Could not be a worse experience. We went without an appointment because there were no appointments within an hour drive in the morning (fasting test) for a week. Waited 1.5 hours-never got called or even told that they wouldn't see us unless there was a cancellation. I was the only drop in patient there and they never even acknowledged I was waiting. There is no check in staff to give any information. Then went back with an appointment, waited again and finally got told there is no doctors order. There is no way to confirm whether they have the order or not until you sit there and wait to be called. Hours of wasted time. They need to bring back the check in staff and also have an extra phlebotomist or built in time to see at least a few drop in patients. read more

If I could give it 1 star I would. Couldn't get an online appointment so did walk in as 'standby'. The tablet to check in is confusing, even for a youngish tech pro. The first tech poked me so many times, then the blood draw just stopped. So another tech had to come help and she completed the draw. No one has ever struggled to draw my blood in my entire life. Got a call that afternoon that they 'forgot' one of my tests, and one of my tests was done 'too late'- it requires a 9:00 deadline which my doctor didn't tell me. I got into the room at 9:03am so quest wouldn't process it. They told me to make an appointment which I couldn't do of course and said 'we will try to help you as standby then'. I asked if someone like a manager could add me to the system- nope. So I walked in the next morning and checked in at 8:20 (after school drop offs) and asked if they can try to get my 2nd draw in before 9, especially given the mistake of the day prior. They told me 'tough luck' and said 'make an appointment'. There are no morning appointments availble within an hour in the next 10 days. The systems this company has put in place simply don't make sense. If a customer is there- ready to test- and you messed up their test the day prior, it's common sense to just modify the 'list order'. It should have taken 5-10 minutes. So net net- choose another brand of lab. Any other place is better than this! If you do go to quest- or an elderly parent is sent there- be sure to go with them to help them check-in on iPad and expect a significant Standby wait time (60 plus minutes even early morning) if you don't have an appoitment. Helpful hint- your order on the wait list is displayed on the TV. Quest- as a publically traded company in the health care service- you can do better than this. Watching elderly folks struggle with this system was heartbreaking (I helped multiple folks check in while i was waiting). read more

I was nervous based on all the poor reviews, but I had an excellent experience at this location. My technician Amanda was great-very thorough, professional, genuinely nice, and efficient. I can't look when I'm having blood drawn, and I noticed a flurry of activity while it was happening. It seemed to take longer than usual, but when we were done, Amanda told me the test request from my doctor called for SIX VIALS. She apologized, but I told her that she did it in about the same amount of time that a tech on a previous visit took to draw four vials. I saw at least three technicians when I was there (a Monday morning 8:15am Christmas week), so they must have fixed the staffing issues others were complaining about. The intake process was also seamless-I made an appointment ahead of time (a very simple process which I recommend), checked in virtually on my phone in my car in the parking lot, and the technician greeted me within 1 minute of coming in the door. Whomever had those awful experiences here never had an encounter with Erica L. And I'm sorry for that. If you had, not only would you have left a 5* review, but you'd have met someone who possibly could have restored your faith in mankind. Seriously. That good yes. That kind and efficient and pleasant, yes. When you meet someone who shows up so completely, who remains positive-even while doing the work of many and there's only her-, who makes each patient feel comforted by her attentiveness, that, yes, can restore your faith in humans. My daughter had never had a blood draw and she's 17. Understandably a bit nervous, Erica assuaged her fears instantly. They talked about a Netflix series they'd both seen and the distraction tamped down all anxiety. There was a little wait prior and we heard her talking with the other patients and remarked how kind she treated each one even though she had to do some epic multi tasking. What a lovely human this girl. I hope they recognize she's invaluable. Contrary to the disposable society we live in now, no not everyone is replaceable. read more

Buyer beware. Staff and appointment process were fine. However, Quest billing engages in sharp business practices which are financially painful to the patient. In my case, Quest did not bill Medicare for my bloodwork and chose to bill me instead. It was very costly and, in my opinion unethical. I will not be back. read more

I read the reviews however I had a completely different experience I came in on a Saturday morning just after opening There was no line and the place was empty so my visit to quest was fast and efficient Upon arrival I checked in with the desk does he have a seat did a couple of minutes later The door open and they called our name The lady who drew the blood was courteous professional and good at her job getting my blood work taking care of here was a breeze The facility is by no means gigantic so I can see how if every chair in the waiting area was feel you might be here for a while If you would like to have a smoother experience I would suggest making an appointment as that would give you a better chance Quest is one of the nearest facilities near my home and my experience was painless and I will come back. read more

I am a doctor. I made an incision in a patient to obtain a specimen, could only get a very small one. I sent the patient to the lab with the very small specimen in a container. The lab thought the specimen container was empty. Rather than tell the patient or call me, they threw the specimen container out. I found out 2 days later when the patient called me. I was never called by Quest. This is a disaster for the patient, as I cannot obtain another specimen without making another incision. I tried to call the lab, using the Doctors Line. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door saying the lab was closed due to an emergency. My time is important too and they should have notified the folks with appointments that they were canceled for the day. I have to make yet another trip to this lab to give a sample. I have gone to the Laboratory at 5 Bon Air in Greenbrae for the past 30 years, even before it was Quest. They push you to schedule and appointment or "we cannot guarantee that you will be seen". I will admit, when you have the flexibility to schedule an appointment anytime in the next week or two, it works well. However, finding the time slots in the morning for fasting tests is difficult. They treat seniors, very ill patients and those with language barriers poorly. I saw one poor lady who took an Uber at her doctors direction to get a test ASAP. They told her to make an appointment for 4 hours later if it was available. I am disgusted with their system and they are short staffed and have NO one there to help. The patients were trying to help others. Unacceptable. I will try to find another lab anywhere else. read more

I had an appointment to get a drug screening for my employer and they called and canceled my appointment so I had to reschedule my appointment for two days later and then when I went to get my drug screening to get it done the place was closed due to lack of staff very angry no call no nothing, had to drive to San Francisco after. After visiting my Dr. nearby I walked into an empty lobby. Thinking it may have been after closing (hours were noted on the door) I checked my phone to make sure I was arriving at a reasonable time. It was 4:30 and they closed at 5:00 PM. Despite my smile and "hello" the woman at the front counter was expressionless and cold. I let her know I had two lab sheets and one of which was to draw blood and the other to both draw blood and pick up a prescription. I handed her both of the sheets so she could see for herself and help me choose the correct one. Evidently annoyed she handed back the one that included a prescription and made a rude comment about the lab offering blood draws and not prescriptions. Sitting in the lobby I watched her be rude to two other customers that came in after me including an elderly woman who was being very sweet. The lobby water dispenser was empty. Though I thought she was only the receptionist she was also the woman to draw my blood. Calling me back - still not a smile or any hint of kindness - I took a seat in their back room. In my arms I held my 10 month old son, who would have been quite restless and noisy had I not been holding him. She abrasively swabbed my arm, stuck my vein with the needle, and then, completely inept, required me to use the hand I was holding my infant with to hold the cotton in place while she fumbled around to find a piece of tape. After being pregnant two years in a row and having multiple blood draws at several other Quest locations and additional labs I have to say this was the least pleasant experience I've ever had. Having to return to another lab for my second blood draw and prescription the wonderful lady who helped me today was an angel compared to the mean flobotamist I encountered yesterday. Luckily I don't have any weird fear of needles but if you have the slightest apprehension about getting blood drawn make sure you ask the name of the person doing the work. If the young girl isn't smiling or friendly and is named Jessica just say thanks and walk out the door. Marin General Hospital is around the corner and far more capable and kind. Trust me, you don't want an easily avoidable bruise on your arm simply because someone doesn't seem to like people nor their occupation. read more

Quest lab is terrible.l. The screen said 15 minutes wait when I checked in. Now 30 minutes later says 25 minutes. Seems only two person working here. another time I came on a Saturday morning. I and other patients waited outside but no one showed up to work even though they were supposed to be open. Good luck trying to get anyone to answer the phone. I was extremely impressed with my visit yesterday at quest lab on South Eliseo! I certainly have waited at times before, however, this time my weight was approximately two minutes just as the intake kiosk said it would be! My phlebotomist, Laura, was extremely efficient and gentle. I could not even feel her insertion of the needle and I was in and out within 10 minutes! Also if someone is time pressed, consider making an online appointment for your draw. Overall wonderful experience! Got my results last night online! Great service. read more

Truly awful, try to avoid. Unfortunately for me, it was the only Quest nearby with Saturday hours. Was ignored for 10 minutes as I stood at reception area, until I interrupted the phlebotomist making a photocopy in front of me while trying to ignore me standing there. Finally determined that the sign-in sheet facing away from me was the process for getting checked in. Extremely slow - waited 40 minutes while they saw TWO people ahead of me. Then the phlebotomist was truly awful - couldn't find my vein in one arm, hurt/bruised the other. She wouldn't let go of the needle so was changing tubes one-handed (not necessary), nor would she take off the tourniquet (also unnessary, and uncomfortable). Slow, rude, and incompetent. Checked into an empty waiting room. Monitor said 3 min waiting time. Another woman checked in after me for drop off. She got priority for some reason. After 20 min I'm still sitting there waiting. Then the nightmare started. In one room my information was taken, then I was handed off to another person to another room. I was punctured 3 !!! times by two different women and to top it all off I couldn't find a trashcan or soap when completing the urine sample. I will NEVER return to this place again. When I arrived, the place was full of people who had not scheduled appointments and were walk-ins (the sign-in sheet indicates who has and has not schedule an appointment). I arrived 10 min before 10 am and as of 10:30 I still have not been called back. It would be nice if they informed you that despite making an appointment you have to wait with the rest of the walk-ins. I guess the level of service here really varies depending on who's working. The lady who assisted me was the only one in the office, so the unfortunate people who did not have an appointment (I made one in advance, which you can do online) were waiting for quite a while. That said, the woman who did the intake and phlebotomy on me was wonderful. Polite, gentle, thorough, pleasant. This really makes me question Quest Diagnostics quality control, both of their staff and of their laboratories. I've been to another Quest location and had a horrible experience due to the ineptitude and rudeness of the staff. I could have driven 20 min to another quest to drop off by the time they actually got to me. This was my 1st visit to Quest, & I was apprehensive about it after reading some of the bad reviews. I arrived at 8:05 this AM, & tapped the desired information (name, address, phone #, & DOB) into a device by the receptionist's window. There was no 1 sitting at the receptionist's window. Another person entered the waiting room as I sat down. About 2 or 3 minutes later a young lady opened the door & asked me to come in, & go to room #2. She ran my insurance cards thru a device to record them, then typed some information into a computer which resulted in a label machine to spit out 5 labels which she attached to 4 vials, & a urine sample container. She then stuck my vein, drew the blood, & we were done. As I'd gone to the bathroom ~15 min. before getting there, I took the container home, & returned it later in the morning. When I left, there 2 people in the waiting room. I walked out the door at 8:25 AM. It was 1 of, if not the best, of my experiences w/blood draws, etc. read more

We went in to do a blood kit yesterday. Despite having three people there, it took 20 minutes before anyone checked the waiting area. When we got there there was one person ahead of us, almost half an hour later only one patient had been in. I was eventually brought back, and was told to wait in a chair for another ten minutes. The woman who came out and brought me in was incredibly slow, taking 15 minutes for basic data entry once I entered the room. She seemed unprofessional in her behavior and made me uncomfortable, I should have gone with my instincts and asked someone else for the draw. She put in a butterfly needle upside down at a 45° angle off of parallel from my vein (which I have repeatedly been told by phlebotomists that it's one of the easiest they've ever drawn from). I felt two distinct punctures and more pain than I should have. I've never had lasting marks from any blood draw or shot, but when I took the bandage off there was a bruise and a ridge where the needle had gone in. Today it is still in pain and swollen. read more

This is by far the best Quest around. I get blood taken a lot because of my hypothyroidism and have gone to a lot of different places to get blood taken. The people here are quick and are always super friendly! They also work really hard to make sure you feel comfortable and will tell you every single thing they're about to do, and are very gentle. read more

My step-son had to go here to have blood work. It was a horrible experience! There was only one person doing everything, from reception/phones to drawing blood, and she stuck him in both arms, painfully, unable to find a vein (he's 48 and this has NEVER been a problem for him before). She ended up getting it from the back of his hand, and leaving painful bruises everywhere she tried. Sadly he's on Medi-Cal, so Quest is the only place available to him, or we would avoid it like the plague. I highly recommend anyone who CAN avoid Quest, do so!! read more

My summary: I have been coming here for years and have never had a "good" visit. There is always some sort of rudeness, ineptitude or inappropriate behavior. I went there yesterday and was treated horribly. My details: I have blood drawn about 4-6 times per year. A few years back, this Quest (in Greenbrae) had two men working here. They were obnoxious in the "player" sense. One of them flirted outrageously with me and I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. He asked me out on several occasions and I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. Consequently, I was afraid to get my blood drawn. Skip to this last week. I called during business hours and no one answered. Left a message asking them to call me to verify that my physician in Los Angeles had faxed my orders. I didn't want to fast and drive two hours roundtrip for nothing. Never received a call. I made an appointment on line for two days later. I showed up on time and was greeted by a very unhappy and rude young woman. (Perhaps it is the Jessica that the first reviewer speaks of.) She doesn't smile and her eyes are filled with disdain and boredom. Every step of my procedure from signing-in to the exchange of my insurance card to signing some forms were such a trial for this woman. I've hardly ever been treated so rudely. She treated me as if I were stupid. When she snapped at me for signing a form "before she was done explaining it" I snapped right back at her and told her I was smart enough to figure it out on my own, thank you. My physician is an attending at UCLA and is cutting edge, therefore he asks for "out of the box" tests. The girl complained that my doctor didn't ask for things "in the boxes" and therefore she would have to type all the tests "individually." I didn't understand why she was telling me this. Finally figured out she was just COMPLAINING that it would require her extra work and gave me such a look of disdain I thought I would turn to stone. WHAT A LAZY SNOT !! Then she calls the other woman in the office over to ask a view questions about my tests and they start talking about them and laughing and shaking their heads and basically speculating that my tests are ridiculous. I felt embarrassed and I don't know why. I've been sick for 20 years and finally found a doctor who thinks outside of the box who is healing me and these bitches are laughing at it. Both of these bitches at Quest are mean and nasty, although the one girl is the worst. She also did my blood work and she caused me severe pain. Instead of making sure the rubber armband was tied around my arm in a smooth fashion, she twisted it up so it CUT into my arm. It hurt really bad and my entire arm turned red because there was zero blood supply. She barked out orders to "close your fist" and "hold this cotton" like she was a Nazi. By the time I left, I was really upset especially since I had fasted and I had no energy for my nerves to absorb the stress. In the future, I will look for another place to get my blood drawn and I will also call into Quest headquarters and complain about these incompetent, ill-mannered shrews. LET ME STRESS, THAT THIS IS MORE THAN JUST IMPOLITE BEHAVIOR, THIS IS OFFENSIVE and while I was there I witnessed more of the same with other patients. Getting blood drawn is upsetting enough, and for many it has to do with illness. We don't need these nasty, idiotic people making what is already an uncomfortable situation even worse. JUST SAY NO TO QUEST DIAGNOSTICS IN GREENBRAE!!! UPDATE AFTER THE BLOOD TEST: I travel to Los Angeles to see my physician and when we were looking through my blood work this morning, he was chagrined to find that one of the tests he ordered was NOT DONE. This was a really important blood marker because it is one of the things I am extremely deficient in. Very upsetting. read more
