Horrible scheduling system, many older individuals waited for hours due to not understanding and completing the checking process. When the they were able to ask a "live" person, she stated "well did you check in?" She didn't double check to see what the issues was and ignored the fact that they needed assistance. I personally waited an hour past my scheduled appointment, made 5 days in advanced and I came in an hour early so I wouldn't be late. Dozens of people "walk-ins" were taken before me. Horrible from start to finish. The waiting room is extremely small, it was crowded and no one was 6 ft distanced from each other during Covid. I felt like an animal when they sat me down and a nurse put a tunicate around my arm so harshly I told her and she made some comment and ignored me. She jammed a needle so hard into me I was in extreme pain for my blood draw and she simply did not care. Nor apologized or tried to comfort me. I have had tons of blood drawn recently and I know this is not the RIGHT or COMPASSIONATE way. 4 days later I have an embarrassing bruise I have to cover up. As Seinfeld put it, they know how to take the reservation, but they don't know how to HOLD the reservation. And that's really the most important part. Prepare to wait at least a half hour from your appointment time to be seen. During this time, bring your noise-canceling headphones or prepare to be subjected to a blaring television set complete with handwritten sign not to touch the controls. The narrow waiting room could use a good vacuuming; otherwise, it's unremarkable. Upon entering the procedure room, suck in your gut because there is barely enough room for you and your phlebotomist in this closet. The one saving grace is that taking vial after vial of blood all day long makes these folks pretty good at it, so that part at least, isn't so bad. So I tried 3x to make an appointment with Quest. The first time it just didn't go through. The second time. They couldn't find the correct order for the test they were supposed to do for me, ordered by my doctor. The woman took my bloodwork anyway and guessed it was for something else. I then went upstairs to my doctor who found the order on the system twice. So they applied it a 3rd time. Also printing me out a copy, so they wouldn't try to pull shit on me again. When I'm for the test again Saturday morning at 9am. The place was empty, but the only time available was 11:20am. Each time I have tried to set an appointment with them. They tell me they allow walk-in's only. Also there is never anyone available at the front desk for me to ask any questions about anything. So we waited until 11:20 for this test to be done again, after going in. The woman(wish I got her name.) was very rude, and has absolutely zero social skills. Claimed they couldn't do the test because it takes a hour to do so. She stated I should have made an appointment or came in earlier. I explained that I have tried this multiple times and that every time I try to set a appointment they tell me walk-in's only. That I have also been here since 9am!! So she complains that she will just have to stay late for me "she guesses" . I wait for about 45minutes instead of the required hour for her to do the blood work, she bruised the hell out of my arm, it took a few minutes to stop the bleeding after I left. Phlebotomist completely missed drawing blood for 1of 3 orders I had in the system. This was a time sensitive test and had I not found out it was missed (1 week later) I would not have been able to obtain accurate results from the test. I had to waste my time to go back down to quest and get blood re drawn for this missed test. In the week I was waiting for the result I even called quest customer service to ask about the status of the test and multiple different customer service reps told me it was in progress awaiting a result...come to find out the test was never drawn. Then when I went back in to get the test redrawn I did not feel it appropriate for quest to bill my insurance as I should not expect to pay anything for a test that was missed as a result of employee incompetence that almost cost me to not be able to get the test in the specified time by my doctor. The phlebotomist had to call the "supervisor" who was extremely arrogant, rude, and argumentative over the phone about me not having to pay for the test. He did not show any accountability for the situation that happened and told me my insurance had to be billed or I had to pay out of pocket for the test on site before leaving if I wanted it done that day even after he was told the situation was under investigation and I should not have had to provide payment or have insurance billed at that time. Supervisor name was James D. Loughner. The phlebotomist I dealt with upon having to go back for the redraw said they have been having to fix that specific phlebotomists errors for a while now. Truly reassuring to be dealing with such incompetency from the patient service center as well as quest customer service on the phone...especially when it comes to people accessing health care and expecting to get results and care in a timely manner. Being that I am going through treatment for cancer a second time , I certainly don't need their incompetence and attitude. I go to other quests and am quite happy. I had the best experience in this location while getting blood drawn. I am terrified of getting my blood taken and I am a very difficult stick. The phlebotomists working were very nice and kind toward my sensitivity as well as not causing me any pain. The entire process was extremely quick and I barely waited at all. Beware. They will ask for what they consider a co-payment before they even submit to your insurance. They won't accept cash and will ask to have a credit card on file. This is not a good business practice and is actually scary, as they could use your card to apply any charges they want. I was told to make an $800 payment prior to a blood draw at this facility before they even submitted it to my insurance. I went to the hospital to have that blood drawn and I ended up owing nothing. I honestly can't even believe the treatment I received from these "healthcare professionals" yesterday. I had an order for yearly bloodwork, which would require 10 vials of blood. I warned the phlebotomist that I have trouble with medical things and she shrugged it off and said I would do fine. During the draw, she was COMPLETELY SILENT, instead of trying to make conversation to distract me like other techs have done in the past. So I ended up having a vasovagal attack and blacked out a few times. She was silent during that as well and barely even seemed to care if I was ok. I was SOAKED in sweat and told her what was happening, and it didn't seem to register for her. This is a pretty common thing, so I don't understand how you have a whole office of people who are unfamiliar with it. I asked if I could lie down so I wouldn't pass out and was told that "the reclining chair is in use." Super embarrassingly, I had to go to the restroom REALLY BADLY during all of this, and the most they would do to help me was call my husband back (I was lucky he was there!) to help. They mostly glared at me and asked my husband what he was doing standing around while I used the restroom and eventually made my way to the reclining chair. During these attacks, it is VERY DANGEOUS to try to walk around because of the risk of fainting, and a tech took the chair my husband needed to use to wheel me to the restroom and didn't offer it back when she saw me struggling to walk there. The attacks usually last 20 minutes or so for me, but this one was prolonged by my bathroom emergency, so it was more like 40. An employee even came back as I was getting up to leave and made a snide remark about how they usually only "allow" patients to use the chair for 15 minutes and then have to call an ambulance if it's any longer. What?? We felt like the staff couldn't have cared any less about what happened to me and was annoyed that my condition took so long to improve. Guess what? If I had my way, I would have felt better immediately too! But these people clearly need more training on both vasovagal attacks AND empathy for patients. I will never, ever return to a Quest because of this horrible experience with uneducated and uncaring "professionals." read more
