I made keys for many, many years and know what should be charged. An old Ford ignition key that I made for $2.50 cost me $8. A single sided Yale key that I made for $1.25 cost me $3.50. I tried to add a key fob to my Nissan using a Dorman kit and accidently pushed button at wrong time effectively deprograming both key fobs. It was the day before Thanksgiving. I called 4 or 5 other places, no one answered or called me back even when I could leave a msg. By Mon. at 3p, not 1 person called me back. Thankfully, I found Quality Lock this time (didn't come up in my search before Thanksgiving for some reason), Brad answered right away & said he could be at my house in about 30 mins. I live on a mountain, and my only key fob the fell of while I was in the yard, so it's virtually impossible to find. I'm a AAA member, but they couldn't find a locksmith for me. My wife and I bought a condo on Oct 3 and had told our realtor that we planned to change the locks as soon as possible after closing. To our surprise and appreciation, she found Brad and arranged for him to do the job for us at 11:00am the next day -- at her expense so I can't say anything about his rates. The home we are selling is about 40 minutes from our new condo. We arrived a early so I could change the code on the garage door. Brad arrived on time and immediately set about getting the job done. First the interior garage door, then the two entry door locks, then the balcony lock -- all made by Schlage. Last he attempted to change the lock mechanism on a beautiful, wall mounted, mirrored jewelry case that had conveyed in the master bedroom. One of the replacement mechanisms he tried was too short. the second was too long. It would require a special order. He asked if he could take the existing mechanism with him and we agreed that he could. He'll be back next week to finish the job. Brad is young compared to all of the locksmiths we've had in the past, but he is no less competent and truly devoted to doing the job right. He was also particularly pleasant to talk to. I would use him again in an instant and recommend him enthusiastically to all of my family and friends.
