The lake is fenced off preventing you from going to the edge to check out. They did have benches for you to sit down to relax and take in the view. After getting back to my hotel I looked up some info on this place. This was originally a marble quarry which dates back to 1877. In 2005, construction began on the surrounding area which was known as Quarry Lake at Greenspring, mixed residential development and commercial development that includes single family homes, condominiums, shops, restaurants, and office buildings. So in the middle of it all is this lake, which is 500 feet at it's deepest point. In closing, it's a nice lake in a nice location. I turned around and walked 6 miles back to Avalon. Then walked 3 miles to the landing road starting point. It was 97 degrees. Brought 7 liters of water and about 30% of it was electrolytes. brought some snacks. overall it was a good solid hike of 6 hours. I rested a bit at cascade falls (CF) CF parking lot, Avalon (in both directions) Total mileage was around 18 miles. I came to Patapsco after planning a hike here for my run/walk/hike club. We chose the Cascade Falls…read moreloop trail as it seemed easy for beginner hikers which were a lot of members of my group and like it would not require any extra supplies. We came on a Sunday morning, parking was $2 as our shuttle was an in state vehicle ($4 for out of state!) and when we arrived around 9:30, there was already a decent amount of people at the trailhead parking lot, but we were able to easily park. There is a bathroom located nearby that is clean and has running water. I do think it is relatively well maintained and looked after, though there was 1 stall missing toilet paper. The hike itself was lovely, with fall foliage still around in sight. We did not come across any big wildlife like deer but given the amount of people this made sense. We did use bug spray on our shoes and bottoms of our leggings / ankle area to prevent any ticks. The trail itself was beautiful, there are 2 water crossing areas where you could get by on rocks but I have waterproof hiking shoes and just walked straight through. I would recommend this trail to beginners!

I've been coming for years and they have still maintained this park from 2001 when my oldest was born until now in 2025. The grounds are always maintained, plenty of parking, and grills. The pavilions have outlets and plenty of space. I can appreciated this park being maintained throughout the years. The park rangers are knowledgeable , helpful and nice.

The Hammerman area has a small beach, with sand and grass options. The water was a great temperature both times we went, and the water is not at all gross like I was expecting. You can go in without any water shoes. There is a building with showers, changing rooms, bathroom, water fountains, vending machines. It is close enough to walk to from the picnic table area that has grills and a large pit for hot coals. One huge downside was that I did not notice any trash cans in the area nearby. I want to go back to try some of the trails nearby.

Beautiful place of peace…read more Well maintained trailhead with bike rental, tube rental, coffee, sports drink and Restrooms. Lots of parking here. Lot is small but Road is reasonably signed with where parking is allowed. Trail is packed dirt with an almost imperceivable grade. Great greenery with a few historic old brick formations. Great place to relax or wander with friends and family.

I often debate in my head whether I'm truly a fan of city living or whether I'd like to move far,…read morefar away from civilization and spend my days watching birds and baking bread in a tiny cottage. Alas, there's no tiny cottage in my close future (at least for now), so Wyman Park is the next best thing. Wyman Park is pretty huge considering it is smack dab in the middle of a college campus and a bustling city. There's a huge hiking trail called Stony Run that runs through it (you can easily find it on a map or on the All Trails app) which I've become quite familiar with thanks to the endless walks I went on throughout 2020 and 2021. The trail will take you through the park, under graffitied bridges, across streams, and up hills. It's a solid 5 miles if you do the whole thing from start to finish but there are several side trails that you can take to loop back around or simply explore a bit. Dogs are more than welcome here and the baseball field tucked in the back of Wyman Park has become an unofficial dog hangout. You can also find benches, a playground (with swings), and plenty of grassy space for picnics in the upper area of the park off Beech Ave. For anyone who needs a break from the city without actually leaving the city, Wyman Park should be your go-to.

Lake Montebello is a gem in Baltimore City, the lake is clean as is the track around the lake. It's very relaxing to walk/run around the lake and explore the beautiful city neighborhood, Mayfield, which is just east of the lake and one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. The trails of the park do have quite a bit of trash littered on them, which is unfortunate. Still, it's nice to be able to have a natural setting like the park in a city like Baltimore and, despite the trash, I still like to walk on the trails and admire the Herring Run. I haven't walked the full length of the trails yet but I plan on it when the weather warms up
