DoubleTree was a nice hotel, located about a 10-minute drive to Stage AE, that doesn't feel overly condensed and easily accessible to the highway. The valet parking was convenient, and the workers were pleasant. We appreciated the kindness of the front desk staff. The rooms were clean and ours was a good size. However, it was a little awkward for the bathroom as the toilet paper holder was behind the door. The toilet didn't flush properly. The shower had hot water, but pressure was adequate to get by. The hotel restaurant was good, and we enjoyed our breakfast. Besides that, the coffee was a little weak for my liking. Typical hotel pricing for our meal. I've stayed here before. Great location in the d/t area, but easy access out if need be. Most of my work is in the Canonsburg area. The hotel itself is older, but all the modern amenities. Good restaurant and bar. Mtg rooms. Price is reasonable. The room I had was on the 19th floor, nice view. The room was, that I was upgraded to - a king suite - fancy- was big and roomy, too much for me, but nice for a long stay or with family. A/C is so cold. Bed was comfy. Bathroom a bit small and they do need to upgrade the toilet - short round old style. I'm tall a short toilet is a real issue. But that said, a nice room. There is a mini fridge and microwave but randomly sitting in a vacant spot in the room. They could step that up as the room is big. The one issue I did have was I got here on Labor Day. The restaurant and bar were closed for the holiday. That was a bit of an issue as I planned on eating in and having a drink at the bar. Additionally, my room came with a $30 credit for bar and restaurant, but they were closed so nothing to do with the credit. And couldn't use it on parking. But these are mgmt issues, not the comfort. Just make plans if it's a holiday. I'll stay here again. read more

The Double Tree Hilton in Downtown Pittsburgh is a place I've stayed a few times while coming back home to visit family or see friends. Things I love about it would be: The valet is pretty efficient The restaurant typically doesn't not get overly crowded and serves a good breakfast and lunch The 7-11 connected to the hotel The staff at the hotel is friendly The beds are comfortable The WiFi is great The location downtown Things the could use some work: Lack of public restrooms in the hotel- the first floor bathroom was broken or under construction The elevators were a bit slow The rooms were a bit dated Getting to the valet - both your car and literally by person can be confusing Overall this is a good hotel for me to stay at for a few nights. I enjoy the double tree. This staff here has always treated me nicely and has taken care of me. This hotel does need a little TLC to it, however I will continue to stay here. We have stayed here so many times I think I've undercounted our stays. Out son also stayed at the downtown doubletree Hilton once. We are always amazed that Ally makes sure we are comfortable and the rooms are clean and well furnished. even when the hotel is busy you feel cared for. DeVaughn has the best greetings and Curtis makes you feel like you've returned home. The hotel is close to everything so we walk in the morning and after dinner. The restaurant on the first floor has a nice bar and great breakfasts. Cannot wait to return later this month. Have to bring friends this spring. read more

The DoubleTree is a hotel chain that has hundreds of properties in dozens of countries. This particular DoubleTree is located in downtown Pittsburgh. This hotel is within walking distance of the entire downtown area, including the business district (which also has many restaurants and much entertainment), the Hill (which contains the Penguins arena), and other neighborhoods, and it is a short walk to the T subway "Steel Plaza" station to reach the North Shore (for the Steelers and Pirates). The hotel has a few hundred rooms across 21 floors. Standard rooms and suites are available in a variety of sizes, layouts, and prices. Amenities include the Bigelow Grille restaurant, garage with valet parking for $36 per night, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, laundry facility, wi-fi, meeting rooms, business center, convenience store, etcetera. The hotel is pet-friendly and allows one dog up to 50 pounds. My husband and I have stayed at this DoubleTree hotel off and on for over a decade, initially for visits when we lived out of state and more recently for staycations. Our most recent room was a standard room with a king bed for two nights for a total of $386 (including taxes and fees). We dropped our vehicle off in the garage, and then we rode the elevator down to the lobby to check in. We waited in line for several minutes to check in. The employee spoke nicely to us and handed over our key cards as well as two free chocolate-chip cookies. Our room was clean and in mostly good condition. The room contained a comfortable bed, a large television, a desk and chairs, a wine refrigerator, etcetera. The windows gave us beautiful views of the downtown skyline. The blinds and curtains blocked out the city lights at night, but their rod was crookedly attached to the wall. The bathroom lacked a fan, so when we showered, water droplets formed on the ceiling and dripped down. The water, though, had excellent pressure and comfortable temperatures, and I liked the quality of the body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and bar soap. Overall, we have enjoyed all of our stays here. Although I did not award a 5-star rating, we would stay at this hotel again in the future, because we think that it is the best value in the downtown area. read more

Stayed at this hotel while in town for a concert at the arena. The location was perfect ! We were pretty much able to walk everywhere - the arena, museums, restaurants. The customer service was good - staff was friendly and attentive, and of course we were given warm cookies when we arrived. The room itself was just ok. It didn't seem super clean. The bedding had a few dirty spots, maybe makeup. The bathroom didn't have a vent, so after showering, there was always dampness in the air. It seemed like a mold problem waiting to happen. When we checked in there was also hair in the tub. A more thorough cleaning would have gone a long way. read more

I enjoyed my two-day stay at the Double Tree by Hilton Pittsburgh. First, the staff was friendly, professional, and always helpful with questions or concerns. There is no street parking, so you have to valet park, which is $35 a day, but when you request your vehicle, they quickly retrieve it. The decor is a little dated, but the rooms are clean and very comfortable. There is a bar and restaurant where you can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a moderate price. The hotel is within walking distance from PNG Arena where the Penguins play. I recommend this hotel. read more

Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name on this hotel. It is extremely run down. The wall switches are dirty. The wallpaper is falling off the walls in the bathroom as well as in the room itself. The blinds were ripped and falling apart as well. The shower drain is chipping. Overall, the quality is pretty bad. I absolutely would not stay at this location again. This is not what I expect from Hilton properties. Our room just felt gross. read more

Parking at this location is absolutely horrendous. We pull in and we are told self parking is across a super busy congested street. We had to go out down two blocks loop around just to literally get across the street. We make our way out of the garage, across the street only to be told the lot is for lease/pass holders only and to go across to the doubletree. Yes the same double tree that sent us there. Stayed here upon our visit for a concert at PPG Arena. The room was nice; pretty clean except the carpet. I believe the room number was 817. It had a separate living room area and a desk area. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom was small but clean. When we checked in, I was surprised to discover most area restaurants were only open for lunch. So we waited for the hotel restaurant and bar to open at 4pm to have a late lunch/dinner prior to the concert. We sat at the bar, which was full. The bartender was very nice and attentive. We ordered some food - I had the Grilled Romaine Salad with salmon, which came up to $27. My boyfriend had the Turkey BLT. Food was good. Typical for a hotel - expensive and not worth the money but it was satisfying. We had drinks prior to the concert as well. Our bill was around $95 before tip. In the morning, I enjoyed coffee in the room from the coffeemaker which was convenient. We had a quick checkout and the front desk was friendly. The $30 valet only parking is a little excessive but the attendants were quick & friendly. Would stay here again for another concert. read more

I used to love the double tree when I was younger it seemed like it was a top hotel in the city to go to at the time. The customer service and the rooms were top tier. Now don't get me wrong it's still not bad but I stood in line while they argued with someone else who was staying there for what had to be 20 minutes. Other workers walking past as if they couldn't try to help me. My shower was only halfway clean, which doesn't make me happy but in all honesty I clean hotel showers before I get in them anyway. read more

Service was good. The room was worn down. My upgraded room actually seemed lower quality than other more basic rooms, so I wish I wouldn't have been upgraded. Proximity to busy roads makes it a little less walkable and convenient compared to other downtown hotels. read more

This hotel was very run down and not well maintained. Wallpaper in my room was peeling off and the shower faucet dripped all night. Furniture looked like it was from 1985 with no upgrades since then. Pillow case and bed sheets had unidentified stains. Wait to check in was more than 20 minutes, with no plausible explanation as to why it would take that long. Definitely not worth the $300+ I was charged for room plus $39 for valet parking. read more

I booked a stay here for one night, as I had business in the area and this seemed to be centrally located to where I needed to meet, as well as decent restaurants and bars that I could walk to. When I arrived, there were no valet personnel in the garage and having never been here before, I didn't know exactly where to park my car in the garage to wait for them. I parked it and went into the office there and someone took my keys and phone number. They do have a text-based valet system, which is easy and convenient. Next, I headed to the lobby to check-in and the guy who checked me in didn't seem to have a very good attitude, he was a little curt and told me it didn't matter if I added my Hilton Honors number, since I used a 3rd party, but I'm still gold and I wanted that listed. No other description of the hotel, amenities, etc was given, just my key and I was off to my room. When I got into the room and a quick check of it (it wasn't very clean, with stains on the carpet and moldy caulk around the tub, etc) there was poop and used toilet paper in the toilet - GROSS! Made me feel like the rest of the room wasn't clean. Why was I given a room like this? I tried to flush the toilet and it didn't flush. I ended up holding the flushing handle to get it to go down. I had a quick business call to take and then a limited window of time for lunch and then another call, so I didn't complain about this, yet... But it was my plan. So, I ran out for lunch and came back to see my door open... I walked in and a maintenance guy was there fixing the toilet. I hadn't had a chance to advise that the toilet didn't work, so how did he know? I'm assuming housekeeping told him. So again, why was I given a defective room if others knew there were issues with it?? The maintenance guy left his plumbing snake sitting on the carpet while he worked on the toilet - So much for understanding cross-contamination! This REALLY grossed me out and I ended up using towels as floor covers on that area of the carpet. The TV worked well and the bed was comfy. I did try the hotel restaurant for breakfast the next morning and it was really good. Doubt I'd stay here again. read more

My granddaughter was transferred to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital and needed a place to stay the night with my son. The picture on the website must be from when they originally opened because this hotel is lacking in cleanliness. The rooms are dirty. The pool is gross, dirty bandaid all over, dirty towels overflowing on floor and this was first thing in the morning. Parking is valet parking only and only 1 vehicle per a room. We had 2 cars because I'm from Columbus and my son is from Youngstown and he had to find parking elsewhere. Valet and front desk staff was short and rude. Will not ever stay here again. Wish I took pic so you can see how dirty. read more

Had to fly to Pittsburgh urgently and was booked here by employer. Arrived very late on Friday night. Front desk supervisor checked me in. Process was quick. By it being a Doubletree, I remembered that they were known for their delicious chocolate chip cookies. I wasn't offered any??? Queen suite was spacious. Bathroom was tiny! It was a little claustrophobic actually. Never could connect to the complimentary internet. I had to use my phone's hotspot. On-site restaurant had limited hours and limited menu. Went Sunday morning and it was empty at 8:30. Coffee station at front of restaurant with complimentary coffee. And I overheard the same Front desk supervisor offer another guest chocolate chip cookies when checking in on Saturday night. Hmmm read more

To DoubleTree Management, I am a half full glass type of person. I am not one to be critical unless I'm forced to be. I survived a night at the DoubleTree in downtown Pittsburgh. Even before I stepped into the hotel there was a comedy of errors. Twenty minutes elapsed until I was able to drop off my car at the valet. Then with the elevators out of order it took me 15 minutes to arrive at the hotel lobby to register. The front desk staff member could not have been more pleasant. Once again, I had to wait a while for the elevator to arrive to take us to our room because of the elevator being out of service. The room itself was musty. The shades only closed 1/2 way down the window. The mattress was very old and soft. The shower did not work properly. The woodwork in the room was chipped and decaying. The fitness room cleanliness was alarming. Dead bugs filled the ceiling lights. The floor was messy. As a long time Hilton fan, I will be hard pressed to return to a Hilton Hotel. Our stay there was OK, but....... The price we paid was pretty good as it relates to Pittsburgh hotels. Some of them are getting really out of hand. We live in W PA but a bit of a drive from Pittsburgh. When we come to downtown for concerts and shows, we prefer to get a room for the night. Enjoy the show, have a drink or 2 after and just enjoy some leisure time. That was the plan for this trip. We went to a show at the Benedum, which was about a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel. It was a little confusing when we arrived. They say they have "valet parking". Well, sort of. My interpretation of valet parking is a pull up to the entrance, get my luggage, and a valet takes my vehicle somewhere and parks it. Not here. I had to drive around the block to the parking garage, that is where the "valet" was, inside the garage. Not a huge issue but for 36 bucks a night, i was a little annoyed. The hotels lobby area and restaurant and areas were very modern and trendy looking. Unfortunately, the rooms are not, they are a little old and tired. Our room had the smallest bathroom i have seen in a long time, i mean TINY. But it was clean enough, and it was only for one night. We decided to just have dinner there at the hotel before the show. We both got a burger, and it was good. Typical hotel type pricing. But it was a nice filling meal. After the show, we decided to just head back to the hotel (it was a little before 11) and have a few drinks before heading back to the room. At least, that was the plan. When we got to the hotel, a few minutes after 11, the bar, which is supposed to be open until 12, was CLOSED. Now, mind you, this was on a FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! What the hell? We asked why it was closed, and were told they weren't very busy so they closed up early. They weren't busy because people were at the SHOW! That was disappointing, and we really didn't feel like walking around to find a bar at that point. The next morning we got up early enough to go have breakfast at the restaurant. They have menus posted in all of the elevators, and their breakfast menu looked tasty. So we went to the restaurant, only to be told that all they have available was a "buffet" which cost $22/pp. The menu, which was posted in all the elevators, really wasn't available. Really? My wife and i are both light breakfast eaters, so there was no way we were going spend 50 bucks+ for a few waffles and maybe some scrambled eggs. So we went back to our room, had a cup of coffee, and checked out. We ended up having breakfast at eat n park. Bottom line. Double tree lost out on what we would have spent at the bar plus what we would have spent at breakfast. Plus those things just took some of the pleasure out of our stay. The staff there were all genuinely nice people. Every one was a pleasure to deal with. Not sure who is making the decisions about early bar closings and unavailable breakfast, but they may want to revisit those. In fact, i am unsure why the bar would close at 12. We have stayed several times at the Cambria by PPG paints, and their bar was 2 deep at 1 AM after a show at PPG. With the huge markup on alcohol, you would think they would want to take advantage. read more

Absolutely one of the worst Hilton stays I've ever had and you can't leave a review on their website, so that says alot. The shower in my room had a massive chip and the toilet seat was too small!! The food was absolutely the worst and one of colleagues got food poison. This stay absolutely ruined my trip to Pittsburgh. I'd avoid this place at all costs!! read more

Dates of stay: 11/26 - 11/30/21 Room #: 1622 There seemed to be slim pickings for decent hotels in Pittsburgh, which I thought was odd, given how large a city it is. This DoubleTree seemed to be the best option of all the Hilton branded hotels and it was really quite average. Pros: The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. The check-in and check-out experiences were great and while it took a few tries of calling the front desk to get through to schedule housekeeping, there were no issues there. The restaurant on-site was decent, again, the staff really made the difference. We ate there for both breakfast and dinner and had good food each time. Obviously the cookies have to go here as well, though they weren't warm like they are at other DoubleTree's. The gym was spacious, well-appointed, and in great shape. I appreciated having room for a strength workout as well as multiple treadmills, though a couple of them either need servicing or replacing, they are louder than a school bus! Cons: The bathroom was tiny. Why such a large room would have a closet of a bathroom is beyond me. The mirrored area with a counter outside the bathroom helped, but the design of the bathroom itself was quite abysmal, from the pedestal sink with a sloped surface (meaning you couldn't place anything on it without having it fall into the sink) to the toilet paper roll being literally as far away from the toilet as possible without being inside the shower. The bed was way too soft and the pullout couch mattress was as you might expect. It seemed like there should have been a table of some sort in the room, but there wasn't in the sitting area, so we opted not to have food brought in at all, as there wasn't anywhere to set it down besides the desk, in the corner by the bathroom, or the bureau that housed the TV and the fridge. Speaking of the fridge, it was dirty, which was one of the more disappointing things to see in the room. Should I find myself in Pittsburgh again, I'd try a different hotel that is more updated and better-designed. read more

I was on a tour and they booked this dump. There was two big dried spits on the door I showed the desk a picture and someone cleaned it off but that was it not the whole door. The beds were worn out with big lumps and saggy spots which kept me from sleeping. The rest of the room looked like a crackhouse. Paper pealing off the wall. Dirt and stains on the walls by vents. The bathroom mirror was replaced but did not fit the frame. The wall around and under the sink were tore off and crudely replaced with big gaps and not matched taped finished. I complained and was told by a female that they "could only remodel so many rooms a year ". We paid full price for skid row room and didn't even get a sorry. I arrived late around mid night, was assigned a room on the 4th floor which I thought would be ok a king sweet however it was right next to the HVAC motor which ran all night very loud. All I wanted was a hot shower after traveling all day, out of luck barely warm. The bar closed at 12 so I got one beer from front desk and popcorn. I understand it was Sunday night but just one beer in the front desk cooler.... Between the cold shower, loud room, and no cold beer I am not impressed! read more

Where do I start, I came to this hotel because of a BIS training, they used my credit card for expenses I didn't make, never apologized only said they were going to correct these and refund the money, still waiting, on top of that they gave us the noisiest room in the hotel and if you want water bottles, forge it, you'll have to pay for them. The worst experience so far and I'm dejected cause I was here for business and thought they oils take care of veterans and people in export control. read more

There was a RAT in my room. I was so freaked out that I ran downstairs and told the front desk. They gave me an attitude and said I could switch rooms. I told them if there's rats on the 19th floor they are everywhere. I ended leaving that night and had to pay an extra $300 to go to a Marriott. Disgusting!! read more

This was a decent hotel. The rooms were nice, restaurant just okay, The biggest disappointment was the staff. The front desk employees, all of them I encountered, were rude; not friendly at all. I also had issues with their Wi-Fi. Super slow and kept getting disconnected. This was a problem due to the amount of work I had to do. read more

So, I'd give this 1 star but the staff at this hotel were so wonderful. First, no parking. The hotel has a garage but they're limited on spots. When directed to check with the garage for availability (as in someone may have left their spot) the third party company who runs their company told us not to block their entrance. We drove around for 20" looking for available spots on the street. Be aware after evening on Saturdays, they will not ticket your car until Monday morning. The front desk was sympathetic and gave us a comp'd breakfast which was very kind. Second, my child caught my attention about a furry friend in the lobby. It was a rat. It went under one of the doors to the meeting room. Interesting. Third, there were used children's toys in our room that must've been a holdover from the last guest. And last, the sink is in the bathroom even though the counter and mirror is right outside it. It's an odd layout. Look, we were surprised about the parking as there isn't any other option at that location. It's an odd set up. Be prepared if you stay here. Oh, the second option given for parking is an underground garage in front that is limited to 6 foot vehicles. Our suv was too high for this garage. It wouldn't fit. read more

I just checked in the Hilton and I had the best customer service phenomenal young lady Crystal she's amazing since I am from LA she was letting me know of all of the venues how to get there she acts as if she's a personal family assistant I was out there for a conference that was the best conference ever l plan on staying there for the week and I'am really enjoying my stay with Crystal's personal assistance I wish she could come back to LA with me if you get a chance you have to visit the Hilton the room was very clean the service was pristine my room was perfectly clean I had a beautiful view the restaurant was great downstairs and I had breakfast in my room this morning thanks to the staff and especially a personal shout out to Crystal thank you Miss fabulous appreciate you read more

There is something odd about this place. It seems, damp. The room was nice - 1 bedroom suite. REALLY small bathroom and dated. Seemed like they updated some of the furniture but the layout was just weird. Just some open space - so good if you have a lot of stuff with you that you need in the room, but otherwise there is a bit of the wasted space. The sofa bed was in pretty good condition. Check in and check out are always quick and efficient. Rooms are always clean and smell fresh. Room service is always fast and reasonably priced. There's a restaurant inside the hotel and it gets ordered from there. WiFi can get a little clunky at times, but that's to be expected in any hotel I've ever stayed in. read more
