Our pool was painted three years ago and the estimator said "Right out of the gate we have to charge you $4K to remove the paint." I didn't say anything just listened to him. About 15 minutes later, he says the company that removes the paint charges $3K. So I asked him is it $4K or $3K? He knew he just admitted the company pads the subcontractor bill by 33%. Also, they never gave me an estimate. I called and reminded them but never got one. I'm grateful because I went with Affordable Pools and they were excellent.

We did not like the plastic, cheap looking solutions they offered and the price was very high. We decided to look around and went to Pinch-A-Penny in Lutz, FL for something else but asked if they could help us find what we were looking for. They the exact model we were looking for and said they had an installer. The price was very reasonable so we bought the hand rail and I called Michael's to schedule the install. They quickly gave me a date a few days out. The tech's sent me a text to let me know they were on there way and I had the part ready for them when they arrived. They took the time to listen to my thoughts on the install and they had some very good recommendations on where to install. I was told they would tell me what type of escutcheons to purchase for the install but they had anticipated what I needed and had it with them. This saved me a trip to pick some up. They had to drill two holes in my pool deck and they did a good job limiting the dust and cleaned up after they cemented the handrail in place. While there, they took a look at a pool light issue and were able to quickly determine the problem and took the time to educate me on how the system works. I would not hesitate to call them for any pool issues in the future.

Make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's. My son had a crack in his beam which in turn cracked…read more3 of his coping tiles and for what ever reason loosened the next 30 next to these. He had the owner out to look at the problem and he said " this is a common problem here". He blamed the problem solely on him by saying the water was above the skimmer which in turn caused the mortar to disintegrate and left us with what we have now. After demolition of the coping is when we realized the beam cracking was the real culprit here not a pool having too much water which I thought seemed strange being a pool is meant to hold water, it is it's only job. My biggest problem with him is the fact that he was quick to blame before looking into this further. So as it turns out we are financially responsible for the repairs and he just walks away. This is way too big of a problem with contractors in this world today. Just please use this info in your search for your contractor and have documentation in writing as to what you expect from this experience years after the project is complete. Hope this is of help to someone.
