The food was great, meat seasoned well and the beans were just as good. I recommend this place over any other. Staten Islanders, this is the hidden gem that you've been looking for. If you love Spanish style food and enjoy your rice and beans, you have to try this business. I would have taken pictures of my order but I ate it all before realizing that I didn't take any pictures. Sorry.

The music was on/off--they had some difficulties--which we didn't mind--we were there for the food lol. Seated right away--and our server was great. They brought out complimentary plantain soup--it was soo good. I'm not a soup person, but every drop was gone. We got the appetizer platter--so worth it. Everything on it was delicious. I ordered the Kan-Kan--wow! My whole group was so happy with their meals. They abs loved it. I believe the owner even stopped by to see if we were ok, she was so sweet. For a group of this size, along with our many alcoholic beverages the bill was not bad--which made everything much more worth it. I'll def be back. This place is great for groups or date night.

Truth is how can you trust a person with your food that carries an attitude from the minute you walk in till you walkout. Throughout the entire service time she's just un attentive and rude. God forbid you ask her a question.. don't believe me go and see for yourself! Not good for business at all. This was my fourth time here first two times was great. Third time was a let's try it one more time maybe it was a bad day for her. Today was my fourth and last! Mind you she sat us down we mentioned it was cold she looked at my daughter and practically grilled her. Smh. I don't understand why work here then find another job this is food you're serving! She must be the owners son for sure! We waited exactly 20 minutes on the table before we decided to get up and leave. We walked out and there she was on the phone in front of the restaurant. We were never even asked what we wanted to drink for starters. I noticed she walked back in once we walked out. Smh not worth it! I rather eat at a local restaurant that serves Spanish food as well and guaranteed a smile at least on the waitress face.

They had the Cubano, but they had so many other things, I decided to go for something different. It is a nice space, with Latin music playing loud and proud. They have parking behind the restaurant, but it is shared with the other businesses in the small shopping center that the restaurant is in. Parking may be tricky. The food is on a cafeteria line, you just tell them what you want. It was Sunday, so I wanted to try the goat. Unfortunately, they were sold out. Instead, I decided to go for the chicken stew. For my sides, I decided to go for the rice and pigeon, peas, and the yellow plantains. Dear lord, I couldn't believe the size of the plate that she handed me. The chicken was bone in, but it was so tender and juicy, it was literally falling right off the bone. It was seasoned well and had an amazing flavor. I loved the rice, and the pigeon peas kind of reminded me of Black Eyed Peas. I liked the nutty flavor. The plantains were done very well. I love plantains, they reminded me of a banana, only a little bit less sweet. I had enough food for two full meals, and each of them left me stuffed. For all of this amazing food, and a soda, it was only $16 and a few cents, plus tip. I want to come back and try more things. Thank you very much....

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

First time having Puerto Rican food. Would go again. Food was amazing. The mofongo con pernil was perfect. The service was great. The restaurant is small and well kept and it felt like I was at grandma's house eating something personally made by her. Go check it out.

It's a four. It's a solid four…read more I arrived a little after 4pm with the intent on getting a 1/2 rotisserie chicken. I'm guessing they sold a lot already that day as the chicken still had to cook for approximately 2 more hours at that point. With that, I opted for the pernil. It was flavorful but some pieces were slightly dry. I may have gotten the end of a batch, because the guy next to me also ordered pernil and all of the pieces looked juicy and were hot. The vibe inside is authentic Puerto Rican. They've got the checkered tablecloth along with the condiments on all tables. The place is small - wait to be seated if you're eating there or order at the counter if you placing an order to go. I also got arroz con gandules, black beans, tostones & a salad. Yes, I brought home leftovers. At the moment, they're selling bottles of coquito for the holidays. It's a little steep in my opinion, at $45 per bottle. Cash only. But, they will also accept Venmo & Zelle. I think there was a third option to electronically send money. A very affordable meal for sure. Without tip, my total came to just under $27. A neighborhood spot and a NYC institution... Casa Adela.
