The manager, front desk staff, housekeepers, kitchen staff and maintenance workers ALL went out of their way to help us in any way possible.

The hotel itself seems to have been built right before the last big tech boom. There are no USB chargers in the rooms. There is no EV charger (a hotel automatically loses a star for that. You've got parking spaces. You've got power. It's not 1987 anymore. Install chargers.) The walls aren't super thick, so if you're lying awake at 11:15, and you've got neighbors who are banging, you're gonna hear it, but I've rarely been here when it's crowded, so hopefully that's not a problem you have, or I have ever again. One of the biggest perks here is the breakfast buffet. It's got premium waffle makers, fruits, breads, eggs, sausage - all kinds of good stuff. They really take it seriously for a small hotel buffet. The eating area is ample, has tables, couches, AND an outdoor area that overlooks the previously mentioned wildlife area. There's even an outdoor pagoda-type area, and a basketball court.

Seamless. I pre-paid online. I presented my ID and had my room key within five minutes. Customer service was friendly! Check-out was just as easy. Gave my room number and was on my way! The room: The room is spacious. I got a double-Queen room. Plenty of lighting. Decent sized flat screen. A large closet with hangers and an iron inside. The bathroom is where things went wrong. There's an obvious plumbing issue. While showering, the water was not draining. Unfortunately, I had to shower with a pool of water at my feet. When I got out the shower, the floor was completely soaked. The water was flooding from underneath the tub. Also, there were obvious flood water marks near the toilet. Amenities: Free breakfast including items such as yogurt, bagels, oatmeal, pancakes, eggs, Cinnabons, sausages & more. Free coffee and tea available as well. A very large pool is onsite. A small but mighty gym is on site as well. Vending machines and an ATM are in the lobby. I did see multiple signs reminding guests about "Quiet Hours." Which makes me believe this hotel has issues with guest hosting room parties. Outside of the bathroom issues, I would re-book if working in Downtown Pittsburgh again. But for a leisure, social trip I would consider booking elsewhere.

I asked whether I could pay for an early check-in, and instead of responding professionally, she looked at me with obvious disgust and acted like my presence was a problem. Her tone was cold, dismissive, and openly hostile. She told me there were no rooms and that I should just wait, with absolutely no basic courtesy. The way she treated me made me feel deeply unwelcome, and honestly, it felt racist. I was so uncomfortable and upset that even though I could not get a refund, I still left and checked into another hotel. That is how bad this experience was. If this is how they treat guests, people should stay far away from this place.

There were many things to like about the hotel. -- Check-in was a breeze, and staff (Andrew?) was highly responsive to our request to identify a room that would be quiet; -- The actual room was well-appointed and clean. It included a tv, small fridge, microwave, Keurig machine with coffee and tea, and basic toiletries. -- The bed and pillows were comfortable. -- Importantly, the curtains darkened the room, and we were far enough from traffic noise to enjoy a good night's sleep. -- The free breakfast was good (but more limited in selection than some other chain hotels we stayed in recently). It included two hot items (scrambled eggs and sausage), and many other options (cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, muffins/breads, oranges, and orange and apple juices (both seemed diluted). There was sufficient seating in the breakfast area, but the food serving area was in a tight quarters. -- Free parking. However, -- The hotel is "hidden" off the road behind a restaurant. We missed the entrance at first pass, and ultimately our room and parking were behind the trash containers for that restaurant. The "curb appeal" of the hotel was lacking and was somewhat dingy, as were some of the dark hallways, but the actual rooms were much nicer and updated. -- **. The two-story hotel also has an odd layout -- an L shape with multiple entrance doors and inter-connected hallways. We were near the "C" hallway, and the security features of that external door were broken. In theory, we needed to use our room key to enter the building but that feature was broken -- meaning that anyone could enter through that door and gain access to the full hotel but of the interconnected hallways. Obviously, this is a security issue and is the main reason I decided upon a 3-star rather than 4-star rating for the hotel.

For a couple of years, my husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times. We always pay for our entire stays with a reasonable number of credit-card points, rather than paying with cash. Most recently, we stayed at this hotel for two nights. The roads around the hotel were so full of potholes that my husband worried about our vehicle. During check-in, an employee at the front desk could not find our name in the computer, so my husband showed his confirmation email from his phone, and the employee complained about the phone glare in her face. Our room was clean and comfortable. We experienced no problems with the sofa, television, mini fridge, bed, sink, toilet, or shower. The AC was a bit noisy. Someone had put a bandaid over the peep hole in the door, so I recommend a better cover. Checkout went smoothly.
