Don Tequila in Elyria delivers an upbeat atmosphere, remarkably fast and friendly service, and one of the most inventive drink menus in the area. The cocktail program is easily the highlight here. Their Margarita Flight is a fun, photo-worthy experience (it actually arrives presented on a wooden plane!), and the Trio Margarita--layered with Blue Curaçao and raspberry--was rich, fruity, and well-mixed.  Food-wise, they start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. We kicked things off with the Birria Nachos, which came out in a huge portion piled high with savory, well-seasoned meat. For my main dish, I had the Ohio State Burrito. It was packed with flavor, thoroughly cooked, and topped with plenty of cheese sauce and toppings.  Everything came out quickly, and the service stayed consistent throughout our meal. While Mexican food isn't typically my top favorite cuisine, Don Tequila stands out for its high quality, creative bar offerings, and stellar hospitality. We'll certainly be returning for more drinks and to sample other items on their varied menu! read more

This place is ah mazing! The food is flavorful and filling. Service was great. Drinks are awesome. I can't say enough about this restaurant. The salsa was so flavorful, it has a great fresh cilantro taste that gives it enough spice and zing. The OH State burrito so yummy chorizo steak and chicken and BACON! Yum! I love the blue turquoise walls in the place. They add to to ambiance. Thanks for a wonderful meal and drink. I will be back to this establishment for sure! read more

Very mediocre and over seasoned food. Best thing was the chips and salsa. I'm from the west coast and use to great Mexican food.

Food is Always amazing! Drinks are on point, no waiting like the other place. The service here is outstanding. I love this place!. Met the owner, classy guy. This place is very comfortable. People are smiling, not uptight. You won't be sorry coming here! read more

This place used to be good, not only did the service suck but the dishes I got were all chipped and bogus. The food was mediocre for how expensive it was, probably to pay for the robot they have. I asked for water after my food came and i didn't get it until I got my check and was ready to leave. Will not be returning! read more

If I could leave a negative rating I would. Went to lunch with a classmate from LCCC and we were horrified when we saw an actual roach crawling across the wall of our booth. I have never been so disgusted in my life. We immediately got up and told the people near us what we saw and they left also. We told the server we would not be paying as we had just received our food and taken a bite. Absolutely disgusting. We didn't take any photos as we were literally running away. read more

This is a great Mexican food restaurant. I was bummed they did not have horchata on the menu. I did ask he went to check but said they were out so I'm hoping that means they do make it now and then. I ordered the chicken fajitas and was surprised the veggies included broccoli. Definitely not a bad thing at all just different than the normal fajitas I'm used to. My friend got the super nachos and she loved them. We also ordered quest to share and it was great! Perfect amount of creamy! read more

First, the good: friendly staff, lively atmosphere, solid drink menu, and large servings The bad: real Mexican food should have some heat. The salsa tasted like puréed tomatoes. The ugly: food was bland and heavily sauced. Everything tasted like a Taco Bell version of the real thing from the tamales, hard tacos (no option for soft), burritos, and enchiladas. Goya sells better rice & beans! Verdict: a puddle of water in a culinary desert read more

In our second most recent visit I had one of the best burritos I have encountered. The Fajita Burrito contains all the makings of beef and chicken fajitas. Fresh peppers and onions, red sauce, cheese and sour cream along with some fresh pico! I called it a burrito the size of a football! We also had queso blanco and fresh chips. Table salsa was bland but we added some hot sauce. My wife had fresh guacamole last time and this time an aka carte chicken enchilada. Very good. Definitely recommend this location. read more

Wonderful service. They made us feel like we were part of the family. The food is always great here. We visit often. They have tried to make an outdoor seating area but it still needs a bit more done to make it feel welcoming. For now we continue to sit inside. That's where all the fun is anyways! read more

I loved Don Tequila and always went often. I loved the Mexican food and the Ambience of the restaurant, Then they took out the beautiful Booths with the beautiful colors that just gave the restaurant a great atmosphere . Ok so I learned to live with that didn't like it but still went because I loved there food and the people that work there are amazing people. So had been sick and hadn't been there in a while and we went yesterday for dinner and I really got a shock. They have Robots as waiters it is so awkward and it made me feel so uncomfortable I don't think I will ever go back again.. Now Robots are going to start taking people's jobs. If that happens what is going to happen to the people?? No business will need people to work anymore. I don't even know what to say ,, It's just Crazy !! read more

Holy margarita!! This place is right by my house so we walked here because we needed a "girls" night and wanted margaritas! Well. We only needed ONE! We asked for a margarita and our server asked "large?" And us not knowing said, "absolutely!!" Oh boy. When he walked out with these things we thought he was joking!! Surely this wasn't a legit glass and was just a decor glass! Nope! These babies are the large margaritas!! Pretty much the equivalent of sticking your straw into a pitcher of margarita. And oh my are they STRONG. Needless to say we were feeling a little good while drinking these. Food was amazing too. I ordered the steak fajitas and the one person serving is basically a two person service there was SO MUCH food. The steak had a little kick to it which I enjoyed. We will definitely be back! Probably won't order the "large" margarita but will definitely be getting some again. read more

Food is great however, the prices have increased drastically and now they have a 3% charge for using your debit or credit card.

So we sat at our table for about 15-20 minutes with no service, we had to flag down the bus boy to get a server. Served then brought the wrong drinks after they finally took our order. When the food came half the order was good, the fajitas! My gf food made her sick, they put a tomalley in enchilada sauce and her chicken was dry and tasted old. They also gave her a beef tostada when she ordered a chicken tostada . This used to be our favorite date place but I'm not sure if we will be back. read more

OMG! From out of town for the weekend and we love Mexican food. Took a chance and this place is great! Food super hot and great taste! Even being from Michigan, the Ohio Burrito is outstanding! The pictures of the guacamole is what they brought to our table. We did NOT order this, so the server brought the correct item. We were charged for this and the correct item. They refused to take it off the bill and then informed us we could not take pictures of the food. This place is a joke and at least 3 of us will never be back! They did not clear our table of the plates, our waters were never refilled, we were not checked on and the hostess had a serious, major attitude. read more

First time here we were sat right away nice place good service food was good the dessert flan had no taste might return to try again

Me and My Wife have been eating here for years and it is our favorite Mexican restaurant. Until today. We took our Mother-in-Law and three children to eat dinner and they charged Me an 18% up charge for having more than five people.( Which was over $13 on top of our meal) I was unaware of the charge until I received the bill. When questioned about it the waitress said that it's on the menu.(I did not confirm that is was but I'm sure it's probably in there) So I spoke to the owner reminding him that we were a party of three adults and three children and he proceeded to say that it was a justified charge and that it is posted in the menu. I'm still unsure of what the "up charge" is for but I did get charged. I told the owner that Me and my family would not be dining at his restaurant anymore and his response was, " Ok." I guess we will have to find a new place to eat after all these years. I will make sure they are more appreciative of their customers and do not have any unjustified charges such as the 18% I was charged at Don Tequilas in Elyria Ohio. read more

This was the first time we've ordered from Don Tequila.(Door Dash) We will not be coming back. I ordered 2 Fried Lobster Chimichangas ($1 extra for each one). We got 2 soft Lobster enchiladas and they were horrible. No flavor at all. Asked for extra sauce, received none. Paid $4 extra for a tiny styrofoam thing of rice-complete rip off. Ordered Quesadillas and no sauce of any kind...not even some sour cream. I guess no one can compete with Fiesta Jalepenos. read more

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in the Elyria area, this is your place! They have quite a selection to choose from and there is a several combinations in the back of the menu which gives you a generous portion of food. They also have 1.99 Margaritas on Monday and boy they are not shy with the tequila! If you make a change on your order there are no substituting and you will get charged extra. Their chips and salsa is very plain Jane too like any other Mexican restaurant you go to. I've noticed that they have some new servers now and my rating is due to the overall service and food. The service was terrible. This guy never even introduced me his name nor anyone in my group so there was no greeting it was just straight to what do you want to drink? And have you decided on what you wanted to eat? I was asking him a question about the chicken and cheese quesadilla and how big is it? And he responded that's it's just chicken and cheese and it was one size. I got confused and asked him what's the difference with the app portion and the dinner portion and he didn't know nor did he care to provide me with an answer. Basically I would only recommend people to come here to drink and not ask questions. That is all. read more

I have traveled the Mexican border quite a bit and had a Grandma who was head of food service for one of the largest hospitals in El Paso. This food, while it has components associated with Mexican food, is not authentic. The enchiladas had great cheese and corn tortillas but really bland sauce and they put tomato slices and green peppers on it! The flavors were so bland and subdued it made me sad. The two stars are for the huge margarita and decent salsa. read more

Our last visit to Don Tequilas was adequate. It's a typical Mexican restaurant that serves creamy pinto beans that look like chocolate pudding.... there ARE a few Mexican restaurants that serve cooked beans where u can ACTUALLY see beans, it's called frijoles de olla (seasoned boiled beans) deliciosa!! Suddenly there are no female waitresses.... last 2 times we were there for lunch, only guys working, hmmm Anyway, Don Tequilas is suitable & cost friendly. #SatsfiedCustomer read more

Good Mexican food. However it is a lot like all the other Mexican places. We love the patio and margaritas! Good food for a fair price!

We went for the first time last night. They were quit busy so we're thought we found a good place. There were plenty of servers and we got very good service. I ordered steak and chicken fajitas and my girlfriend ordered nachos supreme. There was VERY little steak with my dish. The meat was very small pieces like they dumped it out of a bag. Not cut up at all. There was very little flavor to it at all. I had a house margarita which tasted like 7-up. For the nachos supreme, no cheese on it at all and no jalapeños at all. We won't be back. read more

The food was absolutely wonderful BUT the service was! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! It's very sad that one hostess has to ruin a dining experience for everyone! Absolutely ridiculous! We were even told we could not take a picture of our food by this ridiculous hostess/cashier!?!! Will not be back to dine in because of this person!!!! Sad, so sad!!! read more

Absolutely horrible service, slow to recognize the customer, slow to ask for a drink and slow to take your order all the while as you watch employees stand around and joke. Also, they've gotten cheap, instead on refried beans and rice, you'll get french fries. read more

Kind of disappointing. The queso did not have a lot of flavor and the chicken fajitas were just okay.

Food was great! I got the Chile Verde with chicken . I ate it all! The guacamole was great too just a little spicy. DoorDash came within an hour. Worth it! Thank you!! Authentic salsa verde too read more

Before I go into this, I'm an Angeleno and work in the restaurant industry. What I'm trying to say is, I know Mexican food and I know customer service. The food is amazing and the menu is experimental. Definitely one of the best places to go for Mexican food since I landed in Cleveland. Do yourself a favor and try the homemade Jalapeño hot sauce! The shrimp tacos, carnitas, carne asada, enchiladas, literally everything will fulfill your appetite. But can't end this review without mentioning our server, FREDDIE!!! This guys customer service is incredible. Request this guy. He knows the menu like he made it. He will get you what you need and make you laugh at the same time. Love this restaurant! read more

I'm here visiting and we walked in and was seated immediately at a booth. The decor seems fine and place looked clean. Our main issue was our waiter. He seemed as if he was either new or was having a negative day. He came off short and a little pushy. He didn't introduce himself to us and had this attitude about him. The food was above average. I ordered the fish tacos and a margarita on the rocks with sugar. The large was $12.00 I believe which is a bit high in my opinion. I can get a margarita a little smaller in Philadelphia for half the price and it tastes the same. The three fish tacos were $9.99. Our bill was about $84.00. We only left a $5.00 tip because he was a very bad waiter and we had to ask another waiter for our check. He was busy playing around at the bar with other employees. I'm usually always a great tipper but I can't tip good if the service wasn't good. It would be doing him a disservice. My friends food was good as that's what they said. I won't be returning. read more

They are doing their best here. A pleasure to stop and have a meal at the bar. A waitress got a bit snappy about the order but sometimes there are barriers with two languages to clarify. Otherwise, food good, grateful they are open. Met some nice people except for the woman with the nonstop mouth trying to interrupt our conversation with people to the left of us, but I am so good at ignoring it did not work! read more

We love this place, it's close, it's quick and consistently good food. We get carry out a couple of times a month and always quick and well packed. The food was good. Atmosphere was good as well. Only bad part was that their salsa was horrible... just tomato paste.
