I've already written a review of the Atlanta Greyhound station, so it's about time I reviewed the one in Macon. I'm going to compare the two stations while being mindful of the fact that Atlanta is a much larger city. By comparison, Macon is about the same size as Savannah, GA but doesn't have the tourist attractions of Savannah. Due to its lack of tourism to boost the economy and its poor political leadership throughout the years, Macon is threadbare by comparison. Jobs have moved away and in the process, crime has risen. As a graduate of Southwest Macon High School, I have fond memories of being a teenager in Macon but the town has been going downhill for some time now. The Greyhound bus station is located in Macon's depressed downtown and is smaller than the one in Atlanta. It's a small room with a few vending machines, a front desk counter and some relatively clean restrooms (at least it was during the only time I ever used it there). Outside, there are several lanes for the buses to pull into and at the very front is a tiny parking lot. Within short walking distance is a Checker's, Zaxby's, Krystal, a gas station/convenience store and a restaurant that sells hot wings. There is also a motel called the Macon Scottish Inn nearby, though I wouldn't recommend staying there because it's one of the filthiest motels in town. There usually aren't any taxis waiting in front of the station but if you call the local Yellow Cab company (phone number 478-762-6464), a taxi will arrive to pick you up within five minutes. I prefer riding the bus from Atlanta to Macon as opposed to the other way around. The reason why is because when you ride Greyhound from Atlanta, the bus begins its route from the Atlanta station. But when you catch the bus in Macon going back to Atlanta, the bus begins its route in Florida and picks up passengers from all the stations in various cities along the way. So by the time it gets to Macon from Florida, the bus is packed and you end up having to shoehorn yourself into one of the few remaining seats (which from my experience is usually beside the stinky restroom, the congested old man, or the mother with the crying baby). The worst thing about the Macon station is, unlike Atlanta, the lobby isn't open 24 hours. The buses will still stop there after hours but the lobby area will be closed. If you're catching a bus then, you will have to wait outside until the bus arrives. No worries. You won't be alone. The city's homeless population that tends to congregate there at night will be more than happy to keep you company during your wait. If you've read my two-star review of Atlanta's Greyhound station, you're probably wondering why I'm rating Macon's station a three even though it's not open 24 hours and is smaller than Atlanta's station. I'm doing so because Atlanta is a major city that can do better. Macon doesn't have the same resources and is basically doing the best they can with what they have. Here is the cancellation policy - How do I cancel my reservation? You must cancel or change your reservation by 11:59pm the day before your travel date. No refunds will be issued. If you need to cancel, you will be issued a credit for use on future travel within the next year. The travel credit is valid for one year from its issue date (the date of the original cancellation). Travel must be rebooked by the expiration date (one year from its issue date). The travel does not need to occur by the expiration date. Credit will not be issued if cancelling after 11:59pm the day before your travel date. Same-day reservations are not eligible for credit if cancelled.

VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!!…read more Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! Greyhound got rid of their station after they joined Flix, a German company. They have a small waiting room and bathroom. Most of the time, Greyhound drivers will not allow you to get off the bus to use the bathroom or smoke.

I tried calling her twice at the number that was listed on the rider contact. She would not answer. The call finally split said "caller restrictions". I texted her and she didn't return my text. I waited for 12minutes beyond the time when she was supposed to arrive and then got a message that my trip was canceled and I was charged a cancelation fee that was damn near 50% of my total ride cost. I texted her again and then got a serious of messages saying they didnt know who I was trying to contact but they weren't Uber. I texted that this was the correct number. Also if it wasnt correct why didnt they text me when I first tried to contact them asking where they were or giving a more precise location? Im so pissed right now. If there was a Lyft in the area, I'd damn sure take them the next go round. F#€K UBER!!
