In recent year the aged woman who runs the place has been accusing us of "stealing Ice" and has raised the price every year. In July 2023 she raised it to $150, and told us the commercial fishermen were complaining because they used their own totes???? She also insisted on cash payment, which we suspect went directly into her own pocket. Beware the Ice Nazi of French Creek! We, nor our fellow fishermen, will ever again stop there.

Bought 2 dozens oysters - smaller ones supposedly from Denman Island. I think there were a total…read moreof may be 4 dozens in the fridge. There are no other variety available (in the raw consumption category - there were 2 larger oysters left in the next tray but they are labeled as not suitable for raw consumption). Started off a little odd with self serve ice when we asked for ice - I paid and the sales person forgot about our request and when I asked for the ice again after payment, he said "the ice is outside". So we had to get it ourselves - which is fine - BUT the ice is in a giant tub outside of which the tub sort of sits in front of the entrance. So we left with a bit of an odd experience? Anyway, after we arrived home about 6-7 hours later, we discovered that 4 of the oysters were open / dead already - and one of the oyster is just shell and no meat! So effectively we got 23 oysters instead of 24. In the end, of the questionable ones, they don't smell fresh so we had to discard one more. So we ended up with 22. On the remaining 22 oysters, may be half tasted fresh. Will let you be the judge with the attached picture of all 24 of them.

I started with the flavorful lemon merengue martini. Yum! The wine selection was pleasing, and we able to order both a chardonnay and a cabernet. My husband had the potato leek soup and I enjoyed the stuffed mushroom caps as our appetizers. They were both delicious! For dinner, he had the special of the day - stuffed chicken with Mashed potatoes and vegetables. The chicken was perfection and the mashed potatoes were incredible. I had the seafood crepe with garlic bread and vegetables. I'm so glad I tried this! It was rich and savory, without feeling too heavy. To finish things off, we shared the sticky date cake - a dessert that is a must-try. It's clear that they take great pride in their food, beverages and service.
