I got a very good cup of coffee here. They offer three types of roast for the drip coffee. I wanted a breakfast sandwich but that was not available. Instead you can pick up toasted bagels or desserts. A good place to warm up with coffee.

Great little spot lots of seating. Cool vibe. Friendly service. The coffee is amazing. We got a Raven Mocker which is chocolate and blackberry and a Butter bear. Which is Carmel butterscotch and condensed milk Both were amazing some of the best coffee we've had and we drink a LOT of coffee. Can't wait to come back thru Cherokee to visit this gem again

This business will survive purely because it's in a touristy area and one of the only options. The staff is unfriendly and the service is excruciatingly slow. I will wait for a good quality craft coffee, this was NOT it. The lattes are so sweet they're undrinkable. I had to add an americano to my latte just to be able to choke it down. Additionally, this was how empty my mother's coffee was when it was served...

First time here and I can say I will be a returning customer for sure. Friendly employees and such a cozy atmosphere right on a little river. Me and my fiancé coffees were absolutely delicious.

Was in town visiting and wanted to try local coffee places so we came to this place as they roast their own coffee beans. We walked in and were greeted with a warm welcome. It does seem to be the place where all the locals hang out and work or enjoy a game chess(there was a couple of gentlemen playing chess outback.) The menu board is up above the counter or they have menus by the register. They have some unique flavors and drink options as well as a few bakery type items some made locally. I opted for the turtle dove which is an iced drink. It has Carmel and white chocolate. It is a bit sweet but has a wonderful flavor. Would definitely order again Hubby opted maple spiced shaken espresso off the fall menu. It's iced with whole milk as well. It has a good coffee flavor it's better once you drink some down and can mix it up better. It was perfectly balanced with sweet and coffee. Pumpkin scone(locally made) could have used more of a pumpkin flavor but was crumbly and paired well with coffee. Overall would definitely recommend coming here and will come back. Also take a moment to go out back and take in the views it's so peaceful and relaxing

The best bang for your buck in Cherokee! This cafe offers a twist to a normal coffee shop. I've never seen some of the items that they offered on their menu. Additionally, it is SO reasonably priced. My family stopped by the cafe during a road trip and for 5 drinks, we only paid $28.00! The cafe was decorated for Halloween/fall and an employee was roasting coffee beans during our visit Pro tip: make sure you visit the back patio for some great view and also to snap a picture of your drink.

This is a great little coffee shop in Cherokee. I wanted to try something new while I was in the area and their flavors were fun and all the reviews were great so I stopped in after an early morning elk viewing and I was not disappointed. I got the black snake iced which is BlackBerry and vanilla and I have not stopped thinking about it since. I can't wait to be back in the area so I can get it again! The employees were great, it's a cozy atmosphere and I loved the outdoor seating overlooking the river. Don't miss this one!

Rating for a smoothie I bought today. It was not properly blended and had huge chunks of ice. There was so much ice that a straw was useless. With tip I paid $9 for this. Tips shouldn't be asked for until after service is provided. Flavor was bland with no fresh fruit.

What a wonderful find! Don't be turned off by the overly commercial strip, this place is charming and serves good coffee and tea. Very nice indoor space including a really cute outdoor area. The coffee was really good and reasonably priced. The staff was energetic and nice. Their was free wifi, lots of workspace with electric outlets, and several intimate areas to talk. My daughter and I stopped here during a spring break road trip, and both purchased hot espresso drinks; my daughter ordered a mocha latte and I got a (seasonal) "peeps latte." The employees were polite, the store was comfortable and cute, there is a gorgeous view out back and the drinks were delicious! I will definitely return next time I'm in the area. read more

Service was a touch slow albeit friendly enough. The atmosphere is clean and enjoyable. Relaxing environment nestled in a cute Indian resort town. The coffee was decent as well. Nothing to write home about but tantamount to Starbucks. When we visited the WiFi was non existent. There wasn't many people in the shop when we arrived either so it wasn't a bandwidth issue like the employees claimed. That said your there for the coffee not the free WiFi I suppose (although we needed to work). All in all a decent place but I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

Dropped in to have a remote meeting, had a great dirty chai. The space is nice, with an interesting flow and nice outdoor seating. The service was very good. I was able to find a nice seat for my meeting and saw many locals supporting the establishment as well. Didn't try any food, seemed like some limited options and nothing really struck my fancy. We were going to be in town for the day, and so we looked up native-owner restaurants. This was at the top of our list and we're so glad it was. The different flavored drinks were really inventive and tasted great, and the lemon lavender scone was also really good. The environment is wonderful too; we aren't locals but this felt like a great place to hang out. I only wish we had more time in town to decide on a favorite drink. We'll definitely be back when we're in town again. read more

I have a small coffee roastery myself, and I'm picky about coffee. When I travel I seek out coffee roastery coffee shops because the coffee is always best and freshest there. I was visiting NC from TX and stopped by this place. I found great coffee, great service, great people. They actually asked how many shots I wanted in my macchiato and asked if I wanted it traditional or caramel. Many shops would just serve it weak and sweet like Starbucks. The coffee was fresh and properly extracted. My kids loved the hot chocolate. We will definitely patronize this place again next time we're in town. read more

This place is great. I work at a coffee shop in my hometown so I'm a little picky, and every time I'm in the area visiting family, I'll drive from 25 minutes away to get my coffee here. The First Fire is such a delicious, perfectly spicy drink. The whole family is hooked. Plus this place is Native owned, so it's a great place to spend your money while you're in the area. read more

I visited this coffee shop in the remote past but always ordered what I always order everywhere else - a double espresso because I do not usually like sweetened coffee. We revisited the shop for its location and ambiance during a recent trip to the area. I was first impressed with the intelligent and personable barista (red hair, I forgot to ask her name). I decided to order a Black Snake Cold latte out of the blue... it was amazing! It was smooth, not too overly sweet, and had the lingering flavor of blackberry. No chemical flavoring taste. I'm definitely making a detour to this place any time I am in the area. Now I want to try everything! read more

"Qualla Java Café is a specialty craft coffee shop located in Cherokee, NC. At Qualla Java we roast, in house, the highest grade Free Trade Organic beans sourced from the Tolima region in west-central Colombia. A region fully inscribed by the Andean mountains and the Magdalena river basin. Qualla Java was founded by a pair of Haskell Indian Nations University alumni. We love coffee. Coffee has been a staple in our lives since our time at university in Lawrence, KS. Having the opportunity to roast our own blend of coffee is a cathartic practice and gives Qualla Java full control over our product. Every day Qualla Java works to support our local community and demonstrate environmental stewardship."

Meet the Business Owner: Bobby and Dan ..

Both Bobby and Dan are graduates of Haskell Indian Nations University and have MBAs from Western Carolina University. Friends since Haskell, Bobby and Dan had talked about opening a business together for years. When the opportunity came around to run the coffee shop in town, they pounced. This coffee shop is their contribution to the improvement of the Horseshoe Area of Cherokee, NC. It's still a work in progress, but they work to ensure all feel welcome in their coffee shop.

Paired with brussel sprouts which had a great flavor and extra tasty (especially when you dipped them in the sauce from the trout). The Pecan pear salad was really good! Very generous with all the goodies (pecans and raisins) and lightly dressed. Michael was great and kept us well taken care of. We will definitely be back the next time we come through!! (We dug into the deviled eggs before I could snap a picture, but I managed to get a few.)

It was beyond lunch time and I hadn't eaten at all, so I looked around as we drove and saw the sign for this place. I love a good deli sandwich so I asked my husband to pull in and let me run in. It was a Wednesday afternoon and after lunch, so there were only a few people inside. Upon entering, I went in a door that was at a dessert counter. There were few cupcakes and treats in the case, so I quickly went on past to find the counter to order a sandwich. The ladies at the counter were super friendly and took my order quickly. I chose a hot ham and cheese sandwich with bbq potato chips and a fountain drink. The order took about 7 or 8 minutes to be prepared and brought to me in a box to the table where I sat and waited. There was seating outside by the river/creek(?) I believe and then there was seating inside. It looks like it was once another restaurant or some other establishment taht they have transformed into this deli. Don't let the looks of the inside deter you, though! The food was phenomenal! My sandwich was so delicious! I have made note that if ever in the area again, I will be back!

I love Qualla Java!!! Their coffee is so delicious and their large menu of specialty drinks is the cherry on top! The atmosphere is relaxing... be sure to check out the outdoor seating while listening to the bubbling sounds of the Oconoluftee River! Perfect place to hang out with friends, get some work done, or visit while vacationing! They are open year round and have cold drinks and warm drinks for every time of the year!!! I LOVE this coffee shop. They roast beans in house and only use the best Colombian beans. They do have a different country of origin quarterly and I had the Congo, it was amazing, so complex. Enjoy the coffee, environment, and their talented baristas. read more
