I was informed the tourney would likely go until 9pm. They host both the card game and the switch/video game challenges. I did have a card to trade and the breakdown of the process was the most thorough I've seen yet and I wanted store credit as you get 80% vs 70% if you got cash only. Anywho, the wait to be called did take longer than I'd like but given it was busy and my decision on what to use for store credit took awhile, I wouldn't deduct anything. Avery (sp?) was the main person who helped me and she was very patient. I also bought some playable cards (they have a stash of organized cards in bins near their staff-only area which other employees helped me out with. All-in-all, very spacious and well organized! They have one exclusively for double rares/ex cards, ultra rares/full arts, ace specs, etc. They even have a box for people to drop off ETB boxes in for people to claim for free if they want to take home. I also noticed some instant ramen station which they utilized for food in the store. They have some nice wall art too that was handprints as well. Would revisit if I'm ever back in Seattle, WA!

The staff was also friendlier and helpful. If you're looking for Pokémon cards, this is definitely not the best place to look for them. They had a bunch of single cards displayed and it looks pretty randomized. Not a good variety and honestly looks disorganized. They at least have a decent amount of sealed products, but everything was above market price. The staff wasn't friendly, nor were they interactive. The place wasn't that organized. There's a decent amount of table with you want to play card games with your friends.

They have so much more than just comic books. They have lots of board games. There's a huge collection of posters and figurines. The comic books are separated in sections by genre. There are also many types of playing cards, pins and collectibles as well. One of the unique items at this store was they had the scripts of many popular movies and TV shoes. I saw the script of pilot episode of GOT, TBBT, Friends and among movies there was Batman, Harry Porter, LOTR, Hunger Games, Twin Peaks and hundreds of more of them. I found a Marvel poster that I liked a lot. It was reasonably priced for $15. Checkout process was quick with assistance from very friendly staff. If you are comic fan, this is an absolutely must visit place for anyone visiting the Pike Place market.

They have all sorts of collectibles, you name it, and if it's popular, it's probably here. Comics/manga, collectable buttons, stickers, magnets, Figures, Funko's, mugs, posters of movies, posters of anime, wall scrolls and tons more crammed into this little shop. What I thought was cool was the Cardboard stand ups of Star Wars characters just outside the shop. That is something I don't see often and was kind hoping someone would buy one so that I can ask them how they planned to carry it out without it being damaged. That all said there are snags about Golden Age Collectables. A collectable shop to me is usually in sort of a lower traffic area, or a mall at most. Golden Age here is in a very high traffic area, It's Pike Place after all - a tourist destination, and the store is not particularly big, neither are the aisles. It was hard to stop and look at look at anything without being in someone's way. So, the browsing experience was not great here. My friend got major icks when someone was trying to pass her in a crowded aisle... and was let's just say was a bit inappropriate about it. As a result, she wanted to wait outside for the remainder of the visit. I was not far behind due to how cramped it is. I'd say if you have in mind something you want here, check it out, but if you don't do well in tight spaces and lots of people, exercise discretion.

This time my 3 kids all bought trick knives, the ones where the plastic blade goes inwards so that it really looks like you're stabbing each other. I'll never forget the image of my three kids running circles around each other "stabbing" each other in the parking lot like some dance number from West Side Story XD. This place always adds something to our visits to the market. The shop workers are funny and sometimes do magic tricks. The items aren't as cheap as online but well worth the convenience and experience of the shop, so excellent value. There's plenty of reasonably priced stuff cheap enough for a kids allowance.

Personally I came to purchase flash paper & liquid finger smoke when I was a brat teenager. Come on as an adolescent this stuff was essential for having fun. Now as an adult I still enjoy all the trinkets you can purchase. Keep a lookout for Franks favorite and that's the Fortune Teller Machine out front, I feel it gives the business a certain authenticity of a past long forgotten. For some change you can buy a fortune and sometimes it comes true but it's such a tradition I always buy one. Anyways check it out it's a smashing good time...

I'm definitely more of a sports cards guy so seeing the variety of cards most of em rookies was nice especially the jerseys. Owner was nice and super helpful wasn't at all snooty like another recent review mentioned. I'd say the only things qualm wise I got is using cash only and the pricing on some cards. Obviously I know businesses gotta make a living but when eBay is (for some I saw on my wishlist) 10-15x cheaper I'd just say go there. Also while credit/debit card fees to businesses can be high I do wish they at least had a debit card option or supported a low cost brand. A lot of people don't carry cash anymore especially on trips so just something to prep for. Definitely would come back regardless.

Don't be fooled by the name, Market Coins offers so much more than collectible coins. Tucked away in the labyrinth of Pike Place Market, this quirky, cramped little collectibles shop makes you long to camp out and browse vintage magazines, losing yourself in a slice of life back in the day... or more accurately, a slice of life back in the year. The store is a treasure trove of unusual finds. There are ironic vintage political statement posters (check out the photos and you'll see what mean), stacks of sports cards, and an interesting mix of magazines. In particular, the vintage issues of Ring Magazine caught my eye. I have a couple of retired pro-boxer friends and decided to surprise them with retro issues of this classic boxing pub. The owner was friendly and helped me sift through the overwhelming number of options to find the perfect issues. He steered me towards the editions that were perfect for my nostalgic boxers and didn't break the bank since they aren't collectors either. Even if you aren't an avid memorabilia collector, this place is worth a browse.

Laugh if you will, but it's true and I don't give a shit how dorky it is. I even have the obligatory tattoo to pay homage to my rock gods of choice. I signed up for their fan club (which has gone by a few names, but the tried and true is Ten Club) in 1996... this is after begging my mother to let me sign up for 4 years prior. 1996 is the year I opened my own checking account and no longer had to ask her permission for such things. Anyhow, the good folks who run it have been pretty good to me and my kin over the years. They have gotten me good seats to shows. They have sent me cherished Christmas singles, newsletters and given access to nerdy memorabilia I would have otherwise not had access to. I have counted on this club every tour and with their extreme kindness and usually awesome service, avoided Ticketmonster more often than not and seen 40+ shows, made more friends than I can count, had great adventures and spent more money than I care to admit in the process. We all count on them to maintain this high level of service and understanding of our addiction. They are prided for showing lots of respect for the fans and going above and beyond to nurse our PJ habits. Up until about a month ago, I wouldn't have said a single bad word about the club - they would have gotten a shining 5 stars and then some.... but then came Ed's April Fool's Tour, which was announced (and seemingly thrown together) in a last-minute sort of fashion. I won't get too negative here, because at the end of the day I still appreciate and love the club -- but I will give a quick overview of the disappointment that went down: the tour was announced, tickets went on sale days later (all at the same time and only online), servers could not handle traffic, fuckups ensued -- cards charged for tix that didn't exist, people locked out, emails ignored, mass hysteria, no statement from club -- sadness. The first tour in the 13 years I've been seeing their shows (and solo/side shows) where I had no access to tickets without going through scalpers. Total and complete disappointment. So for the poor planning and aftermath of that bit of lameness, I have to knock off a star. Maybe we're just spoiled, but nevertheless it bummed tons of faithful fans out. It's a snafu that can't be ignored. So four stars it is. All that aside, any self-respecting PJ nerd knows membership is mandatory... so get on it, if you haven't.
