I have been wanting to try Que Tortas for a while. I lived in Latin America for a portion of my life and am always searching for authentic food. I really was looking forward to eating here but was incredibly disappointed in their tortas. I ordered the Chorizo con Huevo Torta, which includes bean and avocado. Unfortunately, the telera bread was very mushy. It had more similarities to sliced bread and lacked the firmness of the bolillo, the trademark of the torta. I finally opted for just eating the egg with a fork and folding the bread around it. The other people with me ordered a milanesa and Cubana torta respectively and were equally dissatisfied. The milanesa meat was thin and overly chewy and the Cubana lacked the taste and authenticity of the original Cubana. That being said, I am not a fan of critiquing small businesses, especially in these trying post pandemic times. I did feel that the service was pretty good, and the food was served quickly. Their prices are not bad either, although we did end up paying $41 and change for three tortas with no sides and two sodas. I also did not sample any of their other fare, but as for the tortas, we definitely won't be back for those. read more

This is an Amazing Torta!!! Portion was so much that I could barely bite it!!! (But I did ). This place is a hidden Torta Treasure! Our waitress was Awesome! She started with the restaurants best sellers (which we got -Cubano & Norteno). She had our drinks chips and food to us pretty quick! Horrible service. I placed an order Togo be the girl gave me automatic attitude didn't let me ask questions about the menu & didn't let me talk. Every time I added something she would say ok that's it ? Came to pick up and got terrible attitude when I was paying. Asked what my total was which was a little higher than expected. But paid. And all she did was put my change on the counter and didn't say anything else didn't give me or say your to go order is on the table. Nothing. And when I asked all she said was obviously which is like how am I suppose to know that's mine. Fix your attitude, whatever you have going on leave it at home don't bring it to work. read more

We just had tortas and tacos from here for the first time tonight and we were sorely disappointed. We were about 15mins away, and hungry, so we decided to try out a new small business. Let me preface this by saying that I don't like talking trash about small businesses.. but I will definitely be honest. I kinda feel like the pictures speak for themselves.. super skimpy on the meat (didn't even cover the whole torta surface area).. the meat that was included tasted just OK.. and the star of the show was the bread.‍ We agreed that our tortas were more like lettuce sandwiches. My husband LOVES tortas.. so I felt worse for him. He never leaves food behind when eating tortas (that aren't horrible, of course), and as you can tell by the picture, he left behind a good amount of bread.. because there were no toppings other than lettuce left on the torta to eat! The tacos tasted like bland mashed potatoes in a tortilla.. but those were cheap (less than $2 each), so I didn't care. We all work hard for our money and these tortas were NOT worth $10+ each. Stopped with wife for a quick lunch. Place was empty as in no one else was seated. We chose a table. It was clean. Waitress brought over two menus, upon opening and quickly perusing the menu, I was somewhat shocked at how expensive it was. Oh well, went ahead and ordered . She ordered the street tacos (asada) which were priced at $11.00 for 5 . I ordered the Cubano torta that came with fries. Also, a pickled carrot and peppers in a bag was included, and mind you, from the menu at $12.99. Ordered drinks a Mexican coke and cup of ice and unsweet tea. Drinks came quickly. Coke was great, tea tasted old and not very enjoyable. Suppose I should have just asked for something else. Food was up next. Order was incorrect in that I didn't get my fries. It took me a minute to realize they weren't there, double checked the menu to be sure they were included and not an add on. Waitress was gone by this time to address the issue immediately. Everything seemed hot and fresh. Upon tasting it, my sandwich was good. Wife liked her tacos, but I had one and thought it lacked the flavor of a good street taco. Finally I went to pay the bill. I noticed the total seemed kind of high but payed it without giving it much further thought. She did give me the itemized receipt after asking if I wanted it, I said yes and reviewed it after leaving. I found the charge for the tacos was over $14, my sandwich was over $13 and an extra $1.58 for something else (fries maybe) again they were said to be included. Mexican coke was around $3.65, tea $2.07. Bill added up to $35 and change, tax brought it to $38 and change. I rounded it up $45 even. I will start taking pics of food and itemized bill. In essence I thought it was quite expensive, food was good, not great. Was not happy that I had to remind them of the fries that were not presented with my meal. Crazy thing is we had stopped at Taco Laredo a few minutes earlier, unfortunately they had limited options as almost all there food pans were empty. As this was around 11am. Likely could have grabbed a couple of tacos and two drinks for $15. If you're a restaurant owner, please pay attention to details. There is a lot of competition out there. read more

The waitress was super friendly from the moment we walked in. We sat where we liked and she took our drink order. We got the Cuban and milanesa torta. Our son got the quesadilla and French fries. My only complaint (why I gave 4 stars) would be his quesadilla. The cheese wasn't melted and he didn't even ant to eat it. He ate his French fries. Other than that it was very good and I recommend. My family and I decided to stop by here and my mother was raving about their taquitos al vapor. Which isn't found in San Antonio so naturally I got excited. The interior is nice and decorative and the servers are very friendly. My family and i were immediately seated and greeted and found ourselves being given some chips and salsa. The chips at this little spot were delicious. I don't know what they do differently than the chips found at your standard Mexican restaurants but it works. The salsa(s) though not unbearable like I like it, were tasty and able to put the little bit of zing on my tongue. I ordered the taquitos al vapor and decided to roll with the potato and de cebrada (shredded beef) tacos. I wasn't disappointed and I instantly felt as if I was back in little ole Mexico. I haven't had tacos like these in about ten years and being able to eat them again was nostalgic to say the least. I came here for a late lunch with my family on a Saturday. The place is okay but not fancy. It was clean. About like the typical Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. Which is perfectly fine. It was a little warm at first but then another employee came in and turned on the AC. The food was good. We liked the burritos, tortas and mini tacos. We had an order of fries with chili and bacon but had to ask for more cheese because there was barely any on them. They have a red and green salsa. Both were excellent. The sweat tea was okay. Obviously authentic since no one speaks English! Aside from that, you can tell from the food. A little nondescript place with an adorable logo. We ordered two different tortas, the Torta De Asada + the Torta Cubana, roast beef and pork leg/ham, respectively. We also had the Q'Papas, fries with bacon and cheese, as well as the Burrito Fogonero, seasoned pork with Chipotle. Speaking of Chipotle, all came with guacamole, cream, lettuce, tomato, no extra. That was in the Torta/tortilla. On the side came some carrots and a jalapeño. All the meats were cooked superbly. The Torta bread was amazing. The burrito was a little spicy, but not really by Mexican standards; I will say that it was soggy very quickly with the sauce and that the tortas are definitely the thing to order here. The burrito was good but nothing amazing. The fries were a great size for the price and actually unexpectedly good. Steak fries, crispy on the outside, not overcooked inside. The Torts Cubana is so good, I will make it a point to be back. I read a review saying it wasn't flavorful... Either that individual had a bad day or his taste buds are burnt off. The pork was so tender and juicy, the bread tasted fresh baked and buttered. The ingredients were just cherries on the cake. Coupled with the pickled jalapeño and salsa... Oh yeah I'll be back. The fries were very... Meh... Just throw some home fries in there or mash potatoes for a side as opposed to the sub par greasy/excuses for fries.
