Went to this concert venue for the first time Saturday night to see Thievery Corporation, and what a great night! Love this small venue. Parking wasn't bad - we found something across the steeet (on street parking). There's also a lot behind the place. I'm guessing this fills up, fast, but we got there fairly early. They opened the doors on time - at 7pm - and we weren't in line too long waiting for our ID check and wrist band (they could use more than *one* poor guy doing this, btw). I don't love this segregated/upcharge thing most venues seem to be doing nowadays, but at least the general admission SRO areas in this place have decent views. We grabbed a spot just behind the sound/lighting guys in the middle of the GA area. One note --- our friends who bought into the standing area right by the stage ended up joining us 1/2 way through, because they said the audio was blasting them. The place is nicely restored; has a good bar area with a better drink selection than many places we've tried in Pittsburgh. Hubs & I each got a hazy IPA, and he also got a big pretzel (which was ok - a bit too doughy for my taste). WOWZER those 3 things were expensive: **$43**!!! We decided to consider it a donation, so places like this can stay open, but oooffff. $$$$$$$$ Sound, lights were great. Staff were friendly. We'll definite be back. read more

Another nice experience at The Roxian! This time I saw Johnnyswim's Christmas show. Great sound, well lit and clean bathrooms, easy to navigate, easy to get in. Security checks were thorough. One note is that we had floor seats this time, and the seats are those cheap plastic folding chairs, which are really squished together. This is an area that could be improved, but I'd still be glad to return. Great show! read more

We saw a show at the Roxian recently and had a wonderful time! I was worried about the parking and feeling safe in the area, but there were several street spots right out front available along with several spots in the rear parking lot. We arrived about 30 mins after doors opening and had no issues parking and heading in. The venue itself is beautiful, clean, and pretty spacious. We had GA tickets and were in the open space on the first floor. The bar line did get long throughout the night and drinks were a bit pricey, but it was all expected. I'm sure the seats on the second floor/balcony have a great view. I'd love to come back! read more

Consistently the worst venue in Pittsburgh. Abrasive sound and poor sightlines for at least 1/3rd of the audience.

So, I made my first trek to the Roxian Theatre in February 2025 to see Jay and Silent Bob. I had been intrigued about visiting sooner for a Pink Floyd laser show but was hesitant based on being in McKees Rocks. It was dumb, and I should have went. So my wife and I arrived about 20 minutes before the doors opened. There were easily 75-100 people in line. They had workers checking ids if you wanted to purchase an alcoholic drink. Once doors opened it was very efficient to get in/thru security. Venue is pretty amazing overall. The restoration was done very well. Seats were tight, different drink options were available. As others said there is a $30.00 parking lot option behind the theater. I parked elsewhere. I felt safe before/after the show. I wouldn't pregame around here before a show. Definitely a quality venue for a show. I would certainly return. read more

There are a lot of artists I like who play the Roxian so I am grateful to them for helping bring these groups to town. However, there are a few things I just don't understand: For starters, why do they insist on a process that creates that longest lines relative to venue size of any stage in the area? I spoke with an employee who was even more exasperated but said he has given up on his suggestions to improve it being taken seriously. In any event, when there's a packed house, as there was last night, and it's a rainy night, prepare for a long, wet wait, and get there early if you don't want to miss the first band. The second item that just annoys me is the sound guys blocking the view of the band for a very substantial part of the crowd. The control area is in the middle of the venue, and there was little chance to squeeze into the front area last night, and the sound guy insisted on standing all night, so everyone in our area was treated to a night of the back of his head. A few tweaks could make this one of my favorite venues in town. read more

This is an amazing venue! I have been here multiple times for different genres of live music, and every experience has been great. It is conveniently located to the city, has available parking, and is easy to get in and out of. Once inside, the renovated theater has plenty of seats, restrooms, bars, everything! They really know what they're doing here. Most recently I went to the Punchline show and it was freezing outside. Everyone had big coats, so I was glad to see they had a $5 coat check. They have a full bar with lots of beers and cocktail options. The sound is always great and you can see from anywhere in the venue. I will say it is a tight squeeze for a metal show. I saw August Burns Red a few years ago and the pit is not big enough to accommodate that type of music. Overall I really love this venue and am so happy to have it in Pittsburgh! read more

A small venue that seats 2,000 people. Newly renovated. Only food sold at this venue is chips and popcorn. However, there is a bar on both levels. Bathrooms are big and on both levels so no need to worry about a line. Recommend parking at the shopping center next to the venue so you don't pay for parking. Only things that was super irritating and disappointing was our seats were the first row in the west balcony and there was a cage/bars on the wall in front of us so we couldn't see! (See photo I posted, I lifted my arm up to take photo) This was disappointing because the show we went to was a podcast taping where they sat on the stage the whole time so we just couldn't fully see them. Strange that wouldn't be recognized when building the venue. We talked to girls on the opposite balcony as us and they had the same issue. read more

We flew in from out of state to see Band of Horses back in June, and we loved the ambiance and vibe of this theater. It has a really intimate feel and there is no bad spot to watch your favorite bands. Glad we decided to make the trip and hope to see more shows here in the future. read more

After 1st time visit not sure ill be back. Theb venue itself is clean and great sound (a little too loud for how small of a space) but with few issues. There is no parking when we thought there may be more street parking. We had to pay $30 to pay in a random lot. Also I'm shocked the bathroom is all the way downstairs which isn't very guest friendly. There should be a better way to organize the standing room only spots. You couldn't walk away to get a drink or restroom without losing spot. We got there early and had a place along the railing and afraid to move. I left with a sore neck, back and feet. read more

Attended this venue for the first time with a group of friends for Mandy Moore. I've heard great things about this venue and agree, this place is an ideal venue. We stayed out in the parking lot throughout the opener and avoided a line to get in. When we entered the venue for the headliner we were able to go from the upper general admission section to the lower general admission floor section easily. To note - they don't have a kitchen but have all the things you would find at a Hills snack bar. Also the bathrooms are downstairs and it's a little of a walk to get there. I would recommend arriving early to take advantage of the free parking in the lots behind the venue. There is also premium parking where some of my friends parked for a small fee with ticket purchase but day of show the cost was approximately $30. The parking price isn't necessary, spend the money on a souvenir instead!! read more

I came to town specifically for a show here recently. My experience was a solid three stars. Not the best but not the worst either. It started when we got there shortly after opening. There was a crazy long line, but I was really impressed with how quickly the staff got everyone inside. They had someone working the line checking IDs and enough staff to keep security moving smoothly. Considering how many people there were, they did a really good job. The inside of the theater was similar to one in my home town, just more squished together. One thing I didn't like was that the restrooms were down a long staircase in the basement. I can say that they kept them clean, though. As for the production and sound, it was alright. A lot of people were complaining that it wasn't loud enough, but I still used my ear plugs, so it was plenty loud enough for me. The folks at the bar were nice and the drinks were as expected. I think I spent roughly $12 on a High Noon. I wasn't a fan of the canned water either, but they did have free water available. I even noticed them handing it out at the front of the stage, which is always a nice gesture. The security was pretty friendly at the end of the night getting everyone out. This venue wasn't the best for the show I went to, but I can see it being nice for others. Worth checking out. read more

So disappointed! My sister and I were looking forward to seeing Rilo Kiley for months and put so much effort into getting there. We arrived early and waited in line. An employee came through the line and checked our IDs. Every time he put a wristband on someone he threw the backing on the ground. When we asked him about it he claimed "someone picks them up at the end of the night". This was obviously not true when we left and saw them scattered everywhere. After getting inside, our first experience was with a bartender who was so busy checking his phone and seemed put out that we were asking questions about beer. That's literally his job, but ok. Then we managed to get some awesome places to stand in the pit area. Right before Jenny came on my sister went to use the restroom and get another drink. On her way back down the guy (Apparently the supervisor??? but I have my doubts based on his ability to navigate the situation) told her the space was at max capacity due to a fire code and wouldn't let her back down with me. There was no mention this might be a possibility when she left. I went to speak with him and he said it didn't matter that we had been down there since the doors opened and she wouldn't be allowed back down and I would have to leave to be with her. So I had to leave and stand clear in the back by the doors which was not super fun. Before I exited I mentioned that the guy was throwing the litter on the ground outside. The "supervisor" told me that it wasn't true because he was out there and didn't see it happen. I love being gaslit by a 20 year old "supervisor" boy. So take this for what it is worth before you invest those $ into a night of fun at this place. #bummer. read more

I went to the Roxian for the first time this year and really loved the venue. Going to concerts is my favorite thing to do. I really missed it during covid and am so happy to be back. This is one of the nicest venues in the city. The decorations are really nice. They have multiple bars where you can get drinks and snacks. The really nice thing is that upstairs, there are QR Codes in front of each seat. You scan them to pull up the drink menu. On the menu, you can choose from beer, seltzer, and cocktail selections then they bring them right to your seat. They are also really quick in filling your order, which was really great. For my first concert there, my neighbor and I were downstairs. It is standing room only and can get pretty crowded. The second concert, I decided to try the seats upstairs. I am so glad that we did. The seats were very comfortable and since the venue is pretty small, even though we were in the back, we still had great views of the stage. We could even dance up there, which was great. Everyone was standing for 311. We loved it and had a great time. Love this venue and will definitely be back! Can't wait to go again! read more

This was our first time at this theater. First, parking is difficult. Some people were charging $30 to park. This isn't downtown Pittsburgh. We parked in an existing lot where the old drug store for Walgreens was located. When you enter to the right is the restrooms in the basement. To your left takes you up to the balcony seating. We had general admission which is on the floor and then in the pit near the stage. That's where we went. it's awesome seeing a big star and being like 5 feet from the stage. This Illy Philly was eagerly anticipating the R&B Live experience here at the Roxian, and I was so over the top with what I experienced. I have to start with the fact that it was one of the coldest nights of the year, and the line was incredibly long! I waited in line for 20 to 30 minutes. Once in, I was greeted by staff with smiles, which always makes me happy with customer service. The venue was clean and bright, and the ambiance was nice. The staff in every section were all pleasant and accommodating. The drinks were pricey, but good. I would like them to consider some vegan options for finger foods, but no complaints. I can't wait to attend another event here. read more

Last weekend was my first time at the Roxian Theatre, and I'm so glad I finally got to check it out! It's nice to have a venue like this on the west side of the city. My friends and I came out to see Orville Peck and it was such a great show! The venue was clean (we love a clean bathroom), the set change happened rather quickly, and the sound was great. I liked that they had quite a few options for beers and beverages at the show, too. We weren't quite in the pit, but there was plenty of room available and the view of the stage that we had was perfect. I hope some more artists I love come to the Roxian in the future, because I would definitely like to come back here and I'm sure I will! read more

I've driven by here dozens of times in the last three years but never had a concert that brought me in. That changed this past week when I was gifted a ticket to Mandy Moore and AHI and I had an incredible experience! I was general admission but I found a railing next to the sound engineers that gave me a great view of the stage and was slightly removed from the throngs of other concert-goers. Great music venue. There are bars and bathrooms on all 3 floors so you never have to travel far and miss the show. The staff is all very helpful and do an amazing job quickly getting people into the venue and servibg drinks. This theater is nothing but a gem just outside of Pittsburgh in McKees Rocks! I never even knew it existed until I purchased tickets for the TEDx Women Talk. The theater which has some original design has also been updated in many ways. Each floor and wing has its own bathroom. There is a bar on the first floor. Despite how small this theater looks and sometimes feels, there was never an issue with being overcrowded or flow of traffic. And the TEDx Talk was a sold out affair. I'd love to see a wedding in this space as I imagine there have probably been some weddings had here. Parking is limited. There was a huge lot in the back but not sure if it belonged in its entirety to the theater. Either way, it was completely full as was street parking so I ended up parking in the shopping center lot. read more

I recently went to an event at the Roxian Theater. It was my first time there. The theater is right in the middle of McKees Rocks and it is easy to spot. It is fairly new from what I understand. Everything was clean and spacious. The basement has restrooms, the main floor has a stage, an out layout for general admission (standing room), a merch corner and a concession stand. I really struggle with this review and rating. There are lots of pluses to this venue. There is plenty of off street parking behind the theater and there were two interesting food trucks near the parking area. The remodeled theater is beautiful. Security is tight, but the staff is very polite and friendly. One annoying thing in this regard is that once you pass through security and present your ticket you are given a paper band that goes around your wrist. You then pass through doors into either the main level or balcony and a staff member checks your ticket and then applies a stamp to the back of your hand, which seems to more of a belt and suspenders approach to security. There are two levels (stage level and balcony level. There are restrooms and concession stands on both levels. My and I were there to see YMSB, who we love and have seen several times at different types of venues. Our seats were first row balcony. There is a metal railing that can be a bit annoying unless you are quite tall or rather short. The stage level is primarily a standing room area, a couple of raised platforms that provide some seating. The lighting and sound systems are top notch. However (and this the 3 star, not 4 or 5 star rating), the acoustics are not what they should be for a theater venue. Vocals were muddled for the most part (at least on the balcony), which is disappointing. Not having spent any time on the main level, I am not sure how the vocals sound there. read more

Not a bad venue to see a show. You could buy half a case of good beer for one drink, (or a full case of bad beer) but I guess that's just business. Card only, no cash. Parking near there is pre-pay only, but you can find plenty of free spots if you don't mind walking a bit. Security made random calls, ladies with metal-link spiked chains, come on in, man with chain wallet- leave the weapons at home, you criminal! Definitely a few of them on power trips, so adjust your fashion accordingly, or be prepared to go back to your car if you get a super cop wannabe. Overall, a clean venue that is a decent size. Sound control booth was awkwardly placed, but the stage is high enough to see over. read more

I was super surprised how nice this venue was when I walked through the doors. You do have to go through security (good idea) and they place an armband on your right arm. The main floor has no seats, but plenty of open space for standing and dancing. There is also a large bar. You can take the steps or the elevator up to the balcony level. We had tickets in the first row, which I was excited about because I am short and I can rarely see over people's heads. When we got to the balcony level, we now had to get our hand stamped. I have no idea why, but it was a big black dinosaur and now the ink was getting all over me. It still wasn't dry after 15 minutes. I have no idea why we needed the stamp when we already had the arm band, but it was annoying. My first row seats turned out to be disappointing. There are bars to protect you from falling over the edge, but they are right in your sight line. Everyone around us was complaining. We had to either slouch way down in our seats, or sit up really straight and tall. Additionally, the row are too close together and there is no leg room. Yes, I am short, but I have bad knees and need to stretch. I couldn't do it, and we ended up having to leave early because I couldn't take sitting in that seat any longer. The stage is great as is the sound system. The group we saw was amazing, but the light show with their music was annoyingly in my eyes. I wish the seating wasn't as cramped as I would come back again, but since it is what it is, I probably won't. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I can't stand for a concert so I paid the extra to get balcony seats. Unfortunately four people in the front row stood up. I was in row c, right in the center and I could see nothing. We talked to the staff but there was no rule against it, so staff were helpless to do anything about it. They were very kind and apologetic, but there seemed to be the pervasive idea that sometimes that's just how it is. Well, it shouldnt be. I paid the extra for third row seats. If I wanted to stand, I would have paid for GA tickets. But I paid for a seat. I should be able to sit in it and see the show. There absolutely needs to be a policy implemented. I came here with a group of friends to see Motion City Soundtrack. I had never heard of it before, being from Buffalo. I liked that it was a smaller venue and renovated. The coat check was efficient and we got into the building quickly. This is probably the nicest bar and beer selection I've seen at a smaller venue like this one, and I really appreciated the free water dispensers at the bar. I've never seen that before. They had 20 beers on tap and reasonable prices. However, the reason I gave three stars is the sight lines. When we entered at the back, we couldn't see the stage at all. When we ventured toward the front more, we saw that the pit area was a few steps down and very crowded. If you're under 6 feet tall like my two female friends and I are, you had to be at the very front before the steps down to be able to see anything. I had tall people in front of me the whole time and had a hard time seeing. For an apparently renovated venue, this seems like a major oversight. I have been to a few smaller venues in Buffalo and Rochester NY and it's much easier to see when the stage is elevated vs looking down on it. Even when we went up to the balcony seats, the railings seemed to be in the way too. read more
