward, I had "buyers remorse" about the picture, mostly because I looked like I'd been sleeping on my face in an airport terminal for 17 hours, not to mention getting a shave and a haircut that would make me look less scary to customs officials... Willing to pay for a do-over, I returned for a second photo session. When I showed the old picture to the photographer for a before/after comparison laugh, she noted that the previous picture had been taken on a polaroid rather than a digital. The remake had much better contrast and more natural skin tone. Although I wasn't looking for it, they did not charge for the second session. Anyone can make an error, but they recognized it and made it right without a fuss from me or from them. That's doing business right. read more

Before I rant, I'll say Quicksilver is the only gig in town for pro developing and photo needs. So there is no real alternative... But, here is my gripe: they usually botch my projects the first time and have to redo them... I think the problem is that the person who takes your order is not the person working on your project. .. I usually have some complicated orders, and I go out of my way to make sure that they understand what I'm asking for... But, I can usually count on the fact that message sent is not message received... The size will be off, or the quantity will be off, or the price will be off... AHH! But, I still go there, I still trust them to (eventually) get it right. But it has just happened tooo many times to let it go unsaid...I miss Spinnaker... read more

Not every town is fortunate enough to have a competent photo lab, and even if they do they're not likely to have one staffed by such knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly people as Quicksilver. For years I'd wanted to try film photography again, but in my old town it was hard to find film, impossible to have it developed (without mailing it off somewhere) and just generally not worth the trouble. When I moved here and learned of Quicksilver, experimenting with film became a convenient possibility. Now if I get bored with my digital camera, I have the luxury of using one of my old film cameras, as well. It's nice to have options. read more

This place is a magic place where people make magic happen. I would go crazy with a lawn with some bugs in it, but since that's currently a no-go I'm gonna say this place is a great alternative. My owner recently had a number of things go wrong with a Nikon. It fell from up high and a new lens was purchased on the internet. Then new batteries. Then it jammed up badly and my owner was told elsewhere that the lens was stuck and the camera probably not worth fixing. I said enough, looked up Quicksilver on yelp. These guys tested the batteries right away right in front of us on their LED meter, almost dead. The meter was mesmerizing and commanded my complete attention. They popped the lens off pretty easily and a small loose screw had been lodged in the body of the camera- possibly from the old lense when it got knocked on the ground. Thanks guys. My camera seems to work now, and you explained that the light meter would still function even if the battery wasn't powering the display. This makes my coat healthier, I swear to god. Other places sell batteries for sooo much sometimes, and you had them for what, cost? Why isn't everywhere this cool? read more
