This year under AHN I called the Golden mile office, got transfered to a central AHN call center, waited over 20 minutes to talk to someone, then after a bunch of questions they told me they couldn't make an appointment at that location and I should call them. I had to explain that is what I originally did but got transfered to them, so they tried calling the golden mile office and put me on hold. After another 5 minutes they came back and said there was no answer and that they would leave a message with the office and have someone call me back. So after nearly 60 minutes I still had no appointment, and no idea if or when someone might call me back

First, I had an appointment with the nurse practitioner Ann Patterson. After a short wait in the waiting room, a friendly medical assistant measured my height and weight and took my vital signs. She said that my blood pressure of 114/62 was "low," but actually it is normal. (I am a registered nurse.) After a wait of several minutes, the nurse practitioner entered the room. She spoke very courteously to me. She discussed my and my family's medical history. Then she performed a physical examination. She ordered a routine vaccine, laboratory tests, and an x-ray. Many minutes later, another employee entered the room to administer the vaccine, but he had mistakenly drawn up a slightly different type. Several minutes later, he returned with the correct vaccine. He properly administered it into my deltoid muscle. After this appointment, I visited other departments to receive my laboratory tests and x-rays. UPMC put the test results on their website, and the nurse practitioner wrote notes to explain that my results were normal. One year later, I had an appointment with the physician Jennifer Mall. A medical assistant took my height, weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate. My appointment was in the early morning, but the physician did not arrive at work until 45 minutes later. The medical assistant said that the physician usually arrives late so she can drop her children off at school. I think that they should not make me wait 45 minutes. The physician asked some questions, did a brief physical assessment, and ordered routine laboratory tests. Later, at home, I logged onto UPMC's website to view the physician's Visit Summary and Notes. I felt surprised to see a temperature recorded for me, because nobody ever took my temperature. I have no medical conditions, so no follow-ups or treatments are needed.

She told me that I'm "an adult and pregnant I can figure it out on my own" I hope she sees this and realizes how pathetic she sounded and should rethink the way she speaks to people. I will never be going to this Lab Corp. I drove 25min out of my way to go to the cranberry labcorp. I wish I could give a negative star! Meanwhile little does she know the information she "gave" me on how to take the test ended up being wrong, I did it completely different at the cranberry location. Clearly she doesn't know how to do her job lol.

I visited the Jefferson Brentwood Breast Center this week for a routine mammogram. It was a…read morepleasant, very clean facility with clear signage that made it easy to find my way. I was seen by wonderful imaging tech who obviously knew her stuff and moved things right along (the best mammogram techs definitely have some of the best people skills on the planet, if you ask me!). Afterward, I went downstairs to get some blood work done which had been previously ordered by my nurse practitioner. A wonderfully streamlined and nearly 100% painless process, facilitated by a pleasant and highly skilled phlebotomist. It couldn't have gone better. My only concern: at the mammogram check-in, at the front of the patient line next to mine, a prospective patient was being quizzed by a staff member. Seems that the patient was in the prep process for some sort of surgery(?). The staff member seemed quite hard of hearing and spoke incredibly loudly. Everyone in the check-in line, but also those who were in the waiting room 30 feet away, could hear every word as the staffer asked questions. Did the patient have tattoos, piercings, breast augmentations, etc. The patient answered softly and seemed mortified that her business was being broadcast so widely. I have good hearing, but I had to lean in very close to the other staff member to hear what she was telling me because her colleague was speaking so loudly. Perhaps pre-op sessions could be done in a private room(?)
