I already knew I was getting mini cream puffs and eclairs, cannolis (and they offer a choice of fillings), cupcakes and my beloved cappuccino perfectly made with a few chocolate sprinkles on it (just for me?). The same couple were behind the counter with their now very-grown-up son. A few older gentlemen solved the world's problems at a table in the corner while sipping their coffees. A mother and young son were sharing what must have been the last delicious vanilla glazed yeast doughnuts (yes, they were all gone... much to my disappointment...and along with the 'hand pies' as I call them). My family loved my purchases and I loved my coffee.

She was very friendly and I felt a women living her dream. Nestled in the heart of Germantown, my GPS took me right there! Once inside we were greeted by employees that let us know the items for sale were in the back of the store. I found that to be a bit different, that all the baking is done upfront, so you can see things being made from scratch. I wanted to try everything, but the waistline nor the pocketbook would allow that. Between me and my daughter, we decided on the Bread pudding (delicious), Peach cobbler (my favorite), taste like homemade! Turkey Bacon cupcake ,they candied the bacon on top. The cupcake was moist and delicious, but could of been a little bigger. I didn't taste the banana pudding, but my daughter said it was also delicious. They make cakes for special occasions, like wedding, baby showers etc. They also have a few special events there (check their website). Where has this place been since I have been living in Philadelphia? When you walk in, there's an older gentleman who has his wet and dry ingredients in bowls and ready to be mixed and concocted for whatever is on the menu that day. Now how often do you enter a bakery and see all of the ingredients on the table and made right in front of you? I went to the back where all of the precious desserts were being shelved and stored and my eyes grew large. I had asked the young lady if their chocolate cookies were soft and she told me they were pretty popular. Needless to say, I bought a dozen alongside the three cupcakes at the bottom. There was even a woman who entered and said she had just bought some of their oatmeal raisin cookies and had to come back and get more. Those cookies were hands down the best I've had and they trump 4th street cookies by a few miles. Soft, buttery, and full of fresh ingredients I couldn't help but to eat a few on the way home. I'm just a bit sad... how did I miss this place since I've been in Philly? Well, good thing I know now.

There were an assortment of delicacies on display but my eyes settled on the cranberry oatmeal cookies. I took a bite of the cookie and to my surprise it was incredibly moist without being undercooked which has NOT been my typical experience with oatmeal cookies. Far too many in my experience have been crisply overcooked resembling a perfect replacement for a coaster. This cookie was a delight! After leaving the store I found myself taking the tiniest of pieces from the cookies to prolong the disappointment of finishing it quickly. This without question should be a top-tier selection if you're in search of baked goods in the Roxborough area.

A wonderful cheese cake crust both on the bottom and some crumbled on top made for the best cheese cake I have had in a long time and I would recommend getting a slice to anyone I tell about this spot. Also the man and woman who served me and my family were just the most friendly people you could ever meet. She was so polite and explained each and every item that was available to order. I wish I could have ordered everything but we have to have self-control, sometimes. We ordered 2 banana pudding parfaits, a peach cobbler parfait, a yogurt and her momma's poundcake. We sat and ate both banana pudding parfaits (I had yogurt too) in the parking lot and my goodness they were so good. Went to another destination and at the peach cobbler parfait and it was just as good. That poundcake was on point. I ordered an at-home Wedding Cake tasting box directly from their website and scheduled it for pickup on February 14th at 12:30 PM. It was a pretty straightforward order and I paid using a credit card. Upon entering the shop, it smelled heavenly. The employees behind the counter were helping a customer that was ahead of me, and I was assisted shortly after. She asked for the name on the order and stated she was going to alert Sean to come explain how the tasting works. Sean came out and immediately left a lasting impression. He was very kind and answered my questions. He explained the process for the tasting and left me feeling confident about next steps. We tasted every cupcake and filling yesterday and they were all divine. I can't wait to visit again to try other baked goods from The Frosted Fox!

Ordered a White Cake with Honey Vanilla Buttercream Icing. This is the only kind of cake I've…read morepurchased from here. Upon picking it up I was told to let it sit out a while before cutting. I asked the guy that waited on me if it was frozen he said No just refrigerated. I brought it home an put it back in the refrigerator as I didn't need it until dinner. Prior to my dinner reservation that night I took it with me to center city and kept it with me until after dinner so it could reach room temperature. When she went to cut the cake I thought it was frozen she was having such a time getting a knife through it. Turns out it was not but very dense and heavy, not like it usually is light and fluffy. It was giving the texture of cornbread. The icing was good but cake not so much, $63 down the drain. I'm not sure if the recipe changed or what happened but something definitely was off. I usually enjoy these cakes but this one not so much!

It was excellent! The chocolate cake was moist and rich. The icing was light, fluffy, and had the perfect peanut butter flavor. The caramel/ peanut butter combination was out of this world! My second visit, my sister and I decided to order two and split them. We got the Jimmy Brookie and the James Brown. The Brookie was a cookie/brownie base with peanut butter icing. I felt like it was mainly brownie. The brownie was a little hard and tough. I would have liked it to be chewier. The peanut butter icing was the same great icing I have experienced the first time. The James Brown was a black Russian chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and a vodka/Kahlua glaze. The cake was moist and rich. The buttercream was sweet (a tad too sweet) and light. The glaze made the cake extremely sticky. I also didn't really taste the Kahlua promised. Overall, I felt like it was just a really sticky chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. These are good quality cupcakes, but some flavors don't pack the promised punch of flavor.

I got chocolate chip cookies with vanilla, and my friend got sugar cookies with strawberry. It was a delicious treat. My only critique is that the ice cream could be a little softer, but I guess that's just a personal preference. Unfortunately, it looks like the mostly hang out in the suburbs, but if you come across them, definitely worth a stop.

NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE!!! It doesn't matter what time you call. I then sent a very detailed email thru their website with my name, number, the custom design request and I referenced one of the cakes on their website. This was the response: Thank you for choosing Denise's Delicacies for your order! Before I can take your order, I have a couple of questions. When do you need this by? How many people are you trying to serve? Do you have a picture of the design you want us to go by? If so, please send a picture. Lastly, do you have a number I can call to place your order? Thank You, Denise's Delicacies In my message to them... I did tell them the due date, I did give the number of people to serve, I did reference a cake from their website and I did provide my phone number. I was absolutely frustrated and confused. After reaching out to a few other bakers and not finding what I needed, I gave up and decided to get up early one Thursday morning and go to Denise's in-person. I got there around 8:45am. It was not crowded. The young lady working behind the counter was kind and helpful. I mentioned about no one answering the phone, she said they were short-staffed. Then, the custom cake I was wanting, she said they did not do (just number cakes on top of a sheet cake.). However, since it was a week before Thanksgiving, they were not taking anymore custom orders at that time. So, I gave up and just got a 'numbers' cake. I placed my order, paid and left. I then returned the next day and requested to go up to the next cake size. When I went back, 2 weeks later to pick up the cake, BAAAAABY!!!, all I could do was laugh at how huge it was. We all got a chuckle, but it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! One of the men who worked there was kind of enough to carry to and place BOTH cake numbers in the back of my truck. Whowever the baker was that worked on my cake, did their THANG!!! I was absolutely pleased with how beautiful it looked. And all our guests raved about the cake. That being said, I would definitely order from them again. I just hope they elevate and work on perfecting their business. It's so sad to hear long time customers talk about how it was 'back in the day' when the actual Denise was there. They've been around too long to be lacking in that department.
