She asked for a mop to clean it up herself but they still wanted us to pay for it!?! We asked for it to be taken off the bill and they said bc she ate it all and they had to clean up the bathroom she had to pay for it!?!? Insanity. These people don't understand customer service at all. They took forever to give us the bill that should have been comped. We were waiting there forever while she was feeling awful. Absolute BS. If you want to pay $50 dollars for food poisoning this is your place!!!! Never ever coming here again. Absolutely worse first time experience!!! If I could give no stars I would. My wife and I originally placed a Uber Eats order and when I got my order, I only had one of the burritos so my wife had to drive up there. When my wife back up there, they remade it just for it to be wrong again now my wife is driving back there for the second time to try to get them to correct this. It was ordered hours ago and we still haven't eaten or gotten anything for them continuously messing our order up I would not recommend this place to anyone hungry because they've shown the only thing they know how to give out is disappointment so thanks for nothing. And now my wife called to let them know the messed up again and they asked her if we were sure if they messed up and then asked if we were trying to get free food even after we brought all the food the messed up back. Quesadillas never lets us down. The food is really good and reasonably priced. They give wonderful portion sizes which give you that bang for the buck, so you'll never be leaving hungry. What I like about this place is the location - right in the heart of Amherst, you're in a prime location with a wonderful patio setting. The only thing I do not like about this place is that the service is subpar. It can take a while for drinks to come and be filled. All in all, it's a good place if you're ever in town! read more

If you want real Mexican food this is the place. Excellent food great drinks and good people working there. They have a nice patio when the weather is permitting. Located right across from the Amherst theater its a little known local treasure that's been there for years. If you like really hot food try the chili Colorado / chili rojo extra hot and some of their hot salsa. read more

We usually visit Don Tequilas in Amherst but the wait was too long, decided to give this place a chance and we are so glad we did. The food was very good and the margaritas were even better. Usually the pitcher is all ice but not here. The atmosphere was fun and the server was friendly. This will be our first choice for margarita night from now on. I was expecting a wide variety of quesadillas and I got a plain all American Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa were great. The quesadilla was very disappointing there were minimum amount of meAt. Their flavorless rice has square carrot pieces and peas in it. Just weird because it was not good at all. The salad was plain iceberg with a dollop of sour cream, I did not get the normal pick or guacamole you would expect. I was there at noon hour and just ordered without the menu, their quesadilla does not come in a lunch option. The price was 11.00 and some change. I'm disappointed by yelp reviews in thinking this was going to be a great gourmet spot that offered up exciting flavored quesadilla's. Ordered: Burrito California Price: $7.44 w/o tax Ambiance: Exactly what I expect from a Mexican restaurant, a place that tantalizes the senses. Bright walls of yellow and magenta that grab your attention, South American decorations to keep you curious and bouncy ranchero music filled with brass :) the service was very friendly and the wait for food very short. Food: You start with a complimentary basket of warm chips served with a fresh mild salsa. Some places stumble here with salsas that taste like jar sauce or Italian tomato sauce but not these guys, it's legit salsa. I got the Burrito California which is essentially a steak burrito with rice and beans covered with a ladle of queso sauce and served with sides of lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. This is one of the places that marinates their steak well, it was nice and tender and only slightly mealy. The rice and beans were texturally perfect and flavorful although I like my burritos without them. The guac was a little weak, being filled with excessive amounts of onion/cilantro that drew attention away from the creamy savoriness of avocado. Overall this place is very good, especially when you put it in the context of the Midwest. The food is prepared very well and the service excellent. I'm not sure how authentic it is to serve burritos with queso sauce but I won't argue with the results. I won't get in to how California burritos have French fries in them in California. The main downside here is that the prices were a little exorbitant for the portions but were reasonable once you factor in the cost of the 'complimentary' chips & salsa. Bottom line though, I'd come back here again for my Mexican fix. read more

I went in there and paid with a debit card and over the course of the next three days I had 4 different charges from them for the same amount and they took $60 out of my account when my meal was only $15. When I called them to have this issue taken care of I explained everything to them and they said to come in with a receipt and they'll refund me and when I went in with my receipt they said sorry we can't do anything about it. Also the day when I went in to dine they never gave my friend her change back or her receipt when she was owed $6 and when we asked about it they said they had already given it to her and they didn't know what we were talking about. This place was great. We are AZ transplants and were hoping to get some decent Mexican food. The salsa is SPICY!!! The refried beans have some spice, too, which I like, but the 8 year old didn't like (which is the only thing she ordered). When we asked for a quesadilla instead (we didn't tell them she didn't like her beans, but it was obvious), they comped us the quesadilla, which I thought was pretty awesome. Spouse had Chile Relleno, which he said was exceptional. "Best relleno ever", and he's had a LOT of rellenos. I asked if the meat in the taco was ground beef, and our server said yes, so when I did a little sad face, he said he could change it to shredded! And he did! And that taco was AWESOME! The other things on the plate (enchilada, burrito) had ground beef (oops, forget to specify to make those shredded beef, so that's my fault), and while I don't like ground beef in my Mexican food, the flavor was good. The Chile poblano was awesome. The frozen margaritas were delicious. THE SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE. I am just completely impressed we got REALLY SPICY SALSA at a Mexican restaurant in the midwest. We never did find spicy anything in 3 years in Michigan, so this was a happy surprise. read more

Where to start. First they brought me the wrong food. Not a big deal. Just told them to put my correct order in a to go container. My fajitas were very dry. But here is the HUGE problem I have. When I checked my bank statement they doubled my bill and tip. So instead of me being charged $58 I was charged $116. I went down three times that day waiting on the owner. He took all my info then said he would get in touch with me. He called me one time two days later. Not a word since then. So I will NEVER be back to this establishment. This place is just hands down yummy goodness!!! There isn't a bad thing on the menu and service is always spot on! When you come in sometimes the servers are singing along with the music over head...must say they sing well also :-). If you go in and are a regular they know you by name and treat you even more as family than what they already do if its just your first time. Tamales smelled like they were stored in very old plastic and the burrito had very little steak in it and the veggies inside were canned peas and carrots? Wow. Never have I had such a terrible experience at a Mexican restaurant. It started out as a very nice evening with my family that turned into being yelled at obnoxiously by over-served patrons. Our food took forever to arrive and our drinks were not refilled, nor were our chips and salsa, even after we asked. The food was not fresh and my mom's margarita was full of salt. Then, I asked the table next to us politely to please be quieter and in return was screamed at and called a "whore b*tch" with the staff listening. If a restaurant cannot control obscene language screamed by patrons, I will definitely not return. The staff did not apologize- I told a waitress that word-of-mouth was very powerful, especially in a small town and her reply was "This is my family's restaurant and I really don't care who you tell". My family and I have eaten here a lot over the years and have tried a bit of everything on the menu I think! We always have a wonderful time and have never been disappointed with the food! My 10 year old picks this as his birthday dinner spot every year! My favorite is the fajitas, husband usually goes for the platter of several different items and my kids love the quesadillas. Chips are always warm and fresh and the salsa is a perfect blend of mild with just a little kick. We went here for lunch when we were in Amherst and loved it! My boyfriend had the vegetarian fajitas and the variety of vegetables was way better than most Mexican places I've been. I had the potato enchiladas which were also very good, and the house made hot sauce was to die for. The service was friendly, attentive, and timely. First off I wanted to mention that in the both bathrooms the soap was watered down so that's unsanitary. We waited a long time with nobody around to get seated. There was only 2 groups there with us and it took us almost an hour to get our food. When we went to check out the manager asked me how it was I said it wasn't great and I told him I wasn't impressed with the wait for our food and he said kinda of condescending, "Oh you had to wait 20 min for your food?" and then to make it right he offered to knock off the price of our daughters meal when he sign at the door said, "Kids Eat Free" There is no way I could consider going back here. read more

Very nice Mexican restaurant with a family run vibe. They have some great vegetarian items. I've had the taquitos a couple of times. Not a lot of places offer those around here. This doesn't have the attitude or the high prices that a lot of the "contemporary " Mexican food placed have in the area and that is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
