I live over an hour away and simply asked them to verify a specific setting in the "Developer Options" (OEM Unlocking) and to confirm the condition of the screen (scratches/dimming) before I made the three-hour round trip. ​They absolutely refused to check the settings or provide any real details on the quality of the item. They made up multiple excuses instead of taking thirty seconds to look at the device. If a pawn shop won't verify the basic functionality or hardware status of an expensive electronic item before a customer drives long distance, they are likely hiding something or just don't care about customer service. ​Save yourself the drive and the headache. Plenty of other shops are willing to be transparent about what they are selling.

The tech admitted to my face that he forgot to contact me. Phone lady tried to argue with me that they did attempt to contact me but couldn't reach me - my phone records say otherwise. (Yes, they did have my correct contact info!) The tech somehow misunderstood that I wanted him to go ahead with the repair on my laptop after I was updated with the diagnostic results.
