This sprawling park has paved trails with inner and outer loops spanning about three miles, plus loads of other amenities, including tennis courts, volleyball nets, a catch-and-release fishing pond, gazebos, and the well-crafted Eureka playground. There were already dozens of joggers, dog walkers, and parents with toddlers out and about at South Lakes by late Saturday morning in January, when the temperature had just nudged up to 50 degrees. Its convenient and safe, and I plan to be back often.

Great neighborhood park!…read more There are paved walking paths that lead wound the park and end into the neighborhoods. There is even a beautiful metal and wood bridge that crosses the creek. The playground is small but kept neat. They replaced the wood chips with AstroTurf to give the park a modern look. The equipment is great for little kids. There's a basketball court for the older kids and there's a gazebo with tables so you can take a rest from all the fun. Even grills if you want to have a cookout. There are tables and trash cans placed around the park so you can have your own celebration. The park is usually quiet during the week. On weekends there are events like soccer games or workout sessions. The walking paths in the park are lit at night with lamp posts but there were less lights as you get closer to the neighborhoods. So I would bring a flashlight if you fancy a night stroll. Overall, a great little park!

The park has water features (splash pad) and a playground for the kids to play. There are multiples chairs that are bolted to the ground, picnic tables, a pavilion, and plenty of parking. There is a nice public restroom and a nice field where kids can play catch or run around. We came around 6pm on a Friday and it wasn't too crowded. Can't wait to get back here before the summer ends!!

Which is totally understandble! It's a family friendly park, but it was definitely a lot lol We brought our dogs here, and we had a blast though. All the dog owners there were friendly and respectful of having to be in leash. Like I said, nice little off leash trails if you want a cute adventure and then about a mile long paved road if you wanna stick to just something short and simple. I recommended it if you are comfortable with lots of families with children :)

Let me start off by saying these are the most pristine, high-end athletic fields I've ever seen at…read morea community park. Even the bleachers were fancy. How very Southlake! If I were rating this based on the ball fields, it would more than likely be five stars. But, being a mom of kids not yet in sports, I came for the playground, and that is how I'll rate the park. It's an okay playground. A little small. It was big enough for my 5 kids because they were the only ones there, but I imagine on a day where sports are going on at the fields, the playground would quickly become uncomfortably crowded. My kids loved the woodsy theme - log slides, large mushrooms to climb on, doors in trees - and it was fun to watch their imaginations run wild. It's a great start for pretend play. Unfortunately, the playground has NO SHADE. No shade over the play structure, no shade over the benches. With the Texas sun and a metal slide, this is not a good combination! I'm no arborist, so I couldn't tell you if the small trees around the perimeter of the playground will one day be huge shade trees or not, but I'd venture to guess my kids will be long grown before that happens. There is a shaded seating area outside of the playground where parents of older kids could sit, but it's a little too far away for most to feel comfortable leaving a toddler, I would think. The bathrooms are clean and nicer than what the typical park has to offer. All in all, North Park doesn't stand out against the other playgrounds in the area. Bicentennial Park is just around the corner and is a much better destination for kids to burn energy and moms to catch a break.

They're planning on renovating the park soon, so I can't wait to see what they do to it. I do think that's the one thing they're missing, is more to do at the park. It'd be nice if we got a pickleball court, or a playground or something to entertain yourself while you're there. I think it'd attract more people for sure.
