If you're a woman who simply does not get enough mansplaining in your day-to-day life, bring your car here for repairs.
I brought my vehicle in for a simple alignment. After I paid, picked it up and drove on a variety of different roads and speeds, I noticed the vehicle was significantly pulling to one side. I called to inform them of the situation and was told to bring it back to be looked at, and was reminded it was "first come, first serve" even if you're returning with an issue.
I did so and before I could fully get into the lobby, I was met at the door by the mechanic telling me to give him my keys and with reassurances I wasn't experiencing an issue with alignment.... it was the plane of the road, not the alignment of the car which was creating the issue. I explained to him I was experiencing the issue on both highway and city streets, at varying speeds. But he insisted again, the road was the culprit.
(I have a class A CDL, by the way, and have driven tens of thousands of miles. And while I might not be able to repair vehicles, I know how they drive.)
The mechanic left with my keys, and it was clear no one at the counter wanted to help me. I had to ask them to take my number so they could call me to let me know when my car was finished. A few hours later they called me to let me know the car was repaired and that they had gone "above and beyond" and wouldn't charge me additionally... I guess to do the job right.
Can you guess what the reception was like when I returned for the car?
I opened the door to the lobby to find the manager walking quickly toward me, keys and paperwork in hard, without one word to say. He handed me my keys in silence.
For a shop who seems to want to put a lot of time into wordy excuses about shoddy repair, one would think they could take the time for a pleasantry or two. read more
