Thankfully my mom's dentist told her about them so I immediately made an appointment. It was super easy to get an appointment. I requested for Dr. Chau just because she's a female and thought maybe my daughter would be more comfortable with a female dentist (also she has the same last name as me haha). The dental office is located in the building that has the Easy Music Center. It's free validated parking. The office itself is nice, clean and has a little play area with toys and books which my daughter loves. I had no idea what to expect as my daughter is only 1 and didn't know what they were going to do but Dr. Chau made us feel very comfortable! She let my daughter sit on my lap while she brushed her teeth. Of course there was some crying but my daughter did great and was totally fine after she was done. Dr. Chau addressed a concern I had about my daughter's front tooth and made me feel at ease as I was a little stressed about it. She is very thorough in explaining everything which I like as a first time mom. We've had to come a couple more times due to my daughter's front tooth and yes there's always a bit of crying, but she is totally fine once it's over lol. And she gets to pick a sticker and a toy in the little machine. love that Dr. Chau and the staff are so welcoming and nice. They definitely are good with children and have so much patience! I'm sure they hear crying all the time lol. I am so glad I found a good dentist and that my daughter's first experience wasn't a bad one. Highly recommend them!

My three children all look forward to their visits (I've never been able to say that before). The experience is so different from any other office we've visited; every visit is peaceful and the rapport Dr. Uchida establishes with all his little patients is a delight to watch. One of my sons is autistic and has always dreaded going to the dentist before but he doesn't mind his visits here in the least because Dr. Uchida is so gentle and it's much easier for my son to relax when he can't hear other children fussing or tools making loud noises in other rooms. I found out about them having a the worst experience with the pediatric dentist that was with the Aiea Family Dental care. They only had one pediatric dentist at the time which made it difficult to get an appointment even when I informed them that my child was in so much pain. When I first found out about Dr. Hirai, my insurance wouldn't allow me to seek outside care since he wasn't part of the Aiea Family Dental. Mrs. Hirai helped us by not only accepting us as new clients but also gave us discount since I was willing to pay out of pocket to treat my child. Today, we loved hearing that we can stay with Dr. Hirai while my child is a student :) Dr. Allen Hirai has the experience, knowledge and a friendly personality that makes my child happy. That's what matters to me! He knows how to make my child happy, calm and learn about healthy habits. The staffs ate all super nice and friendly too! Let me start by saying, I am so happy we chose Dr. Juliana Hsu to perform our son's lip and tongue…read moretie procedure. We were referred to her by our lactation consultant, Mihoko Yacavone, who is also amazing. We had an excellent experience with Dr. Juliana Hsu. We first discovered his ties through meeting with our lactation consultant for difficulties with breast-feeding and poor weight gain. He had a weak latch and wasn't efficient in emptying my breastmilk. Once learning about his tongue and lip ties, I was also concerned about his mouth breathing and quality of sleep, proper palate formation, tongue posture, jaw alignment, future dental issues, speech issues, and difficulties with feeding. Before the consultation, Dr. Juliana Hsu spent time answering all my questions . At the consultation , Dr. Juliana Hsu, was very welcoming and professional. She was very thorough in evaluating our son, explaining what ties are, how they impact the quality of life, and what to expect with the procedure. She also explained the importance of postoperative stretches. She took her time to demonstrate the stretches as well as allowed me to practice. Which I found helpful! I was a bit nervous the day of the procedure and even second guessed our decision as we walked into her office. Of course we went through with the procedure and were super happy with the results. At the time our son was 8 weeks. To our amazement, the procedure was super quick. Everything went well and we were super pleased with the quality of care we received. Immediately after the procedure, our son was handed to me and I nursed him right there in the office. He was able to latch and I felt a noticeable difference which shocked me. I never knew how powerful a muscle the tongue really is! Dr. Juliana Hsu followed up that night and the next day. Her thoroughness, knowledge, expertise, and compassion really made for a smooth and successful experience. The post operative stretches were definitely tough in the beginning but it got easier. Dr. Juliana was easily accessible and could be reached by phone which I loved, and she was very quick in her responses providing lots of positive reassurance. With that, we were much more confident in our decision and ourselves as parents to do the stretching well. She always made us feel comfortable. Fast forward, our son is 5 months and thriving! He is doing so well. His tongue healed perfectly and we are so glad we followed through with our decision to have the procedure done. Breastfeeding is still going great and we're excited to soon start baby led weaning. We would definitely recommend Dr. Juliana Hsu over and over again.

I wanted to put this review to help parents make an informed decision. I took my 3 month old in…read morewith the recommendation of my lactation consultant as she was having bad reflux. Dr. Hsu made an appointment ahead of time for the frenectomy surgery without seeing her, which was strange to me. I think my daughter had a mild tie, but if I were to do it all over again I wouldn't get a frenectomy. After cutting dairy out we found out that my daughters reflux was due to that and not a tongue tie. We felt played as we soon found out our LC, Dr. Hsu and the chiropractor all refer each other and many other families were seeing the same 3 providers. fast forward 3 months and my daughter has struggled with breast feeding and bottle feeding and it's been a nightmare. shes been on a nursing strike for 2 months and has dropped percentiles. (I'm not saying the frenectomy caused it) but I felt like I was rushed into doing it when my daughter was nursing great to start. I wonder what her nursing journey would be like if we just waited. my daughter won't take the dairy free formulas, so I've been having to pump for every feed. she use to nurse great. the process is grueling, rubbing the wound every 4 hours for weeks. (having to wake her up to rub the wound) it's really sad. I totally understand why a frenectomy is important for severe tounge and lip tie, but It felt like there wasn't enough examination on if it was really necessary. I wish we never got it.
