The receptionist greeted me warmly and immediately set a positive tone for my visit. The doctor was not only pleasant but incredibly thorough. He took the time to listen and made sure all of my concerns were addressed. I felt HEARD and truly felt like my care mattered. Unlike many ER experiences, the doctor didn't just see me once and disappear. He returned several times throughout my visit to discuss results, answer questions, and make sure I understood everything. He made sure I had an after care plan and explained that all as well. Nurse Pam was absolutely amazing. She is caring, gentle, knowledgeable, and exceptional at what she does. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood what I needed to know before leaving and she was pleasant to talk to. Jackie, the CT technologist, was also wonderful. She was kind, warm, professional, and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. She explained everything before we started so there were no surprises. She was also very pleasant to talk to. I would also like to recognize the young lady who was shadowing. She was kind, professional, and attentive throughout my visit. She asked important questions about my medical history, drug allergies and did a wonderful job making sure I was comfortable. Her compassion and professionalism were evident, and she has a bright future ahead of her in healthcare. Before I was discharged, the staff made sure I had all of my results, understood my next steps, and had every opportunity to ask questions. I never felt like I was being rushed out of the door. The facility itself was clean, organized, and well-maintained. Most importantly, every person I encountered treated me with kindness and compassion. I am truly grateful for the outstanding care I received. This facility is staffed by genuinely great people who CLEARLY care about their patients. The time taken to explain the illness, treatment protocol, medication dosing, need for return if symptoms worsen in both verbal and written method assured we had complete understanding how to care for ourselves on discharge. The quick response placing my daughter in a room from the lobby, exam, and lab tests was impressive. This group of professionals from registration, to MD, NP, RN, and lab could give a seminar on how to provide excellence in care to Free Standing and hospital based ER's. Its the standard others should strive for none less. After they got testing back with her permission they told us we were at risk, due to the type infection and our exposure to her sickness. We were tested and prescribed prophylaxis as recommended by CDC which checked the box for standards of care as well. Healthcare treatment is a choice and as an Registered Nurse myself working over 40 plus years in critical care and ED sometimes your experience is far less than desired or standards of care. Today as a family we were lucky to choose Rice Emergency Room. We are from out of town just blindly walked in but if I lived in Houston Rice ED would be my first choice for care.
