Quantum Wellness has many great services to offer and I enjoy many of them. If you've never done floatation therapy, I seriously recommend it! It's a highly relaxing and therapeutic experience; Quantum is one of the 2 best facilities in NJ, in my experience. Before my review I'm just going to answer a couple of quick questions that people have asked me several times about this place when I mentioned it: * The float tanks don't lock * I feel bad unless it is a particularly bad case it would not trigger one's claustrophobia you could almost stand up in the tank, then again it's completely dark so if the top was 100 feet high or one inch you wouldn't know the difference but there is definitely plenty of room Review: This place is phenomenal; it is scrupulously clean, modern and obviously very unique. I can't remember what the nomenclature is but I just call it a "sensory deprivation chamber" I believe they call it a "float tank" I'm really not sure but each one of them are in their own room with a shower kind of a suite. It's essentially a spa of sorts. With regards to the showers/cleanliness everyone is asked (required I believe) to shower before they get into the tank. This helps keep it cleaner even though the water absolutely is constantly circulated in the tank through a filter. Note: the pump for the filter is in a different room so you don't hear it. Again, there is complete and total silence. If you are in need of some alone time a sensory deprivation chamber is what you need. They don't use that term but that is what it is. When you are in complete 100% darkness with absolutely no sound whilst floating on body temperature water your senses are as deprived of stimulation as they could ever possibly be. The water is approximately 9 inches to a foot high, it is heavily salted with Epsom salts which makes your skin feel very nice but the real reason is so that it is impossible to sync and you don't have to pay any attention/effort to the act of floating. Being able to have your brain deprived of outside stimulation quite possibly for the first time ever in your life is an amazing thing. It puts you into a very deep state of relaxation, about 10 minutes after I got in I found myself in a deep state of relaxation. I have been dealing with depression on and off and I find that there is a weird phenomenon that you almost can't be depressed in there. I could be totally wrong about that but I sure hope I'm not. It kind of taught me some lessons about my brain/state of consciousness. I'm not sure what these lessons are exactly but I will be doing a lot more "floating" to find out. In summation, I feel this is a great reset to the circuit breakers of one's mind. Maybe this is what ones mother's womb was like, I personally don't recall. This state of relaxation/sensory deprivation triggers some deep relaxation and I definitely felt a surge of dopamine or something going on in my brain that felt really good. That happened after about a half hour to 40 minutes, I would say that I need a good two hours in there but see for yourself and then take it from there. Important: Now if you're not convinced to go I will hypnotize you. Don't worry because all hypnosis is self hypnosis so (right now) take a few deep breath's and in a relaxed slow cadence just read the passage below.. try not to blink your eyes...this will help you to you made up your mind to go and float. Float...there's no need to think about it it's just something you're going to do....just float....do yourself a favor and go right Now...shut your brain off and let it reset...Now go and do it and do it Now...don't you feel you deserve to feel good? of course you do...you will feel so calm, so very very calm and relaxed...you will relax deeper down, deeper deeper down you will go into such a relaxing state...float...you will feel 100 times more relaxed than when you entered...and when you finish you will feel so very calm...1000 times calmer than before...just float it's so very easy... when you finish your float you're not sure if you will forget to remember or remember to forget your problems...you will feel so very calm so very calm and relaxed. float. I have floated 4 times now and with each experience I enjoy it more. It is so relaxing and really allows me to clear my mind. I am a full time student who sits to study all day and experiences back pain. Floating alleviates that pain while I'm laying in the tank and allows me to stretch my body it ways you cannot do normally, it's great! If you are experiencing any stress or any type of muscle or tendon pains I would recommend giving floating a try. And if you are unsure of what floating is -- you lay in a huge tank with about 1 foot of water that is filled with thousands of pounds of epsom salt so you completely float, the water is 95 degrees (to match the outermost layer of skin) so you do not get too hot or cold. The tank is pitch black and a little light turns on to let you know your session is complete. What a great experience! read more

Ok I have been wanting to try a float for a few months and finally set up my first appointment at quantum floats. A little out of the way for me but they had good reviews so I went for it. My expectations were small. Maybe a little meditation in the tank or something like that. I'm not a meditator, in fact I have only tried it once. Ends up I didn't do any meditation in the tank. I just floated for an hour, showered off and left. (Shower before going in as well). Everything was very pleasant and professional. A few minutes after driving away it hit me. I was in a completely different state of mind. I can only describe it as similar to when my wife gets and incredible massage and for a few hours afterward she is in this blissful place of relaxation. I had to go immediately afterword to shop rite (I don't recommend doing this after a float and even that wasn't enough of a buzzkill to stop the euphoric feeling. Took at least 5 hours for me to come down from this incredible relaxed state. I have no idea how it works. I guess we are just so bombarded by stimuli our whole lives that when we turn it off for an hour our brains really appreciate it. Will be going back. read more

Can't express how much I enjoy floating and how happy I am to have a facility in my area now. My first experience at Quantum was fantastic. The Lobby and waiting area is a very quite and serene, they serve amazing tea that just gets you in a relaxed state of mind before even entering the tank. The tank rooms were very clean and the receptionist was overly thorough with explaining how everything will start/end and the best ways to really maximize my relaxation during my session. I struggle with my floating relationship because I don't have language or capacity to explain it adequately. It's such a surreal experience--like nothing before and almost indescribable. They put you in a room with a shower. After a quick shower to wash away your personal dirt/lotions/deodorant/etc.), you climb into what amounts to a sensory deprivation chamber. It's filled with salt water dense enough to support your body in total darkness and silence for the designated period (an hour or more). Type A people (me) are likely to scramble in the beginning, as the mind is quieting. The first time, I don't know where I went. I was somewhere between sleeping and wakefulness, and the hour flew by. The second time, I was convinced I had been in there too long and the "time's up" mechanism (the lights inside the chamber turn on a timer) was broken, and I was going to be startled by an employee coming in and opening the chamber door to gaze upon my glorious nakedness. That didn't happen. I don't think it would--there'd be lots of ways for them to let you know you were overstaying your welcome short of opening the chamber door--like rap, rap, rapping on it in Poe-ish fashion). But your mind has lots of room to wander when floating. And I was having a bad trip the second time. So what's good about it? Your skin feels amazing afterward, and all aches and pains disappeared for me--including some pregnancy related issues I've had lingering for 2 years. The downside is it's quite expensive. I get it--rents are high, and this is a moneyed neighborhood. I just can't afford to go often at $79 a pop. I was so bewildered after my first trip that I declined to purchase a first timers package so I could digest the experience a bit. But they let me buy the package on my second visit a few months later, so now I have a couple more opportunities to develop my floating expertise at a reduced rate (around $50 a session) and decide whether it's worth the significant investment. read more
