I have come here twice and each time the ladies in the front have been kind, considerate, patient, and caring. You really see why they chose to work in the health care industry, as they do a good job in doing the best at taking care of you even when you see they are busy as hell. This busy location opens at 7:30 and there was only one phlebotomist and one front office person working. Also, the front office person discussed private testing (stool sample) with a patient in front of a lobby full of patients. Not good! I was here before 7am and was the second person in line. The office opens at 7:30 but because appointments start coming in at 7:45 I kept getting pushed further back. I have no issue with the patients that have appointments but this labs location needs to plan better. One, non appointment, individual complained and was taken back. I went to the front desk and asked where I was in the line and the front desk told me I had 4 more ahead of me. This was because now 8am appointmens started to come in. I was there before 7am and didn't leave until 8:20am. I've tried to make appointments at this location in the past but the wait list is usually a month out or more. I just checked for an appointment time before 8am and it's was mid November until I could find an open slot. It is obvious that 7:30am is going to be busy so why not have more staff start at 7:30am vs 8am?? I have no issue with the hard working staff, with the exception of the one individual discussing lab tests with a patient in front of other patients. But, I do take issue with the supervisor who manages the scheduling of staff for this location. read more

My daughter needed labs done after leaving her doctor. This was the closest, most convenient lab. Quite honestly, I was having second thoughts while sitting and reading the reviews in the waiting room! We were taken back with 20 minutes ( no appt). I've been to this location multiple times because it's the nearest to my home, but won't be back. I'm sure they're happy about that since I completely lost my temper the last time I was there. The first time I went as a walk in and waited over an hour and a half before I finally approached the desk and pressed to be seen. I waited two hours total. The second time was better as I had an appointment. You still wait as they work you in to the walk ins but the tech was good. The third time was the last straw. I had an appointment and not a lot of time to wait. The lady at the front desk was rough and disorganized as usual, and then the tech was rude and snippy which sent me over the edge. I made an appointment online. I got there about fifteen minutes before my appointment and I didn't have to wait very long. They honored my doctor's lab order even though it specified another lab. They drew my blood painlessly and gave me a cup for my urine specimen. I couldn't have spent more than half an hour there. They took a walk-in after me who didn't have to wait long, either. This took place a little after noon. Apparently they are busiest between nine and ten. I guess people want to get it over with so that they can break their fast. A few days later I got my lab results. Quest made everything quick and easy. I would definitely go back. read more

Never in my life have I had such a horrible experience at a clinic before. I was here for a walk-in and it took me over an hour and a half to get in for a blood test. I understand that people with appointments are first priority, but I am 100% sure that people with walk-ins that came in after me were seen first. When I was seated to draw my blood, I was on the fourth tube (out of five) when the lady that drew my blood said "oh shoot" and told me that the needle had come out. She also left a scratch mark from the needle next to my vein and told me she had to check on my other arm for veins. She poked me in my left arm and told me she didn't get the vein, and then she said she didn't want to ask for help, so she proceeded to poke me in the original arm she was drawing blood from, and STILL couldn't find my vein!! I've had my blood drawn PLENTY of times and they have never had issues finding veins to draw blood from before. NEVER. When I looked down at my arm after the third time she poked me with a needle, there was blood droplets and blood smudges on my forearm, are you serious? So someone else finally stepped in and drew my blood and yes it took four pokes to my veins to get it all done. Guess what? I just got a call back saying that my blood results were inconclusive and that they need me to come in again tomorrow morning to get MORE blood drawn because the blood from today didn't give a proper reading. If you ever need to go to a Quest location, do NOT come to this one. read more

They are always fast and professional here. The lady was a bit worked up when I walked in because they were short staffed. I realized later she had a bit of a handful to deal with in the lobby so I cut her some slack. The location is great for me, the place is kept very clean and they know how to take blood. HOT TIP ... Really not sure what the negative comments are all about. If you walk in and see 20 people waiting maybe you should go somewhere else? There's 5 of these places within a 5 mile radius, and if you don't want to wait over an hour, maybe make an appointment, or try a slower office but that's just my common sense I guess. I came in at 8am for a 3 hour glucose test and every seat is full. The staff and front desk Lien is not only courteous but was very nice. They are doing the best they can to get everyone in and out, even telling ppl to have a good day and thank you for waiting which I never see another quest office do. To say they don't even speak the language sounds racist, just because they have an accent doesn't mean they don't speak English. If you go to the south or west coast, regardless of race they might say you have an accent! Does that mean you can't speak English? The lab tech that also drew my blood is the best I ever had yet. Having your blood drawn 4 times in a day, she did with the most care and least pain. And most people can't even find my vein. Thank you to this location for your staff and professionalism. From the receptionist to the phlebotomist, our experience at Quest Costa Mesa was great. Everyone was courteous and professional, and we were helped promptly. Our phlebotomist's name was Talpa, she was really kind and reassuring to my daughter who was nervous about her blood draw. Talpa's technique was great, quick and no pain per my daughter. I'm not sure why this place only has two stars? Yes, it can be busy and there is somewhat of a wait. If you don't have an appointment that is. I anticipated some wait considering I didn't have an appointment. They open at 7:30? So you can just sit on the chairs in the lobby till one of the office staff opens the door...the day I went the door opened at 7:15. Once you sign in you just wait for them to call you up and get your insurance info then take a seat and wait till they call you back. The total time spent here was from 7-8:45 considering I probably got there a little too early? Either way the wait time is considerable especially if you don't have an appointment, totally manageable. I was seen by the phlebotomist Mark? (I would recommend) he was really nice and talked to me the whole time! I gave four stars only because the front office could've been a little more welcoming, but it's not a huge deal. I'm sure patients aren't too excited to be getting their blood drawn first thing in the morning either. I would say the worst part of this appointment was ripping off the medical tape! read more

The WORST Customer Service Line EVER. Wait times are exceedingly long. You will be placed in an automated loop that gets you nowhere. I finally selected a doctor line to get through and I STILL waited 10 minutes. The agents were polite enough when you get through, but honestly, if you didn't have high blood pressure before you called, trust me...you will. The office hours say they're open till 4:30 but I guess the staff decided to take off early even with appointments still on the books. This location is inside the Hoag Health Outpatient Center off of Baker and Fairview. The space is very nice, clean and new. I liked how easy it was to make an appointment online, but they are so busy that it is difficult to pick a date and time you really want. My appointment wasn't until noon, so I was fasting all morning! It didn't take very long for them to get my paperwork together and have my blood drawn, maybe 15 mins. But the waiting room was very crowded, so if you show up without an appointment, be prepared to wait. Also, if you want a copy of your results, the doctor must indicate it on the order. The customer service here was okay, they were nice but not friendly and didn't have that "going the extra mile" attitude. read more

I made an appointment for 8 and was helped within 20 minutes. My veins are very small so I usually get poked multiple times, but the nurse looked at both of my arms and got it on the first try. I have visited Quest Diagnostics twice for usual lab tests. First time around it has been about an hour of wait on walk-in basis, but today around 11 a.m. it took me literally 5 min from the moment I signed in to the moment I left the center. The employees were nice and welcoming. I was so lucky to meet Ms. Diana who performed lab test both times. She is extremely professional. She has gentle touch but at the same time she is quick and precise so you feel barely any discomfort during the visit. I must admit that for all these years of lab tests experiences , Ms Diana is the Best I came across so far. Overall, I would recommend to visit this service center for all your lab test needs. read more

Love this Quest Diagnostics. So much better than the shady one in Santa Ana. You'll definitely want to make an appointment and if online doesn't work, which it doesn't sometimes, just give the # a call and they can do it for you. I'm NOT a big fan of getting blood drawn whatsoever (I get queasy seeing my own blood) and there are ways to make the procedure more bearable if you just ASK. Here's what I do: when you sit down, ask the phlebotomist if you can sign your tube labels AHEAD of time. Why you ask? Because after they draw your blood, they will be sticking those labels on your very OWN TUBES OF BLOOD, then show them to you and have you sign those labels anyway to basically say, "Yes, this is my blood." Stupid when the labels are sitting RIGHT THERE anyway. Don't let them tell you you can't because I've done this several times and when I got someone new who told me I couldn't, I told him I've done it before and asked him to get his supervisor. The supervisor ended up telling him it was okay for me to do this. Damn Newbie... Here was our entertaining conversation: Me: "Hi, can I please sign my labels and/or paperwork before you draw my blood? I don't like seeing my own blood." Phlebotomist: *serious face* "No." Me: "You're kidding, right? I've done it before with her *points to another phlebotomist* Can you please go ask your supervisor? I know I'm allowed to do this... Unless you want me fainting and on the floor, I suggest you ask someone." Phlebotomist: *big SIGH and walks over to his supervisor, which is the same lady I pointed at originally" I hear mumbling... "...she doesn't like to see her own blood...we can't do this, right? I already told her noo..." "No, it's fine, just let her sign the labels. It's okay." Supervisor walks in, "Hello, yes you can sign the labels. Just sign here please. Thanks." Me to Phlebotomist: "Thank you for asking. It's not like the labels you had already printed would MAGICALLY change as you drew my blood right?" Phlebotomist: *Grumble grumble* MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Ask and you shall receive. And I get being slightly bitchy usually gets you what you want. ;) read more
