I stopped here last minute and after 8pm. Easy to get a room. Price sort of ok given it's a Marriott. However - if you expect Marriott quality beds you will be disappointed. This is a very old hotel I guess because the mattresses are terrible. The desk hadn't been properly wiped down and was stained and sticky. I'm giving 3 stars because the checkin was easy and pleasant. But at $130 a night I'd find somewhere else next time. 3 stars for this large chain. Nice Marriott property halfway between PIT and Cranberry. Downside is little food options on the little island here. There is a Sheetz for snacks and gas at least. Breakfast is basic as you'd expect from these chains but coffee was fine and you can at least get a little protein and fruit before your meetings for the day. Rooms were nice - I had a small suite which was nice with a second tv and sitting area and desk for working in the evenings. read more

BED BUGS! BED BUGS! BED BUGS! Do I have your attention yet? If I could give 0 stars I would. My stay at the Fairfield Hotel was nothing short of a horror story from start to finish. Upon checking into my room, I discovered bedbugs. Shocked and disgusted, I immediately informed the desk attendant, who displayed a shocking lack of concern. Her solution was to offer me another room, as if moving me to a different room within the same potentially infested property was a satisfactory resolution. When I expressed my unwillingness to stay on the property due to health concerns, the attendant callously suggested canceling my reservation. Requesting to speak with the manager only added to my frustration, as I was informed that the manager was unavailable and I was unable to receive contact information for them. I would have to return at 7am to have any hope of speaking with them. Unwilling to risk my health and safety, I decided to gather my belongings and check out immediately, asking that the manager contact me the next day. Only after intervention by a Marriott VP did the manager bother to call, at which point they claimed that Ecolab (Ecolab offers water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions according to their website) had inspected the room and found no evidence of bedbugs, despite clear photographic and video evidence I had provided. To add insult to injury, when I questioned what type of insect could have been in the room if not bedbugs, I was met with dismissive responses claiming there were simply no bugs present. As a precaution, I had to spend several hours of my vacation time doing laundry to ensure that I didn't inadvertently carry any bugs home with me. In summary, my experience at Fairfield Hotel was beyond disappointing--it was appalling. The staff's indifference to a serious health hazard, their lack of transparency regarding the issue, and their refusal to take responsibility or offer a satisfactory resolution are completely unacceptable. I strongly advise against staying at this establishment and will be pursuing further action by contacting the health department and keeping my case open with Marriott executives. This experience has not only ruined my vacation but has also left me questioning the hygiene standards and customer care practices of Marriott-affiliated hotels. read more

I stayed here one night for business in the Moon Twp area. The views of the Ohio River from KY room were probably the best thing about the stay. I got there early to check in, as I usually do at many Marriott properties and it's never been a problem, unless they're fully booked, but the guy checking me in immediately told me "check in is at 3PM!" I explained that I knew this, but it's never been a problem, if there are rooms available. About this time a lady, very pleasant and friendly came up and told him to check me in. She looked at my account and then proceeded to do all the things he didn't do (acknowledge my loyalty, etc). Incidentally I had occasion to ask her for toothpaste the next day and she was extremely as professional, polite, and helpful! The room was moderately clean, yet in need of updating and refreshing. There were black, long hairs all over the ceiling in the bathroom and on one of the bedside tables. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls, there were patched cracks in the ceiling. It just needed to be refurbished! The outside of the building really needs to be repaired and repainted, it looks deserted. The bed was decent and comfy and I got a nice sleep. The TV and remote worked well, so did the WiFi. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay, but I'll stay closer to my meeting location on the next trip. read more

Safety was compromised at this location the early morning I checked it. The exterior doors were locked as they should be for safety. However, an overnight employee will let you in when you arrive. I called the hotel but no one appeared so I Had to call 911 bc the employee was MIA for 30 minutes. The officer had to break in, and searched the first floor and found nothing. Finally got a hold of the GM at home. 10 minutes later, the employee magically appeared. I talked to the GM when I checked out but she didn't care much and was more irritated and comfused that she was woken up by the police. read more

My husband made reservations for this Fairfield. When we got, the front desk lady argued with my husband about our reservation. She claimed she never ever got it from the other person. She said that their computer was NOT connected to the that makes reservation. My husband came out to the car to help me go inside to wait. We reserved a Handicap room. When she saw me, her attitude changed quickly. She said she would do her best to help us. Since she could NOT find our first reservation, we still had to pay for it. NOT happy with paying twice at this Fairfield. I will warn all my family and friends NOT to use this one. If I could give you NO STARS I WOULD, but I had to use 1 star. SHAME on you Fairfield in Pittsburgh on Grand Avenue, SHAME!!!! Then to wake up and go to breakfast and find raw and I mean raw bacon, YUCK, No thank you. Plain bagels for us. Even though we spend almost all our business lodging dollars at Marriott/Bonvoy, Marriott/Bonvoy isn't always so good to us in return. Case in point: this place, where we got nothing in return for our loyalty. The room was very dated, and very dirty. The carpet felt damp and sticky. It was a windy night, and a branch on an overgrown tree kept hitting our window. But it was late, and we were very tired. So we decided to just deal with it. Especially since we didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from the desk clerk. The staff, to a person, seemed like they'd rather be doing just about anything else than working here. Poor management? The location is probably okay for travelers passing through on I-79, but awful if you want to explore the city at all. I honestly cannot say enough bad things about this heap of a hotel. But I'm bored, and have better things to do. read more

The vestibule between the entrance's two sets of sliding glass doors smelled of foul body odor... there were several sports teams who were staying there that same evening, but the smell was there the several times that we went in and out of the doors. The lobby was nicely decorated.... although I didn't sit down, the chairs looked comfortable. The hotel provides a nice makeup remover towelette which is great for late arrivals, so I don't have to dig through my luggage to find mine before bedtime. They also provide generous sample sized Pantene shampoo and conditioner which is a great plus. The pool was a nice average size, including a motorized chair to help disabled people get in and out of the water. The hot tub had very powerful jets, but wasn't very hot, and didn't have a way for us to increase the temperature. The no slip seats are very rough... it will not be a big deal for anyone wearing shorts, but definitely if you're just in a bathing suit. The service checking in wasn't phenomenal, but our view more than made up for it. read more

The beds are not comfortable, bathrooms hardly clean and they had a loud housekeeper talking on the phone walking up and down the hall "cleaning" rooms in our hallway at 6pm which wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't have a toddler trying to sleep. A solid place to stay on the river at Neville Island with plenty of rooms overlooking it & the bridge. Sometimes you'll hear traffic, but it's a low susurration & rather soothiing. Updated decor & clean. There is a firepit outside beside the river & is a wonderful place to unwind. They also have a small pool & fitness center, but I've never used those. They have a "convenience store" to purchase snacks & sundries. There is also a small business center where you can print directions etc... Breakfast is included and is a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, pastries, waffle-maker etc...) There is coffee & usually a fridge & microwave in the room. This location is not a far drive from anywhere in Pittsburgh & it's easy to get dahntahn or to Kennywood...!! It's also close to Old Economy Village, which if you're looking for some interesting history of an early "planned community" that's low key, this is the ticket. Note that there is only one restaurant (King's) which is not open late & not much else around so if you're hungry eat in the city if you're a late arrival. Wifi had decent speed, only wrinkle is that I was unable to log on to the Wifi with linux. I switched my laptop to windows and was able to log right in. My Android phone and tablet had no problems. Great hotel, I will stat here again. I recommend staying on the 4th floor, on the end away from the highway. read more

The front desk lady was wonderful. However, the hotel was dirty. The elevator was dirty. Then the hallway had not been vacuumed in while. I always check the bedding and look for signs of bedbugs in every hotel and I found filthy mattress cover, dirty wall with something dripping down it. There is lots of parking, easy to get to off the highway, rooms are large and clean, the staff of friendly, the hotel amenities are nice, and lastly breakfast is included. There is free wifi at the hotel. The only down side is that it's a little far from downtown (about $15 uber ride), and there is nothing to do around the hotel, but in terms of quality, absolutely excellent. read more

Wouldn't come back if free and they paid me. The bed had to be broken or 15 years old. No matter where you laid on the bed, you would slide to the middle because of the divot. The pool for the kids would be ok for 2 kids but it has to be the smallest pool, I have ever seen and with the eye burning chlorIne (just from being in the room you would think the ) the water should be clear. The breakfast, oh boy, the creamer for coffee was in in a fridge and the spout had remnants of creamer that looked like spoiled cottage cheese was inside. The "fresh fruit" was canned pineapple that part was greenish. Do not stay here. read more

***This Fairfield Inn was similar to the one I went to in a Cleveland suburb; though the shower was fine and there was complimentary wi-fi and parking, the lack of a good A/C unit was a big negative considering it was a hot summer week in Pittsburgh*** This Fairfield Inn feels very remote (good or bad depending on what you are looking for). It is about 10 to 15 minutes away from Pittsburgh in a town called Neville Island. It is near a bridge and some water (not the best looking water but still water). The area kind of reminds me of small Ohio towns from my childhood. My first stay at a Fairfield Inn was on this same trip (at one in Cleveland). I was not a huge fan of that one. This one was more or less the same. It seemed to be a newer facility so it did not have any off-putting smells and the rooms were nice enough. There were still issues though. The pillows were not that great; the mattresses were fine (somewhat comparable to a Courtyard). A/C was an issue. Though the temperature knob went down to 60 degrees, the room never really achieved a good, cool temperature. This was the case at the Fairfield in Cleveland too (at least the bed at this location was closer to the cooling unit). The bathroom was significantly bigger compared to the Cleveland one. There was enough sink counter space to put stuff (which was an issue at the Cleveland location). The towel rack was not in a convenient location though (too far from the shower). The shower was good. In terms of amenities, there was free wi-fi, which was a plus. They also did a complimentary breakfast including cereal, whole fresh fruit, juices, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and a waffle station. The fitness center was 24/7 and it was comparable to a Courtyard Marriott fitness center in terms of size and equipment. The fitness center towels were not as good as Courtyards and the towel hampers were not in a convenient location (they were not really hampers but little boxes underneath a shelving unit that held the towels). There is a little complimentary internet and print station at the lobby, which was also a plus though the printer did not do a good job printing out tickets for United (the barcode got cut off). Service was good. The staff seemed pleasant and helpful. Weekday prices are reasonable enough. I am not sure what they charge on weekends, but I imagine they might be lower since this is probably not a big vacation area. I opted for this Fairfield since it was part of the Marriott brand. The price was also better than nearby Courtyard Marriotts, but there is a definitely drop off in quality. Considering that it was hot in Pittsburgh, the lack of a good A/C unit was a big negative and would be reason enough to pay the extra amount for a Courtyard Marriott. Parking is complimentary and it is easy to find an open space. read more

Loved this hotel! Its brand new so the rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. Some of the rooms have fridges and microwaves as well. Like other Fairfield Inns, there is free wireless internet and breakfast. In the business library, printing is free too! There was a wide variety of breakfast options: waffles, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, cereal, etc. Because this hotel is about 15 minutes away from downtown Pittsburgh, the price was cheaper than other hotels, but if I came back to Pittsburgh, I would stay here again and again! read more

Stayed here with a team for a tournament that was going on at the Sports Complex down the road. (First Night of Flight). We had 2 suites which were identical. (+) Very clean with a nice decor. Probably renovated in the past year or so. (+) Fridge and microwave in the suite (+) Indoor hot tub and heated indoor pool. The pool was a maybe 10x20 ft large. (+) Continental breakfast (+) All the employees were helpful and very accommodating. We had 5 adults per suite and they were more than happy to supply us with extra towels, shampoo, and a air mattress. (+) There's a diner named Kings right out front. (+) Cheaper since it's 20 minutes away from downtown Pitt. (-) It is indeed 20 minutes away from downtown Pitt. All in all, I had a very pleasant stay here. We ended up paying a little under 70 a person for 2 nights which is great for the area. I'm giving it 5 stars for the Price Value of a new hotel with a friendly staff. read more

The boyfriend and I flew up to Pittsburgh, last minute, for the Steelers playoff game. We usually stay in Marriott hotels, so this trip was no different. Apparently, we got really lucky getting our room though, when we were there, the Fairfield was undergoing some pretty serious remodeling and floors 2 and 3 were shut. The front desk guy told us they were 100% booked, but only 35% of rooms were full because so many were shut. Everyone who works here seems to be really nice and helpful. They were apologetic about the remodeling and any inconvenience. The 4th floor had clearly not yet been remodeled a s it needed it. One of the lampshades in our room looked like it had been smashed against the wall a dozen times. There were no liners in the trash cans. The toilet wasn't a fan of flushing. The shower curtain was mounted so high, it was barely long enough to keep water in the tub. I love that Fairfield has free breakfast, so we definitely took advantage of it. Mmmm waffles. I was a little bummed they had sausage patties and not bacon, though. Overall, I'd stay here again, but only once the renovations are done. I'm positive the score would be higher after the remodel. read more

Our girls ice hockey team stayed at this hotel for the Thanksgiving tournament. The accommodations were great. We had a pizza party for the team and parents and Wendy the night manager could not have been friendlier and accommodating. Will absolutely book there again. read more

Cons: They use box heating/cooling units, and it was kind of hard to figure out how to get a consistent room temperature. After getting off the 79 freeway Neville Island coming from the airport straight into the lot, the hotel looked new and nice. The front desk staff and hotel shuttle drivers are friendly and accomodating. Shuttle drivers can take you to restaurants and certain areas if you just call the front desk and ask. The info book in the room had menu's to call for delivery, which i did the 1st night. The beds were really comfy, decor was inviting and warm with colors orange, greens, browns and blues. The bathroom was pretty big too. Shower head was high but pressure was good. Temperature in the room was always comfortable since you can set it yourself. I got a room with a view of the front parking lot but it was still an ok view. Very clean hotel. The next 2 days of my stay for dinner I went to Robinson's Mall area which is about 8 miles away. I would stay here again if i needed to be around this area. read more

So if you are drinking and looking for convenience this is not the place. ROOM was clean but again nothing great. The pictures on the wall were better to look at then the high way view outside. PITTSBURG in general didn't have much to brag about. So I am not going to find myself out here ever again unless someone is getting married or dies. This property has the filthiest room that I have ever stayed at in all of my stays in Marriott properties. I am Titanium for Life meaning that I have stayed about three plus years of my life in Marriott run properties. The air conditioning unit in the room is filthy and I cannot even imagine what I was breathing last night. The carpeting was dirty and need at least a Bissell Green Machine if not something more industrial. The sheet was placed directly to the mattress with no mattress pad. The bedding quality was poor and nothing smelled fresh. Due to poor maintenance and cleaning of the AC unit it sounds like an ice machine. If you are considering staying in this dump then my advice is to sleep under a bridge or in your car. Either of those two options will probably save you from whatever diseases are crawling over my skin at the present moment. read more

This last visit, however, I will say that on Sunday there were no towels in the swimming pool and it looked like a tornado might have touched down in the exercise room. It's a few minutes away from downtown Pittsburgh which is a plus. My company put me here and i guess they didn't know about this place but it was really close where i was going to work. I don't like the location but i had no idea where to eat when i arrive. Everyfood seems like it was 20 minutes away. Wish my company put me near the mall which has many restaurants to eat at. They have a decent breakfast in the morning and there is free wi-fi. read more

We had an excellent experience this weekend at the Fairfield in in Neville Island. My expectations were definitely exceeded. The room was very clean, and had several amenities including ipod dock, 2 plasma tvs, hairdryer, coffee maker, and fridge. The indoor pool is small but just what we needed for a 22 month old son. I used the fitness room - which has a few treadmills and some weights. The free breakfast was delish - so many options including waffles, oatmeal, sausage, eggs, cereal, etc. More than we could ask for! The staff were so pleasant and accommodating - we were truly appreciative. We will be back on our next visit to the burgh :) read more

Strike One: Booked room on Booking.com and was charged a higher rate when we arrived at the hotel despite showing the front desk agent our confirmation number and email. She said that's what Booking.com charged, not the hotel. I was confused. She insisted on charging us the higher rate even after speaking with someone from Booking.com. Even after "adjusting" our rate it was still much higher than the rate agreed upon. Felt like we were shaken down and the hotel pulled a bait and switch. STRIKE TWO: Despite signs in the pool area telling guests to completely dry off before leaving the area, there were no towels to dry off with. I went to the frontt desk to get some towels but no one was around. Someone finally showed up when the phone rang. I asked for towels and the person seem irritated. We waited for almost a half an hour in the pool area before calling again. Twenty minutes later someone finally came.  STRIKE THREE: Person woke us up around 8a.m. to GIVE US OUR BILL!! Checkout was hours away but this person kept knocking till I came to the door. Couldn't they just slide it UNDER the door??  Will never come back to this property again. They need to fire the staff and start all over. I've worked for a major hotel chain for many years and we would've gotten fired for the stuff that they got away with. Been treated better at cheap, two star motels than here. Skip this one of you need someplace to stay. There are plenty of better ones out there worth your time and your money. read more
