Great store, great food, great ambiance! But theres this man who only targets teenagers and gets mad for them for having fun. It's truly upsetting seeing them get targeted just for being kids. Do better! other than that, the service is great. read more

Went to the bakery counter to buy dessert and was totally ignored. Two staff members were having a conversation between themselves and laughing and a third looked at us and then turned away. We walked away and went to the cashier to pay for our other purchases and told her about the service and she was totally ambivalent. Quality Food has recently started to give "free kids lunch" coupons when you spend a lot, like 2-3 hundred ... I use to get these meals to go after a big shop, as I'm tired want to go home .. in the summer i may have frozen products, want to get home, put my purchases in freezer.. anyways they have stopped allowing people to get this "kids meal" to go .. I have an illness and need to monitor blood sugar and do medication before eating .. I was in town today and went in, I basically was refused by manager the use of my 4 coupons. I find this is discrimination against seniors and those of us with disabilities and on medication. Also i have caught wrong prices advertised different from till .. have to really watch this, they put the onus on the customer as I work there .. read more

Have always enjoyed the many breakfasts at Perk Ave. Restaurant at Quality Foods in Qualicum Beach. Recent change of staff has breakfasts being served fairly quickly now, however, could be served hot not luke warm. The hamburger and fries served there last night were terrible. Everything was served ice cold, hamburger and fries which were rock hard and which were had to throw away. Meal not worth the price we paid. Ordered this meal as a takeout at 3:45 pm. Is this also the way this hamburger meal was being served when not a takeout. No more hamburger meals for us at Perk Ave. restaurant. The prices of most goods at Quality Foods have been severely jacked up... so we now do some of our shopping at different stores. read more

96/100 Summer 2013 and their 31st anniversary. I love this friendly grocery store. I picked up on be of the gossip magazines and exclaimed how the pics were false and both cashiers chimed in how they could not agree more! HA! Every till had a cashier and every till had several customers. But everyone is on VACATION see, so everyone is super friendly. They still even employ baggers. I found some great all natural cranberry juice as well as some spicy dip, which was more the consistency of jam. P.S. There is a great home decor store upstairs with a little cafe. The name slips my memory now but it is nice and deserves its own review. read more

I've been shopping in this store for 4 years, 2-3 times a week, I know almost everyone who works there and get along with everyone great. Tonight I was taken down in a choke hold. Why? Because I called out a bunch of people who wouldn't wearing masks. They said they all had medical exemptions. I called for a manager and some "security guy" came and told me it was not my right, because I wasn't a police officer, in my community to call out people not wearing masks. Before I knew it, i was in a choke hold for "not being the police, it's none of your business." I was just trying to protect my community. No way 3 adults and 2 children had all had medical exemptions. Now I'm apparently banned, from calling people out. The police even sided with me. So everyone, apparently Quality Foods doesn't want you to look after your family, friends, or neighbours, or even the staff of the store. The two managers who eventually showed up were even laughing at me with the "security guard" as I laid immobile on the floor. Thanks for treating me this way. I never verbally or physically attacked anyone, I was quiet, then loud as nobody took my side for protecting our community. Thanks for embarrassing me, thanks for choking me for 10 minutes, thanks for ripping my clothing as I struggled to breathe, thanks for acknowledging what I did, I did to keep my town safe. I especially loved as I was in a choke hold, trying to breathe, to see these 5 people scurry out of the store wearing masks. So much for their exemptions. Thanks for banishment from the store I support more than any other. read more

Expensive, which they are, I can handle but most of their staff need to take service training. Bad attitudes which probably come from the fact that they can't afford to shop there so take it out on customers who can. Today, we bought $50 of salmon and the woman behind the fish counter treated us like we were taking up her time. The cashier flung the salmon pieces towards the bagger as though she was bowling. Given the number of grocery stores in Qualicum Beach (only this one) I guess they don't care because they have a captive market. My advice to tourists is to shop in Nanaimo (avoid QF Foods there-same company as this with same attitudes) and shop at any of the other 20 or so grocery stores where the staff are happy to help you. read more

A great grocery store in this small town. Tons of produce, and even generous section of drug store-type items (toiletries, soaps, etc). The cashier are also very friendly and helpful when we've visited. The best part of this store is the coffee section upstairs which has kitchen items and so forth. Love having coffee upstairs while looking out over the store. Pretty nice layout. read more

This is a fantastic store. We shop here every week as well as Thriftys in Parskville. The cheese selection in this store is fantastic, and the cheese has good turn over so it is always fresh. The seafood counter is great too and Margaret behind the fish counter knows her fish and and can slice it within a couple of grams of what you wish for. For a small town they have a great selection of produce and it is easy to create an exotic meal because they do carry a good range of produce and fruit. The store upstairs is lovely too and it is really nice to be able to enjoy a drink or a bowl of soup up there. The staff is friendly here and if you do encounter a staff member that is not pleasant they are either having a really off day or it is you! This store is far the best of all the Quality Food stores. read more

Never really shopped here for the groceries, but always come back for the restaurant. Portions are large and usually always fresh.

My husband and I are frequent 'shoppers' at Qualicum Foods. We only occasionally shop anywhere else for groceries. Recently we have been able to shop due to surgery that made it impossible to get to the store. This was from mid-October until January. We joined the home delivery system that Qualicum Foods offers. Remember this was over Christmas and New Years shopping. It was perfect...all of my orders were perfectly chosen ... I spoke with the same person weekly, and if I didn't call she called me. I cannot thank them enough for this wonderful service. We are back to going to the store. It certainly is the best for everything you need to eat and other needs. read more

A very comfortable grocery place that's conveniently near our hotel (Qualicum Inn) and has all of the necessities. It's a very good grocery store, there's some mess-ups in the checkout line but they're sorted out really quickly and the cashiers are nice people. If you want a smaller grocery store that's easy to make your way around and you're in the area, I totally recommend this one over others. Upstairs there's a coffee joint which is really convenient. I love this grocery store and I wish it was near my own home. read more

Not sure why Brian S was so negative about Qualicum Foods. My husband and I have shopped there regularly for 3 1/2 years and it is a great place with wonderful staff. If you live here you will find Manager's specials that are good value and using the Q. F. card reduces the price of one item each day (up to 4 of that item). Also no fuel needed to travel to Nanaimo...I'm not sure why anyone would go that far for their food when there is such a good store in town. Also helping the local economy by shopping here. The store also willingly gives to causes. read more
