I've been going to the Quest Office at 2198 15th Street for the longest time--perhaps 20 years! It has always been a wonderful location with wonderful people. It does make me a little sad that the staff there now have to work so much harder, handling billing and check-in requests on top of their primary role as phlebotomists. That extra load seems outside the scope of their professional focus. Fortunately, even with these added responsibilities, the staff remain incredible. They are skilled, gentle--it never hurts me--and they are consistently warm, encouraging, polite, and clear in their explanations. I especially want to give a shout-out to Genesis, who was genuinely warm and curious about my weekend. She lit up when I told her how much I enjoyed seeing the play Nine to Five this past weekend, and that made the whole experience feel even more personal and human. The office itself is beautiful and clean, and Genesis even took her own time to put up some cheerful Hello Kitty printouts that brightened the walls. One suggestion that might make the space even more soothing would be to add some local artwork. Perhaps nearby artists might be willing to loan or donate pieces--something calming that would also showcase community talent. I think this would enhance an already excellent patient experience. I often tell my friends that if they need to get blood drawn and have the time, this is the office to visit. The only other teeny-tiny improvement I'd love to see would be the use of bandage wraps like they have at UCSF--ones that don't pull hair when they come off, which would be a relief for those of us with, shall we say, more arm hair read more

The phlebotomist was excellent. However, the office itself was sloppy and dilapidated. Cords were strewn about, the walls were scuffed, the signage was poorly done, and the check‑in iPad barely worked, with no staff available to assist. read more

I had a pretty negative experience a while ago while getting my blood drawn, in which the phlebotomist initially used the wrong needle size and was unsuccessful in drawing any blood. I still was charged despite this. I wish there was a little more training that went into the procedures here, so if you have any issues surrounding needles/blood draws I would suggest looking somewhere else! read more

Update of my 11/24/25 review: I tried to contact Quest Diagnostics at there 800 number yesterday to get a refund of my $189. Their offices were closed due to the fact they are on Eastern Standard Time. Called this morning and I was told they would refund my payment but retain a $20 cancellation fee. I don't think so! After 'chatting/complaining' about their website procedure with a couple of different reps, they finally gave in and I will receive my full payment within 7-days-14 days. After all was said and done, I contacted LabCorp and they were ez pz to deal with,,, I set up a date/time/location BEFORE relinquishing payment for the lab work... same price, too! read more

I have my regular appointment every month or so for my thyroid labs. Generally, it's an ok experience as long as you make an appointment in advance. Most of the technicians are consummate professionals! Last week was my first bad experience. I walked into a person accosting the technician for having sign in issues. But, I came early, checked in with no problems, and waited my turn. But, the technician seemed to take out her frustrations on me by declining to draw my blood. She stated that my name didn't match my ID (which it does) and wouldn't budge in spite of having multiple other forms of ID. This person wasted my time, was rude, and created an issue which I've never encountered in my two years of visiting Quest. I made an appointment that same day at another location without issue and they took me without a hitch. I recommend Post St or Millbrae Quest for better service. read more

I arrived before they closed for a walk-in appointment, but she wouldn't take me because it would keep her after 4 o'clock. That's not my problem. I went out of my way to get here. read more

This was my place for blood tests for years. Recently, it has been unreliable.Today I fasted and was leaving at 7:30 AM for an 8:10 AM appointment I had for months. When I checked my phone, Quest had texted me at 7 AM to cancel my appointment due to "facility maintenance." Totally unprofessional. I will be looking for a new place to get blood work done. Suggestions welcome! read more

I'll never go back to any Quest lab because: I booked an appointment weeks ago. When I arrived, I learned they: - Had a broken Adobe PDF viewer for weeks so they couldn't open the lab req from my doctor. - Made me wait & jump through hoops for 4+ hours. - Drew blood unnecessarily. I asked them not to draw blood for some things listed on the lab req. They confirmed multiple times that they understood before and after they drew my blood. When I got lab results back, I saw they drew my blood for things I asked them not to. - Had no toilet paper or paper towels all day. read more

I will start by saying staff are friendly and understanding, BUT highly unskilled and need more/better training. I went to this location twice 4 months ago. Both times, the 2 staff members could not take a draw due to being a "hard stick". Even the more senior staff member could not take a draw, this was incredibly frustrating but sometimes it is not their fault, I get it. But in the past I have never had an issue. Yes I have small veins, but the phlebotomist has always managed to find a vein. However, I then went to the Post St location and the woman there got my vein no problem. She couldn't understand how other staff members had such a hard time... I saw that same woman 2 times, and both times no problem at all. Fast forward to today, I went to the Post St location hoping to get the same woman but she was not there and instead it was the staff member from the 15th st location. I should have asked for a different staff member so that was on me, but of course, she could not find a vein. After a very uncomfortable 60 seconds of being poked at, she asked the other staff member, who got my vein right away! No problem at all. So I now have a very sore and bruised arm for nothing. Turns out I am not a hard stick, but the staff was inexperienced... I recommend asking for the senior staff member if you have any issue at all with smaller veins. read more

This place sucks! Run! Don't walk! Got an appointment, 1 hour later they say something happened to the system and they can't do my lab work! And they are not even sorry about it! They even checked my confirmation and they still didn't bother! If I could give zero stars I would!! read more

Not too bright and poor setup. I made the appointment and brought in all the paperwork I was given only to find out that I never made an appointment regardless of the paper stating that the appointment was at that specific time and at that specific address. I had an appointment scheduled through Function Health at Quest for this morning. Did all my fasting, no working out, etc only to have Quest cancel it at 6am. Tried calling the facility to understand why and couldn't even get through to a person. Very unprofessional. read more

I scheduled an appointment weeks in advance. On the day of my morning appointment, Quest canceled due to immediate maintenance needs at this facility. They offered no support in finding an alternative appointment and, of course, there were none available online. This facility is clearly poorly maintained and managed - I would recommend you avoid at all costs. read more

My experience was great tbh. 8:30 appt, showed up early and was back in my car by 8:30! Tech Martin big shoutout. I don't like needles and he couldn't have been nicer. read more

This location had been showing operating hours starting at 7am online for roughly a month. This morning I go in for labs only to find they actually open at 8. Google now reflects this as well. However I then stood with a growing crowd as 8 came and went by 8:20 with no one in sight to open I gave up. Other reviews are right don't bother with this place. read more

The most painless blood draw I've had since moving to SF years ago. The system for appointments is confusing and leaves a lot to be desired for clarity and efficiency. They employees are good people there, I'm glad to know about this location near Castro. They do good work and put up with patients having a cranky tantrum to scheduling issues like me! Thank you. read more

quest diagnostics is the worst! I paid for my labs. They gave me an appointment at the 15th St. location when I got here, It's not even open. The sign says to go to a location downtown but now I don't have an appointment and I fasted. They are so inconvenient and then you can't talk to a person. terrible terrible company why do they take appointments for a close location? I waited a month for this appointment. -0 stars read more

The worst quest. Had an appointment at 340, checked in 335, no seating so I stepped outside to wait. Appointment time rolls around and I'm still waiting but now inside. Two walk-ins seen before me and then at 412 they tell me they're closed. I explained my appointment, and that they haven't called me only to be met with "oh we called you at these times," I was in the waiting room, I was not called. They then give me their customer service number which was closed, so pretty fucking useless. Don't waste your time. Inept patient queue, inept staff. read more

Terrible experience with this lab today. I'm caretaker for a friend who is an Alzheimer's patient. He participated in a study at UCSF & part of his agreement with them was to get lab work. They sent him a box with instructions to make an appointment at Quest & give them the box. We made an appointment but when checking in with their iPad at the door (there was no human to check with). We came to the insurance option there was nothing describing our situation, so the system checked him in as a walk-in. There was only one person there. His name was Alan & he was quite rude. He didn't allow me to explain the situation & insisted my friend would not be seen until after all the appointments. This caused some distress as people with appointments kept filing in & I had a medical appointment of my own to get to. Meanwhile, I was able to access his email on my phone & show him that he indeed had an appointment. Once he got started it took several minutes to process the paperwork. Alan did eventually apologize... but Quest needs to either pay for someone to man the front desk or improve on their check in options. Try another Quest site. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS QUEST SITE. Even with an appointment, you will probably wait for an hour or more. I waited for almost two hours, and then they said they would have to close early without seeing everyone in the waiting room. I was not even able get my tests done, awful experience. Another woman there had tried to drop off her sample, and she waited for over 30 minutes just to do a drop-off. The employees there seemed nice but TOTALLY overworked, Quest really needs to hire more employees. read more

Quick, efficient experience for a pre-employment drug screening. Booked an appointment online and was able to find an afternoon appointment fairly easily. Check-in was done on a tablet screen. Make sure to have your appointment number (had difficulty with the camera scanning my code though) or your contact info is enough to check you in. No real contact with anybody at the front. The lady who helped me was very friendly and the whole process was a breeze. I was in and out in about ten mins. Appt was done on time too. read more

Should have checked the reviews in the location before I scheduled an appointment. I did not know that if you are past 10 minutes late they won't take you. I was 15 minutes late coz I didn't find a parking spot right away. So I did sign up for a walk-in. 45 minutes have passed, I did not get any update. The staff don't even acknowledge you. They're not busy too there's only like 3 people inside waiting. Then a lady shouted from their room (did not even go to the waiting area) said that "If you have no appointment, we won't take you" Okay so then REMOVE THE WAIT LIST OPTION in the log in screen then if you guys won't even consider it! I would have understood that you won't take patients if they're late but AT LEAST TELL THEM OR ACKNOWLEDGE THEM TO JUST COME BACK AND SCHEDULE A DIFFERENT DAY. read more

Needed to get a urine drug test for my new job. I only have a week to transition from my old job to new job, so when I was notified of this requirement with a 3/10 deadline, I tried to make an appointment ASAP for early morning (hoping for 8am) but had nothing available. Only afternoon appointments, but I couldn't lose a whole afternoon from work taking the bus to take a test. I tried calling several times seeing if they could make an exception or if I could make an early appointment on the call, but of course no one answered. I called multiple times and tried to connect to an operator, and still no answer. On the automated service they said they only do drug tests from 12pm-4pm. But I saw other reviews and others came in as walk-ins at 8am and were able to do their drug tests quickly with no issues. So I decided to try that since no one would answer and I couldn't miss work. I was there at 7:55am, checked-in, and at 8:16am one of the employees called my name and told me they aren't doing drug testing. I told her I know, but if they could please make an exception this one time since I had to work in the afternoon. It was a simple urine test, I really don't think it could be that complicated. Another one of her colleagues came up to me and said "you don't see the big signs that say drug test from 12 to 4?" very rudely. I said yes I did, but I need to work in the afternoon and couldn't come in those hours. He said they could do nothing about it, so I just turned around and left. No wonder they have so many bad reviews, Quest should honestly be ashamed of their service. 1) Having no one answer the phone is ridiculous 2) The hours of operation of Mon-Fri 8am to 4pm, and not open on weekends. 3) Drug testing only from 12pm - 4pm How is anyone with a regular 40 hour/week job supposed to get anything done with them? read more

Horrible experience there, today, 2/7/23. I had to fast last night and was waiting at the door at opening time to complete several important tests. The phlebotomist was late and angry on arrival. I had been going there for a long time with no problem and with NO appointments. This phlebotomist declined ANY service, although Quest gives priority to clients with appointments and only accommodates "walk-ins"--NOT at this location. If company policy states this preference and specifically says that it will accept walk-in patients, they need to respect that and not to misrepresent themselves. In short, Quest needs to clarify its "admissions" policy, to implement and respect it, and--most importantly--to teach its employees BASIC MANNERS. A 72-year-old patient, who fasts overnight and walks blocks to Quest, does not tolerate bullying from RUDE staff. I spoke with both Quest's headquarters today and a local contact. I have now scheduled another appointment. I will fast again, rise early again, and try to get actual testing in another two days. read more

This place is garbage. I came in at 11:45, there were two people in front of me, but 35 minutes go by and no one has been called yet. The computer said it's at 20 minute wait but I've been here way longer than that. I went to go ask them what's going on cuz I'm here to take a urine drug test so obviously I had to pee, and told them I have to go do the guy had the nerve to tell me to come back later, like I have nothing to do all day. How rude. Don't come here unless you want to get yelled at. read more

We already know I've praised the Daly City location of this lab. Now it's time for this San Francisco location. I had to do a drug screen for my great new job. As is the case for all of us who work for reputable businesses that have seriously high profit margins, we undergo extensive, exhaustive vetting. My employer paid for me to have drug testing done here. I walked in without an appointment and did my test. I was in and out within 10 minutes. No fuss, no line, easy peasy. Clean, professional staff, easy parking. Of course the results for every drug I was screened for came out negative. I'm a good girl. My employer is super happy. I am very happy.. The lab got paid so they are happy. It's a win-win-win for everyone involved! Thank you to the staff at Quest Diagnostics for a really fast, easy drug test! I recommend! read more

Having gone through super fun things like IVF I've had more than my fair share of blood tests so I feel like a competent judge of needle stickers (phlebotomists). I love that this Quest is located in a neighborhood instead of a big medical building so I can pop in before work. I've never been without an appointment (you can make one online so it's super easy) so I'm always in and out right away. Today I went for an 8:45. I got there at 8:15 and despite all the appointments before me I was still done before my appointment time came up. Beware of this lab! I was going to this lab for years and recently they have cancelled my appointment the day of the appointment twice because they're "undergoing maintenance". I was very worried reading all of these reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. I booked my appointment for a urine drug screen for my nursing program about a week ago. It was for 12:40-12:55pm. I arrived at 12:15, checked in on the tablet with my confirmation # and ID. I was called at 12:30 and it literally took 5 minutes. I was back to my car at 12:36, even before my appointment time. urine test was super fast and simple. Maybe I got lucky, it didn't seem like it was too busy, 3 or 4 other people were there and they also went in and out rather fast. Keep in mind that they only do urine drug screen from 12-4pm despite being open beyond those hours. overall great experience. read more
