Closed on home March 10, 2025. Have been working through warranty portal and email to attempt to…read moreresolve a problem with the countertops to no avail. There is something wrong with the "quartz" finish, it it is actually quartz, causing it to stain when anything is set down on it, even if immediately wiped off. In addition there are horrible buffs/swirls and blemishes on the countertops that are not normal for quartz. Hakes' attempt at resolution was to have countertop company come out and clean the counters, which did nothing as the problem is in the finish. They then suggested sealing it which I have a problem with as 1. quartz does not need to be sealed 2. even if it were sealed, all the blemishes/swirls/stains would then also be sealed in 3. sealing would have to be done on an ongoing basis as the island is the biggest problem and we cook and use that daily. We have had warranty team out and then some additional construction team to no avail. Last meeting was an utter waste of time as the Hakes rep wouldn't even look at the problems, even after being pointed out by other Hakes employees. As we have had to have all the cabinet doors and drawers replaced (still waiting on those) because the finish/clearcoat was not done correctly, there is obvious history of poor craftmanship and materials used in build process. We have asked Hakes to either refund $5390 we paid for "upgraded quartz" in order for us to have countertops replaced or to have Hakes replace them.

Awful quality homes due to lacking attention or concern for detail. The superintendent we had was…read moreNeal Smith. We pointed out several issues with the home during the final walkthrough and demanded repairs. He dismissed a lot of unacceptable things including but not limited to paint splashed all over, concrete splashed all over, incomplete grout and tiling, grout splashed into the actual shower drain clogging it, a garage door seal too short in length, a garage floor with dysfunctional concrete, lacking crickets and seals along the roof that could have led to leaks, a crooked window placed so poorly it wouldn't open or close, the wrong color of stucco painted around the window when replaced etc the list goes on. Upon Neal's attempt to repair these things (he took it upon himself for a few projects), we found the end result actually worse. He didn't wish to hire anyone capable of doing the job correctly. Hakes has a severe problem with identifying what is wrong with their homes due to the work not being done correctly the first time, and thus larger problems on attempted repair. While the tile was repaired and many things were (because we are knowledgeable home owners), these are things that should have been done right the first time. Our shower tile was pooling water due to uneven tiles placed and they all had to be repaired. Hakes was taking shortcuts on the repair and the workmen who came to do so were honest with us and informed us they were doing it how Hakes wanted them to, not how the correct work is supposed to be done. Having to babysit Hakes and their "workers" on these repairs to ensure they are done correctly and not with crooked intent to save themselves money was really exhausting and required a lot of time off of work. It was nothing but inconvenient to have to have SO much redone when we had already moved in because the repairs took so long and the work wasn't done right originally!!! Unethical people. There are ethical issues with these people. Never buy a house from Hakes Brothers. Contact me and I will provide you with further details and information if you have any questions.

Victor Saenz does an excellent job of communicating and staying in touch with clients. All estimates and work start on time as promised. The work was done quicker than I expected. The work and materials appear to be excellent quality. I hired Victory Construction to replace a roof, turbine, and repair a water damaged ceiling. Apparently they do a little of everything. The roof appears to be better than what it was when it was new. The ceiling was expertly repaired and one can't tell the ceiling was ever repaired. The ceiling came out better than what the way I was told it would come out. I work graveyards so I sleep during the day. The crew was very respectful of the fact that I am a day sleeper and they didn't make any unnecessary noise. They also took measures to protect my property. They covered anything they worked near to avoid damage I would highly recommend using Victory Construction, and I plan on using them again in the future.

Stucco work around the windows was very uneven and messy. Stucco was slopped onto our brand new windows and screens, our cement patio and our patio chairs. After I cleaned up their mess from the stucco work, the next working day they spilled paint once again onto our new windows and screens. I asked that they use drop clothes and plastic to protect where they worked, but they ignored this request. Every day the workers left their lunch trash on site. They never cleaned up after work each day. After alerting the company that their workers were not very good, it took over two months for the supervisors to inspect the work. Victor agreed that the work was not professional. At least he had the courtesy of not charging us the final payment because the work was so bad!
