I recently moved to the area and had a bad experience at another Quest nearby, so I was a little nervous coming here. I shared that with this team, and they really took their time with me, making sure I felt comfortable before drawing blood. They did a thorough evaluation first, which gave me confidence in their skill compared to my last visit. The process itself was very quick, which I appreciated. I did experience some slight bruising afterward, but since I get bloodwork done often, that's pretty typical. What stood out most was how friendly and professional they were. I recommend making an afternoon or evening appointment when it's less busy if you want extra time to ask questions or share concerns. One note: I noticed in the past that my insurance was billed incorrectly, but this time it was done right. Overall, I'll definitely be returning to this location for my future bloodwork. read more

I was impressed with Quest in Shade. I made an appointment for a time that was convenient for me. Upon getting to the facility, I checked in on the screen they had and was told I'd be called shortly. There was also a person assisting those who struggle with technology. I was seen at the exact time of my appointment. The lady drawing blood was very friendly and professional. Do not use QUEST lab services they have horrible customer service. I mean, they actually do not have any customer service. It's all automated and the phone automated system literally hangs up on you. You have no way to contact anyone in person. I have yet had an appointment I've been waiting for two months and I've already paid for it. Do not use this lab. read more

Nothing notable or to complain about, they took a fair amount of my blood, it wasn't pleasant, but these things never are--I get a call the next morning that basically they ruined all of the samples and they're going to have to do it all again. Was referred here by my daughter's pediatrician. Walked in and asked if they had anyone with pediatric experience that could do lab work on a 4 month old and the lady at the front says "of course they do kids all the time". Proceeded to head to the back while all the employees passed the job onto someone else by saying "I've never done a baby" or "I don't want them to cry" as if it's not their job to know this kind of stuff. So right off the bat I had a terrible feeling. The lady that pricked her couldn't even get the blood inside the tiny vial she kept getting it all over my daughter's other leg and her clothes even got blood on them. She then kinda angry asked "Do you have a bottle for her?" As if I'm the one that can't get the job done and continued to squeeze her foot for what felt like an eternity. She then gets up, hands the vial to the younger girl and stormed out of the room. So I let the younger lady know I'd be back to go grab a pacifier from my truck and then I came back and the lady doing the lab was no where to be seen and the younger lady was told to tell me that "they unfortunately cannot finish the lab work" and that I would need a new referral somewhere else from my pediatrician. If you can't train your people to their job correctly or at least act professional then don't tell your guests at the front desk that you can do the job. I have pictures of blood all over my daughter's legs and clothes but I'd like to keep them off the internet. Deserves a 0 star. read more

Had to have three different blood draws today and everytime I get blood drawn elsewhere it's always such a struggle to have them find my veins to the point they end up in my hand or blow my veins out. Well I just want to say that Crystal ( Krystal ) was so amazing, so sweet and so gentle. She literally was best blood draws experience I've had in my life. Go see her! Very quick and efficient service. I made an appointment online, and checked in on my phone when I arrived. I was taken within minutes and brought back to a room. The phlebotomist entered in my info from my orders and quickly prepped my arm. She expertly drew multiple vials of blood without my seeing it (thankfully!) I barely felt the needle or anything weird during the blood draw. I mention this because I've had bloodwork done multiple times and this wasn't the case.) The automated Kiosk was easy to use and the waiting room was very busy when I arrived. However, each time an employee called on a person's name and someone else had a question, they were quick to provide excellent customer service. Hint: Many of the questions can be answers if the customer took a few seconds to look at the big screen in the waiting room, which shows who is waiting as an appointment and who is waiting as a stand by. When I was called, the person was very professional. Don't get discouraged if there are many people waiting. They do work pretty quickly. Would definitely use this location again. read more

This was my first time getting my lab work done at this quest location. It's extremely clean and the phlebotomists work really well together to get people in and out. The office wasn't over crowded either and the employees were friendly. I was here for a 3 hour glucose test and I had Quanisha as my lab tech. She was great! Super sweet and efficient. This place used to be good. Both my wife and I had bad experiences this year. It has become the worst place you can go to get your blood drawn. The "Phlebotomist" are extremely rude, unprofessional, inept, etc, etc They puncture my veins 3 times, they would not talk to me, I felt I was treated like an animal not person, very rude people. We were able to easily make an appointment for first thing in the morning so there was no delay we walked right in and went straight back to have blood withdrawn. This was my second time visiting Quest, on Shade Av. in two weeks. The first week I was met by an African-American woman, she drew my blood on my left arm. It was the most painful draw I've ever experienced, the needle felt like it was bent backwards in my vein. After I left, I had severe bruising at entry point for over a week. She was extremely unfriendly. The second week I returned to have my blood drawn from my opposite arm. I was met with the same woman. This time however, she was brash, unpleasant, unprofessional, unkept and down right rude. These photos are the result of having blood drawn from my right arm. This woman has no business dealing with the public and especially in a healthcare environment. She lacks training and bedside manner. I am monitoring my arm for one more day and if the bruising continues to move up my arm I will have to go to the ER. There are many nerves surrounding the entry point that could do permanent damage if done incorrectly. The position that this woman holds needs to be terminated immediately for the safety of others. I will be filing a formal complaint with corporate and the health board, as well will my physician. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this location. read more

If I could give negative stars for a review this place would be at the top of my list. Every single time I go I have to resolve billing issues. Every visit I give them the same insurance card and every bill I get has the wrong ID or insurance provider. Then it is up to the customer to resolve the issues that Quest created for themselves. The billing department is an absolute disaster. I have fixed their issues in the past only to get the next bill wrong again. I could never recommend Quest to anybody as it is the worst experience I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and walk down the hall to Labcorp if it is an option. read more

Today I had a nurse, Mimi, she was able to take my fear away during blood work taken by talking to me,keeping me busy and the work was done in no time, I was surprised when she told me after a short time, it's all done. let me start by saying i trust quest laboratories as a whole. i work at a private lab that sends out to quest, and we rarely have issues on the back end. for that reason i decided to purchase a cmp & a blood typing test from their website, which was fairly simple and they have discounts for medical personnel. it did take me a couple tries to get a confirmed appointment, but things like that tend to happen with online portals. today i came in at my scheduled appointment time, and checked in at the kiosk. i've seen negative reviews on the kiosks, but they were incredibly easy to use and i prefer that over a receptionist. i waited for my phlebotomist for about 5 minutes (shorter wait than my doctors office lol) and was taken back to one of their many rooms. i didn't catch her name but the phlebotomist i was with was kind and knew exactly what she was doing, making for a short visit and no pain. this was my first time having my blood drawn, im terrified of needles and have avoided it for as long as possible. thank you to the quest on shade, i will definitely be back if/when i need another test! read more

I'm a working guy, up at 4-4:30am everyday. At work by 6-6:30. Website says they open at 7, dr schedules me to go to get fasting bloodwork. Get there at 6:45, there's a short line, no biggie. Wait till they open, go inside , an office guy comes out says no one under age of 60 will be seen till after 8am. Are you kidding me? 3/4 of the people in line are under 60, most have to be at work. So now we will be even later to work. Nothing on their website says first hour for certain people. My dr office didn't even know about it. At the very Least they could've put a sign on the door stating Update Sorry I haven't been back on here to update sooner, just gotta say that the tech that took my blood was awesome, she smiled the whole time, made me feel welcome. When you need blood drawn or bodily fluids sampled, Quest is the best. The ease of making an appointment online and actually being called within a few minutes of your appt time should be enough to satisfy your lab needs, but the staff is always friendly and courteous - bonus. It's located on the bottom floor of a medical building off University Parkway. The waiting area reminds me of a clean version of a DMV in the DC area - sometimes it seems only interesting characters need to renew their license or get blood drawn. Everyone keeps to themselves though and waits patiently as the staff goes through the list. read more

I know things are different due to the Covid restrictions but they definitely need to do better. Once my daughter was seen the tech was competent and pleasant, but everything leading up to it was not good . My daughter had to go 3 times before she was able to get her blood drawn. She made the first available appointment which unfortunately was in the afternoon. She had to leave work early to make the appointment and after waiting for over half hour, was told due to the tests ordered an afternoon draw wouldn't be the best option. She was told by the tech to come back in the morning and ask for her. My daughter explained she had to be at work at 8, but she assured her that if she came at 7 when they opened she would take care of her. She told the check in person that Greta said to ask for her and gave him the post it she gave her. After 20 minutes she said the check in person gave the post it note to the tech. My daughter was told they would bring her back right after the next client. After two more people were called back and 50 minutes of waiting she had to leave. After a call to the call center by the NP the tech called and left vm's for her to come back but she couldn't as she was at work. Saturday I went with her and after multiple conversations with the check in person and an hour of waiting they finally called her back. You shouldn't tell someone to come back unless you are going to accommodate them and not treat them like a walk-in. They are obviously way understaffed or overbooked or both as people with appointments were getting pulled back 30-40 minutes after their appointment and one lady was a diabetic and at risk for hypoglycemia and had to complain multiple times before they pulled her back. read more

title: "They just stared at me through the glass, shook their head no, or moved fingers in a no gesture!" and this is why i'm hopping mad, so here I am. not sure that Quest cares, but you should. our daughter is older but needs our support a bit, so I'M writing. she's been having intestinal issues since the beginning of the year. we finally were referred to a gastro guy after a negative CT scan. she has a high pain tolerance, but has been in significant pain with no let up. dr. is going a new route since nothing is helping or diagnosing this issue. he ordered some new tests and procedures, and we made an appointment at Quest (for BLOODWORK and a stool sample test)the night before for 1:20pm the next day (today) with about 8 still open around that time. i messed up I THINK, and did not tap a possible confirm tab so when husband and daughter arrived they showed no appt scheduled. they kindly fit us in. it was 3:00 when they left and with a stool sample kit, and were told to bring it right back. we assumed wrongly that they were at least open until 4:00 to drop off the sample. daughter was able to provide one. we rushed back, got there about 3:50 and the door was locked. this test was a pretty significant one as she's had little to no movements since January, other than "liquid" ( i'm sorry). i knocked and knocked on every door and window they had. i could see lights on and hoped they might let us give them the sample. the final glass door we saw associated with Quest had all the days samples and blood vials ready to be picked up to go to the diagnostic lab. i knocked again, rang the bell in hopes they would walk by and see me with my "begging" face and put the sample with the rest for pickup. and this is where i get to what got me so upset. as i was walking away, i saw movement inside so i went back, tapped on the glass door and there were at least 5 employees just staring at me from the hall, and also close to the door. they could see me pointing to my daughter liquidy sample with a " please take this" look. it was obvious their days samples hadn't been picked up yet. again i repeat they all were, in my opinion, not empathetic, sympathetic or willing to let me leave the sample. don't they realize that some of these tests can mean life or death to some people ? i don't understand this lack of empathy or customer service. having been in customer service, it's difficult to understand this unwillingness to CARE or be a speck FLEXIBLE. yes, this IS a very lengthy complaint, but Quest, please, teach your employees to show some compassion, understanding and willingness to go that extra mile. one day sooner for these results for a patient who is in pain is so important. she has special needs as well, which doesn't help in this difficult time. . grr read more

It was painful and extremely frustrating! Not only I don't have bloodwork done, but I need to cancel a doctorl's appointment and wait for a new opening. Novice, uncaring site. Question: how is it possible to be in healthcare and lack the self discipline to avoid a manicure with 2 inch length artificial nails which prevents you to perform your duties? Kesha was courteous and quick at getting me checked in. Lisa is a gem! She greeted everyone with a smile. As bad as my veins are, she was able to access one on her first try and it didn't even hurt. This is the worst Quest testing site. I went to get fasting blood tests done and the phlebotomist was absolutely incompetent. She had trouble finding a proper vein and decided to draw blood from my hand. While she was doing that she kept moving the needle and poking me, even though I kept saying that hurts! Also, she kept venting about work with another employee and paid no attention to my issues. After this ordeal, when I didn't see my test results after 72 hrs, I called Quest customer service and found out that my tests were put on hold! I was not even informed about this, until I called! The supervisor of this center is supposed to call back with answers, but they are yet to. I've never experienced such incompetence. Quest Diagnostics should do my repeat blood tests for free, because I was fasting for these tests - it costed me time and more. Also, I'm not going to go back to this Shade Ave. center ever again. First off I would like to say that there is no priority for urgency at this place. My wife was attended by Christian Who was supposed to administer to her 3 hours glucose test to figure out if she needs further help with her glucose. He first went on to inject my wife all the way closest to the edge of her arm, nowhere near the center where her veins was at, causing her to swell up and bleed profusely out of the puncture. He then stated that he will be going to lunch but that she would get attended by somebody within an hour. Well more than an hour went by and my wife had not been looking at the time, she was hoping that somebody would pick her up like she was told she was going to. When she explained that she needed to get attended the staff had told her that Christian had not told anybody about what was going on. Very unprofessional and irresponsible. She got more blood drawn out of her by NIKKI who did a MUCH BETTER job than Christian, but she noticed that it was too late to draw her blood. Now we're going to go see the OB/GYN without any idea of how her glucose is doing, and my wife's arms hurts every time she bents it thank you Christian for being incompetent. read more

This place is a disaster. My employer scheduled an appointment for me for 10:30. I had a confirmation for it. They then sent me another confirmation for 10:00 apparently. I got here for the 10:30 appt and since they already called my name I had to wait so they could take me as a walk in. I waited over 1.5 hours to get in. As I was sitting here waiting, I noticed the same thing happened to multiple people. Never come here if you have a choice. Go to SMH lab. Things run much smoother over there. read more

Quest is now having their phlebotomists serve as their clerical people as well. This Shade location is very busy and used to have two receptionist/ clerical positions to maintain office flow and paperwork. They have cut those jobs so the lab people must do paperwork/ payment/ and lab work. Two or three jobs for the salary of one. Bet customer costs are not equally reduced. This used to be a 'go to' lab; now my recommendation is: find somewhere else where they care about their employees and customers. read more

The Cattleman Quest is a nightmare. The appt. system in inadequate which adds to the mess. I needed an 8 AM appt for a fasting cortisol test and was unable to schedule on line or by phone. When I went in for a different blood test I was told to show up for cortisol test at 7:45 without an appt and tell the desk that I needed 8 AM fasting cortisol test. I did as directed and when I arrived on another day at 7:45 I was told that I needed an appt or I should show up at 7:00. I tried to call the administrative office to make them aware of my negative experience and just continued to get the run-around voice mail. Stay away from Cattleman, Quest. I will use SMH for all my lab work. read more
