It is kind of a lemony and citrusy tasting (with a clean finish) beer which I really liked a lot! In addition to that I had their house made root beer which was excellent also! I decided then to get the Honey Cream Ale in a four pack can. This beer didn't taste great because it had an unfortunate metallic taste to it. But the idea is that there is honey and creamy characteristics to it. Too bad the taste of the can was a dominant flavor in this since I am sure it wasn't intentional. The taproom is nice, spacious and you can get a great view of the surrounding area. Definitely a place to get their drinks from the tap as they are certainly good but be aware of the cans and possibly metallic flavor.

The brewery is nestled in downtown and the set up is pretty cool. There is a nice, spacious area inside the brewery but on nice days they do have outdoor seating on a patio. It was nice and warm on the day I paid a visit here so I took advantage of the outdoor option. The beer choice in my mind I also desired to have that would go along with the warmer weather would be a lighter beer. What fit the bill just fine was getting the Cool Hand Rice Lager. This was a nice, crisp beer that was just what I was looking for. A little bit biscuity and some hoppy bitterness going on that reflected this type of lager nicely. It was very refreshing to sit down to as my journey to Butte and the main event in Bozeman would mean hotter weather as that part of the trip unfolded.

Lots of spaces to pick from including awesome outdoor spaces. The beer selection is great and they provided samples to help decide. The beer that Steve and I had was the Prickly Pear which is a fruited Pale Ale. In the flavor you will certainly pick up lots of hoppiness but there is a hint of pear with some sweetness. Somehow or another I missed it from doing this but caught it when doing a "sweep" to make sure I didn't miss any breweries. So here us a case where it was good to be thorough and proved not to be a waste of time in doing. The beer that I had with Steve was the Headwaters Hazy which was a New England IPA which was a good one! I haven't had one of these IPA's for a while and it was pleasant to have one again. Flavor features with this beer are hoppy with subtle hints of orange and berries. The beer definitely lives up to the "hazy" in it's name as it is most certainly that in appearance. An enjoyable first time beer experience with Sawdust And Steel Brewing!
