Can't complain about the staff or the dentist... but this insurance thing has got to be fixed! I give ideas below.--------- Let's discuss dental insurance and how it works. When I learn, I share the knowledge. For my recent dental work involving four crowns with an out-of-pocket cost of $8,000, Delta Dental and MetLife collectively paid out only $1,000. Upon reviewing my policy and consulting with Delta Dental, I discovered that their payout structure is based on the amount I've paid into the system, essentially functioning like a savings program. Furthermore, due to having a bridge installed four years ago, I was informed by the insurance company that Delta and MetLife won't cover any work in the same tooth area for five years. It's crucial to thoroughly examine your insurance policy, considering deductibles and previous dental work within specific timeframes, as this significantly impacts your coverage. Perhaps considering an alternative approach, like a personal savings plan for dental expenses, might be more beneficial. Delta made 9 billion in revenue 2024.

I was having a lot of nasal issues and my general dentist did a 3-D x-ray and we found that both…read moreof my nasal passages were full of infection so I was recommended to an endodontist to which was found out that I had three infected upper molars and I would need to pay $6000 for a root canal on each of the three molars so I opted to have oral surgery and have the three upper molars extracted so my regular dentist referred me to Dr. Ryan Dobbs. Dr. Dobbs has a bit of a dry personality, but his staff was fantastic. When I called to schedule the consult, they got me in right away and anesthetized oral surgery was scheduled for the following week at my convenience. Day of surgery I was incredibly nervous because I don't trust Doctors or Dentists but Dr. Dobbs nurse, Jarra was absolutely fantastic and put me at ease! I was anesthetized and upon waking up and up until full healing after having three upper molars pulled, I never had any pain, zero issues! I highly recommend Dr. Dobbs and his staff for your dentistry needs!

My original dentist (Jack Nguyen, formerly of Awesome Dental) had agreed to pay for the consult, but then he vanished. Instead of resolving this professionally, Dr. Ricketts' office came after me with an outrageously overpriced bill and proceeded to hound me for five years. Even after payment was made (by me, not by Nguyen), they continued to threaten collections until today, when they finally admitted the bill was paid. Incompetent, unethical, and utterly unprofessional. If you value transparency, fair billing, and basic respect, steer clear of this clinic. EDIT: Your response does not reflect my experience. To be clear: I never received any treatment from your office, only a consultation that another dentist had agreed to cover. When he reneged, your office pursued me relentlessly for five years over that bill, even after payment was made. Most recently, you threatened to rescind a fee reduction if I didn't remove this review. That isn't a "communication breakdown." That's harassment and unethical billing.

I felt pressured into the procedure, and the crown was poorly done in both fit and color. Another dentist has since told me it needs to be replaced, which says it all. I'm extremely frustrated by this entire experience, from being coerced into unnecessary work to the poor quality of care, and now being blindsided by a collections bill years later. I was quoted a price and told the rest was covered by insurance. I certainly don't recommend this underhanded clinic.

I would like to mention that he takes extremely good care of his mouth - flosses, never misses a cleaning, etc. He didn't think the procedure would be fully covered by his insurance - they only cover half a mouth at a time for that kind of cleaning, which is what he told them. Well the hygienist went and talked to their billing person, who insisted that his insurance would cover his whole mouth. They said they had called his insurance, were absolutely sure and again, convinced him to do it. They even gave him a written estimate of around $100 of out of pocket expenses. So, now they are presenting him with a huge bill that insurance won't cover and they are unwilling to help him at all. He's on disability with limited income so this is extremely bad and I feel terrible for having recommended them. It was literally a cleaning, with no special crowns or anything fancy like that and he is being asked to pay in the neighborhood of over $1000. I will likely have to find another dentist because of the way they've treated him. So, if you're not concerned about maybe receiving a huge surprise bill after your visit, with absolutely no accountability or help from the people who gave you the bad information, go ahead and go there. It's shocking, because they should and can come down on the bill since this totally their fault, but they really don't care.

I was able to quickly get into see him for a second opinion, and his office staff is very friendly. He gave me a very candid and honest second opinion, so I scheduled treatment with him, and the procedure went smoothly. He made sure I was comfortable before and during the procedure, and I surprisingly didn't feel a thing while he was working on my gums.
