It started with the area's (Whitehall) straight line winds of June '24. We were so lucky here…read morecause we had minimal gutter damage but my neighbors on both sides had extensive house damage when large oak trees had crashed through their roofs and south down Mears it was just devastating. Called Shepherd Shoreline and Jaylyn (sp?) and Adam replaced gutters and downspouts and did a beautiful job. The gutters work so well (old ones had leaked in spots) and made this old house look incredible and they took all the old parts away. So called em again when the old, heavy, wooden garage door got to be almost impossible for me to open and I know they were still busy repairing and replacing wind damaged homes but they came out and put in a new door that looks clean and neat and opens at the touch of a button every time. Plus Tony and Garrett (sp?) took all the old nasty parts away and cleaned up the joint. Twice when we called them we were told they'd get back to us that day and we never heard back...that day or ever after.   I'd have understood if they never intended to do anything until after the holidays, but wish they had just said so from the start, instead of lying and repeatedly ghosting us.

She fell for the old marketing scam of just calling the first alphabetical company in the phone book. This wasn't the first time, the year prior the other spring broke and I bought them in a pair to replace it. They came in to review the situation, ignored the 2nd spring hanging there, waiting replacement, and told her the only possible thing to do was replace the entire door. She authorized them to do so. They came, did the work, and when they needed some shims, their worker went over to my furniture and cabinet making materials and helped themselves to the premium Birch Ply to chop up into pieces. To top it off, they left the replacement spring hanging from the new rail. Needless to say I was very upset when I came home and can only recommend that no one ever trust them again as she is far too timid to do anything about this.

I asked if she didn't want to send an estimator out, because all these questions etc. she said the like all this info before sending someone out. The whole purpose of calling them was to make sure I was getting what I needed not being mechanically inclined. None of the other contractors wanted/needed this information before sending out someone.

I had four or five companies email me back to get some information for the job. Rick at Affordable was the only one that keep in touch with me, and worked with me, knowing this is not a good time of year to be spending money on garage doors. I sent him pictures so he knew what he was looking at before he even came out, gave me a very far estimate. He managed to fit me in within a couple of days, did a great job, and the door is working better than it has in the five years I've lived in the house, and has a year guarantee. Was a very happy camper. Fast forward just a little more than two weeks, doing yard work, couldn't get my door to shut. Rick had said any problems to call, so I gave him a call. He came out that same day, sad to say, it wasn't anything to do with the work they had just done for me. My door opener itself, jammed and needed replacing. Rick did see that the opener had been installed in 1993, said it lasted about 10 years longer than he would have thought. He was wonderful again, checked to see if they had an opener in stock, said he would have and could put it in two days. I understood this had nothing to do with his work, and he understood it still isn't a good time to be putting $ out right now. He worked with me, and I couldn't be happier.
