As i've been told to introduce some gluten into my diet, I thought there would be no better choice or time to pick up a Subway sandwich while at this branch of motorway services, which surprisingly doesn't have a Mcdonald's in the Westbound or Eastbound . I also decided to visit here as i did have a voucher on my subcard to get the sandwich for free of 6" size, with motorway services normally costing more, I thought it would be best to use it here while also considering limited other places to go, in the Eastbound the only other places to go for something to eat was an overpriced Burger King, there were options available for non-hot food at newsagents such as WHSmith.
The service was really bad, they didn't control the queue and they seemed really slow, there was a family in-front with kids who were playing around and being highly inappropriate, crawling on the floor and moving around, which was awful and made me feel really uncomfortable, the staff members saw this and ignored this and they continued to move really slowly, I even considered going elsewhere as it took so long to even be acknowledged, especially being in a rush. Fast service must be a must at a Motorway Service Station mainly due to people travelling using it, and of course having to get to the KCOM Stadium in enough time to catch the match, I didn't want to wait too long and I would have had to wait if it took any longer.
I did order a Seasonal Sandwich which came with Cheese, Turkey, Sausage and a few other things, I ordered the salad recommended by the Sandwich Artist, who seemed slightly more friendly after he began to serve me, while still offering no apology for the previous family before me who were queuing up and ordering, and the long wait, this was a shame.
The sandwich I ordered was quite nice and it was a decent cut as well and was probably the longer 6" rather than the smaller ones, as Subway have the tendency to cut one slightly longer, and one slightly shorter so its the luck of a draw in a way in what you're going to get.
The whole stand seemed quite small and it was a shared seating area with Starbucks and the rest of the motorway services so I presume it is an area used by Burger King as well, overall this place might not have much competition but the service in general was awful, the food quality was pretty average and it did seem slightly pricey with it being a motorway services, although not on the levels of Burger King who were much more pricier.
UPDATE: Due to the handling of my complaint which went ongoing for over 2 weeks, i felt quite upset with how I was treated from the Store Manager and Head Office, I received no response for over 2 weeks and when I did, I was told they wouldn't be sending me anymore emails as the manager had already contacted me three times, which was a lie as I hadn't received any prior communication to him, in my opinion this deserves a downgrade to one star but as this situation is still ongoing, I hope this can change and earn an upgrade for this branch of Subway again in the near future.
