I was seen by wonderful imaging tech who obviously knew her stuff and moved things right along (the best mammogram techs definitely have some of the best people skills on the planet, if you ask me!). Afterward, I went downstairs to get some blood work done which had been previously ordered by my nurse practitioner. A wonderfully streamlined and nearly 100% painless process, facilitated by a pleasant and highly skilled phlebotomist. It couldn't have gone better. My only concern: at the mammogram check-in, at the front of the patient line next to mine, a prospective patient was being quizzed by a staff member. Seems that the patient was in the prep process for some sort of surgery(?). The staff member seemed quite hard of hearing and spoke incredibly loudly. Everyone in the check-in line, but also those who were in the waiting room 30 feet away, could hear every word as the staffer asked questions. Did the patient have tattoos, piercings, breast augmentations, etc. The patient answered softly and seemed mortified that her business was being broadcast so widely. I have good hearing, but I had to lean in very close to the other staff member to hear what she was telling me because her colleague was speaking so loudly. Perhaps pre-op sessions could be done in a private room(?)

Every year I need to have a blood test done, and in the past I would call the golden mile office, and it would take 5 minutes to schedule an appointment. This year under AHN I called the Golden mile office, got transfered to a central AHN call center, waited over 20 minutes to talk to someone, then after a bunch of questions they told me they couldn't make an appointment at that location and I should call them. I had to explain that is what I originally did but got transfered to them, so they tried calling the golden mile office and put me on hold. After another 5 minutes they came back and said there was no answer and that they would leave a message with the office and have someone call me back. So after nearly 60 minutes I still had no appointment, and no idea if or when someone might call me back

I walked in (no appointment needed) and signed in on the sign-up sheet. A woman that worked there told me to "just sit down and they'll call you". I started to sit and before I got onto the chair they called me in. It was maybe 3 minutes from top to bottom! The person drawing the blood (wish I remembered her name...) literally had a needle in my vein immediately and got the blood she needed. The whole visit took about 10 minutes max! I can't say enough about how efficient it all was. Granted, they could be much busier at other times and it might take longer but I was impressed. A+

I have to say i was a little confused as to how to rate this so called hospital…read more My son was very sick and has AHN insurance. My wife took him to AHN Mccandless Hospital. The nurses and doctors where fine the receptionists where fine as well. My problem is that they call it a hospital when it really is just a big urgent care facility. After blood work and testing the doctor said that they where not capable of diagnosing my sons problems as they do not have any specialty doctors on staff. What the heck no specialty doctors why even call yourself a hospital???????. The doctors said they where going to transfer him to Wexford Hospital. I do not get it they do thousands and thousands of dollars in tests only to say they can't do anything to help. Then to boot some one is paying for an ambulance to transfer him to the other hospital. If I was you I would avoid this so called hospital like the plague. I will be sure to never go here again. This is not a hospital so do not be fooled into thinking it is. If you have basic problems I am sure they can help, But anything remotely serous there is no way for them to help you. I must say again please do not go here unless you have no serious problems. With that said It was our fault for going here. I would normally give one star but the nurses and even the doctors where very nice even if they could not help. Normally for this level of care I would probably give 3-4 stars. Overall I will give 2 stars which is very generous.
