I called multiple times and I never talked to a person. The call would go to voicemail. I left messages and I never got a call back. I was about to give up, and call a different contractor when I went to check their website. On their contact page they have a form to send an email. So I decided to send them an email. It was a Friday. On Tuesday morning the following week I got an email "Hi, I can send him out Thursday 8/24 between 2-3. Please confirm if this works for you." I replied Tuesday night "Yes, that works." I didn't get a call or a confirmation email, but since they were so unresponsive I assumed we were set. I asked for the day off to be at home to wait for them. They didn't show!!! I called, and again to voicemail. What a frigging nightmare!!! I am done with them...I tried hard because 2 years ago they did a good job. I wanted to give them repeat business. I don't know what happened, but clearly they are terrible now. read more

These guys were flexible with scheduling time to give us a quote. They provided us with options and the difference prices. We went with them as they had the best price and were very professional in their communication. The work was completed very timely and the fence overall looks great. Only thing was, the fence was finished from my neighbor's side and a lot of the staples are poking through at the bottom. I have a small dog and young kids so need this fixed.. and it should be a simple fix but I still haven't heard back from them. I'd definitely update this review of they get back to me. Edit: Took a while but they did come back to fix this. The wood is starting to have spaces due to the wood drying but overall still looks good. read more

In short, there is no quality at Quality Fence. They are highly disorganized even for a mom & pop operation. Can't locate their own bids. I had to send them the bids. I got two bids for different parts of the fence (adding up to $11,000). When I scheduled the project, I was clear that it's the sum of the bids that needs to be done. The coordinator mistakes it to be just the last bid. I correct her error. Then literally hours before a 2-person crew was to start, she consolidates the bids into one for the purposes of the crew. Copies the fence height wrong for a 47ft section -- 6ft instead of 7ft. Crew runs with it. When we discover the error, she claims that I changed the fence height in a phone conversation and blames me for her error!! (Even though my neighbor and I were being nice in telling them that instead of rebuilding the entire section of 4 panels, they could rebuild the two panels where privacy was an issue.) The crew -- one guy who builds the fence and another guy who takes down the old fence & digs holes for the posts etc -- didn't do quality work either. Nails sticking out, gaps between boards, untreated wood used in contact with soil, nails left everywhere etc. There was no QA/oversight on what the crew did. It's up to the customer to be vigilant and catch their errors. If you have already made the (unwise, in my opinion) decision of going with them, please do the following to protect yourself: 1) Keep all of your communication in emails and texts so you have a record. 2) Insist on getting a copy of the work order the crew is going to get -- at least two days in advance so that you can catch their errors. (Once the crew starts, they don't care about what the customer might tell them. They are strictly going by the sheet of paper given to them.) 3) Don't give them a large project in one go. Do one part first so that you get to see their work first hand. And, believe me, there are really no economies of scale in what they do. 4) Be diligent in inspecting their work end of each day. 5) Expect a fair amount of frustration. read more

We were very picky and Quality Fence did everything just as we asked them to they brought the best type of wood we ask for the con heart which was the better Redwood and they did everything perfectly we had the whole fence done and they were very nice considerate and I will definitely use them for every fencing that I need so if anyone needs these guys please call them because they are very good the there in Fremont-Don't know their phone #. We requested a quote from Quality Fence back in August. They came took the measurement and provided the quote on the same day. We also did a second quote with another fence company, which came up to be about the same price. One of the neighbor mentioned that one of the lumber yards recommended them so we decide to go with Quality Fence. The job consisted of (1) 69' section, (1) 49' section, and a 6' section (with a gate) board on board. The job took about 2 days...first day was removing the old fence and putting up the post. The 2nd day was the fence boards and the gate. The quality of the work was great and the site was cleared. I would definitely recommend this fence company to my friends and neighbors. I got four estimates for a small fence and gate project at my house and selected Quality Fence because they had the best combination of promptness, knowledge, understanding and price, or so it seemed. While the owner, Steve, jotted down my general requirements, detailed specifics were not. However he assured me his crew would be flexible with providing me the types of locks, and the cutting of the fence to provide a simple sweeping curve, that I desired. When the crew showed up, they seemed to be unprepared or initially unwilling to make the simple modifications, and they only brought one single $3.98-type latch for the gate that opened with a string (I'd asked for some front and back locking mechanisms). Worse, the spokesman's Hispanic-English was such that we weren't able to communicate properly. Further, it appeared as if they were trying to have me "settle" for a type of fence construction that wasn't ideal -- regrettably with the language barrier it was just too difficult to tell. Obviously since it didn't look as if they could give me what I wanted due both to some material inflexibility and ability to communicate, I felt entirely uncomfortable with them doing the job. Desiring to work things out I asked them to wait while I called the shop so I could voice my concerns. Although earlier, Vickie had promptly called me back when I left a message that the crew was almost an hour late, this courtesy was not again returned when I left the message that I was having some on-site problems. Because of all this I was compelled to dismiss the crew and hired my second choice independent contractor. BTW, I never did receive a call back which leads me to believe the company is not interested in improving things for future customers and hence their business. I'm sorry to write a negative review but I felt it important to at least caution others that no matter if by Quality Fence or any other firm, they should ensure that the project is completely understood and clearly transmitted by the estimator to the crews because the crews could -- as was in my case -- merely arrive on-site with tunnel vision to do the job based on a brief, 10-minute estimation. read more

Brought them in to replace one side of our fence a few weeks ago. They did a reasonably decent job - but left a few slats loose. I ended up fixing it when I got back home. Not a big deal. A few days later I try to reach them to bring them back for the other side of my fence (second neighbor). Left them 4 voice-mails over a period of 2 weeks and a handful more of calls that went unanswered. No one calls back. Finally, on my 5th attempt, someone (Tim?) picks up. I inform Tim that my calls have gone unanswered and am wondering if they are accepting new business/projects. He says I am rude (excuse me?) and that he is very busy and that they have been in business for 21 years. No apologies for not returning calls, no interest in getting feedback on the job completed. They just lost a customer, a potential repeat customer and reference. My advice - "Unless you have no other options - take your business elsewhere! Rude customer service and unresponsiveness is not the hallmark for sustainable businesses" read more

SUMMARY: Quality Fence did a FANTASTIC job on my new fence and I couldn't be happier! I worked mainly with Vicki (office) and Seraphin (foreman?) and both were great throughout the whole process. WONDERFUL customer satisfaction and professionals throughout the entire process. STORY: I needed all 3 fences around my house completely replaced. I went about getting bids and ended up doing 5 separate bids. Of these bids, 3 of them were from actual, professional companies. The other two were the old classic "I know a guy". I ended up picking Quality for the following reasons: (1) They are an actual FENCING COMPANY. Everybody has a friend who "Knows a guy" who does fencing. The problem is, if something goes wrong or you are unhappy with the work, you have little recourse and are at their mercy if they want to fix the problem or not. (2) Quality offers a 5 year warranty. Although I've seen a 10 year for fencing, there are many companies without any warranty. So this was acceptable. (3) I asked for sample job sites - I wanted a couple of local jobs they had done so I could check out their craftsmanship on my own. They gave me locations close to my house and I went to take a look. Overall, they were good, solid fences that looked nice. I had one issue I didn't like, which was that the concrete was kind of sloppy around the posts. It basically was a rather large mound around the post, going 5-6 inches up the post. It looked like a giant anthill. I spoke to Vicki and she pointed out that this was sometimes requested by the home owner but that they'd make sure it looked nice for ours. In reality, the sample fence was under a hedge and on a hill, so it was probably done for stability and aesthetics weren't as important. [More on this later] TIP: Make sure to ask for sample fences - They're outdoors and don't disturb the home owners, so don't be shy to do this. A good company has nothing to hide. (4) They were the cheapest of the professional bids I received. - Notice I put this last. The "cheapest" isn't always the best. After all these other conditions were met, I considered the pricing. THE JOB: The morning of the installation, the guys showed up on time ready to work. And work they did. They were very efficient and wasted little time. No issues with any laziness or slow work here....these guys mean business. They cleared out the old fence and even cleared a lot of brush and weeds that were in the way. Since my fence was literally on the ground, I hadn't kept up with my gardening very well =\ That first day, they got 2 of the three fences up with posts and the panels around 1/2 the way. They were 90% done by the end of the second day and needed to come back the third day to finish the gates and install the locks (I went with a bolt system that requires more work). ISSUES, RESOLUTION, and SATISFACTION: Two issues came up during the job and Quality addressed them quickly, without hesitation, and professionally. (1) A retainer wall needed to be built because the previous "system" of retention were 50 year old railroad ties that were rotted and falling apart. The bid I received accounted for PART of this but whoever did the bid didn't realize how extensive a job it was going to be. I spoke to the guy working and he said I needed to speak to the office. Vicki told me it would cost more (less than $200) initially, but the next morning told me they had decided not to charge me since the mistake was during the bid. MAJOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION POINTS AWARDED (2) Remember that concrete around the post issue.... I spoke to Vicki ahead of time about my concerns. She emailed me to tell me that she'd inform the workers. Somewhere in there, the message wasn't understood. They had domed the concrete up around the posts on one side of the house and it was running out onto the sidewalk. My wife was there (and knows I'm picky), so she said something to them. They said it was to make sure water doesn't pool around the post. Makes sense....but looks like crap on my sidewalk. To their credit, on the OTHER side (they hadn't done it yet), they made it look better. When I got home, I REALLY tried to ignore it.....but couldn't. Especially since I had voiced concerned ahead of time. So I emailed Vicki. To their credit, they fixed it the next day without question and it looks great now. Again, SATISFACTION to have my concerns immediately addressed and fixed. So thanks Quality Fence, you guys did a great job. Definitely recommend them! read more

On 09/20, we hired Quality Fence to build a 20 ft. of 6 ft. tall Redwood board on board corner fence. We found them in the Yellow Pages. They were featured on Extreme Makeover Home Edition and member of BBB. Johnathan Franco was our estimator. He was very efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. He was the only estimator that uses the laser tape to give me the most accurate reading. Quality Fence charged me $24/foot, which is the standard price. They also fixed my gate for free! They replaced the hinges and screws on the gate. He did not ask me for a deposit and told me to write out a cheque for the whole amount when the work is done. The next day, a team of 3 workers arrived in the morning. It took them about 4 hours to finish the job. They did a good clean up job and the fence looks great. We recently had a section of mutual fence blown down by high winds. Our neighbor obtained a quote from Quality Fence. The price seemed reasonable and we agreed to start the project. They sent out two employees to do the job. The employees did a great job in a short amount of time. The quality of work and lumber used was really good. They did not require a deposit prior to starting the project and only asked for a check once it was done! We were so impressed by the quality of work and materials used that I called Quality Fence for a quote on the reminder of our fence line. Steve came out and took some measurements and provided the quote on the same day. A good part of our fence line goes up the side of, and across, a hill (no easy job for anyone!). Once given the green light, Quality Fence sent out two guys to start the job. At one point there was a team of five working on site. Like before, the guys did a great job, used quality materials, and actually completed the project ahead of schedule! They removed the old lumber and did a great clean up job. Showed up 10 min. later but drove off with a follow up phone call that he had forgotten his clipboard. Said he would return, which he did, about 15 min. later. Took measurements but he was unable to give me a written bid because he forgot his pen......WHAT??? He said he would Email a written bid within 20min. Avoid at all costs. They use sub par materials - within two weeks of having one of two gates installed one started warp. Guy came out to look at it, then said they would fix it. The owner came by (never knocked on our door or anything, just came by) and told the guy to stop it would take too much time and material to fix it and we'd have to live with it. Never heard back from them despite several calls to the office about that. Oh, and both gates will open at the slightest breeze if not locked. But wait, there is more, we went in with several neighbors on this job (my neighbor's gate opens at the merest disturbance too) and the owner asked us to pay for their shares as well and then we could get the money form our neighbors. This after we were told we'd get separate bills. But it gets even better, the same guy asked our two other neighbors to do the same thing - what was he planning on doing - getting paid three times for the same amount of work. We are already saving up for a new fence since this will will either rot, warp, decay or blow down within a couple of years. I hope a sparrow or a jay does not land on the fence. I would hate for the poor little birdie to get hurt when it collapsed under its weight. read more

My name is Cindy and I have to say that the service I received was so BAD that I went out of my way to write this review so that no one else has to endure what I did. First of all they didn't show up twice and only after I spoke with the manager did they show up the third time. The price they gave me was pretty reasonable but I now understand why. You get what you pay for I guess. I had about 97 feet of fence done (Board on Board, Redwood) They took three days instead of the one and a half day they promised. They left a mess after they were done and refused to come back to clean up the left over wood they had left, the biggest problem was the huge gaps in the fence. There were 7 significant gaps, that again, they refused to fix. I had another company come in and give me a quote to fix them and they couldn't believe that this company had done such a horrible job and then refused to fix it. I now have to pay $467.99 to fix the gaps that Quality Fence left. I have never dealt with a company like this and now in a legal battle with them to just get reimbursed. This is one of the biggest ordeals that I have had to go through with a company for service and pray to God that I never have to encounter one again.
