We went on a Thursday night around 5. Plenty of space, there were only 2 other families there…read more Food 3/5: the ribs and brisket were dry and did not have much flavor. We got the end of the brisket they were currently cutting, so likely had been cut hours before and left which likely lead it to be dry. The chicken was ok, not much flavor and was on the drier side. The sausage was the best option we tried, good balance of flavor. The cornbread was also dry. The potato salad had good flavor. The Mac and cheese was the best thing we tried. I'd comeback for the sausage and Mac and cheese. Service 3/5: this is an order at the counter and sit down style. We had never been here before and overall did not feel helped when we were ordering. The staff just started at us and asked what we wanted instead of helping us walk through the steps of how to order (meat first and then you choose your sides). It got challenging because there was a growing line and many of us felt the same way of not really knowing what to order. I had to ask for extra plates for our kiddos, and was a little confused about extra condiments and things that were available in the restaurant. Ambiance 4/5: the restaurant was clean and plenty of places to sit. We were in the restaurant with another family with kids, and our kiddos ended up doing friendly dinosaur roads to the family across the restaurant. We all had a really good laugh. Overall most of the meat was dry but we liked some of the sides. The staff could have been more helpful in ordering. This is a kid friendly restaurant in our experience and had plenty of room to accommodate larger parties.

You can tell how good a place is by their collard greens and theirs can hold their own. Big chunks of pork and the right amount of heat. They were a little more sweeter then I like, but that's more to my personal taste. Sweet ice tea was on point. Cornbread tasted homemade and brisket was tender, flavorful and had the pink smoke ring. The BBQ is sweet and spicy ( not to my taste, but if you like a kick- you will enjoy it.) The only negative and thus 4 stars was the mac and cheese, it just had a weird aftertaste like a cheese sauce from a can. Service was quick and waitstaff were super nice. Prices were extremely reasonable.

I visited Luang Prabang, a Lao-Thai cart on Library Mall, a few times earlier this year. They had a…read moreregular menu that included curries, noodles, and salads, but also a rotating daily menu, all at very affordable prices. The people working at the cart were really nice and accommodating, and were happy to modify any dish they could for ingredients that you can't or don't eat. The first thing I tried was the squash curry, which was a really generous portion size for $7, consisting of rice topped with a rich coconut milk-based curry filled with chicken, kabocha, and zucchini. It was really filling and tasty. But the real winner from the cart after a few visits was the avocado spring roll, which was $3.50 and the size of a burrito. It was basically a giant fresh roll filled with avocado, lettuce, cabbage, mint, rice noodles, cucumber, carrot, and peanut sauce. We got the medium spicy sauce, and it had a fantastic kick to it. Still can't believe something so large was only a few dollars, as it was such a great deal. Definitely worth trying this cart if you're looking for something to eat on campus.

Wedding attendees are still raving about the food. The most frequent comments are that "it was absolutely the best wedding food" they have ever had, as well as, "it came hot". The service staff was polite and efficient. The day got away from us, so they adjusted to meet our needs. I never remember what I ate at most weddings. These guests will remember for years. Also, we had several guests with severe allergies and some with gluten issues. All of our needs were met and never questioned. Their menu is designed for GF/DF. But we also needed several plated dinners due to our more extremely allergic guests. We felt that our concerns were heard and taken seriously. Thank you!!! We also used the bar tending staff. They were excellent as well. We had three signature drinks and beer, wine and champagne. There was minimal waiting for drinks, even during the cocktail hour. I highly recommend this company for any event.

Communication was easy, with quick responses and flexibility in accommodating our special requests. They made everything feel effortless on our end, handling every detail with minimal direction and total professionalism. The dinner service was fantastic, and they went above and beyond to ensure everything went exactly as we hoped, following our timeline perfectly. A big thank you to the Upstairs Downstairs team for helping to make our day extra special. We look forward to recommending them to future couples getting married in the Madison area.
