I came in on 11/10 to get a body wave and a cut to prepare for two upcoming out-of-state events. Unfortunately, the body wave didn't take (not left in long enough) and my hair wasn't cut to the style agreed upon. Today, I look the same as I did on 11/10, minus a half inch of hair! $240 dollars later including tip (minus the Yelp $50 coupon) I am very disappointed. Since I am leaving to go away for the holiday, I did not have time to get the problem "fixed" and rather than apologize, I was told by management that it's my own fault for not coming back into the salon before my trip. I've made an appointment to get my hair cut correctly at my destination. My disappointment is more that it wasn't done correctly the first time, that I must spend more money and time to have it done right, and rather than offering me a partial refund, or a sincere apology, it was made to look as if I was at fault for not coming back to the salon, and therefore, I didn't have a legitimate complaint. I did my research before booking this appointment, believing the high price for a cut guaranteed talent and know-how. That just wasn't the case here. Very disappointed. Love this place. I've followed my hairdresser, Rees, to a few different locations and he happens to currently be here. This place has a fun and energetic ambiance. The receptionist, Jason, is amazing and so friendly. The location is great and it's always easy to park. Depending on your hairdresser, prices vary. It can be a little bit pricey but for the quality you get, to me it's worth it the money to walk out feeling like a model time and time again. The best part is this is a small salon so everyone takes time to get to know you. The customer service is intimate and personable, unlike some of the larger chains. That being said, book in advance as they get full quickly and consistently. read more

Rees was AMAZING! I moved here to Houston 5 years ago and have gone to 6 different stylists.. each time more disappointed than the previous... this was my last and only chance left. Rees blew me out of the water. I showed him a picture(honestly now it's become a slideshow of just normal hair........) but I showed him FIRST what I was looking for. I didn't expect it to come true. I was in tears when I saw my hair. I couldn't believe it. He recreated what I actually wanted... I couldn't comprehend! He is hilarious, outgoing, and extremely talented to say the LEAST. He's my go to until I have gray hair... then he'll have to prove it all over again ;) thanks Rees. To me, that was a miracle. You saved my life! read more

First time here. I had highlights and a hair cut and style. Showed a picture of how I had it the last time. I specifically said I did not it want it really short and to reshape it like the photo. Instead she totally cut all off what I had grown out for 4 months so I could have it reshaped. I met a friend for dinner afterwards and she said WOW that's the shortest I've ever seen your hair!! I will never go back!!!!! To your comment. I came to the Q salon because of the good reviews online. I told her twice I did not want it short and look butch. After she asked how I liked it after it was done, I told her I liked the color, but my hair was pretty short after her cut. The photo I showed her had my hair going longer behind the ear and to bring the back up a little to reshape it, but all that I let grow out is all cut off now. Also, the back is so short I can no longer grab it and ring out the water after a shower and looks like the back of a mans haircut. I always give a tip regardless, because she spent over two hours on my hair and felt she should get more than just salary. To me this is just paying someone for their time. I just happened to google "best hair salons in Houston" and came across a top 10 list with Q [the salon] on it. When I saw all the great reviews on yelp, including a not so great review that had an example of GREAT customer service in the comments, I made an appointment. Going in, I had previously received a pretty crappy haircut somewhere else, so they had their work cut out for them to fix the mess. On the phone making the appointment, moving the appointment, and running a little late that day, Jason, the receptionist, was more than patient with me. He greeted me with a smile and by name which made me feel exceptionally welcome. My appointment was with Rees-- he was friendly and easy to talk to, which made me instantly trust him. Rightly so, because Rees has his craft perfected. He knew exactly what to do, with little guidance from me, to make me look great. As a team, the staff was super efficient. I have a lot of hair, so the balayage took some time, but just the right amount. I've been to salons where I sat all day while they did other stuff in between steps, but that didn't happen here. Final Result: The color was absolutely beautiful and the cut totally corrected the mess I came in with. I left there with a smile on my face and feeling like a million bucks! I couldn't speak more highly of my experience and I will definitely be back!! read more

I was referred to Alyssa at The Q Salon almost a year ago, in the middle of a hair disaster she came to the rescue! So here's my story ... I worked on growing my golden blond hair out for the past 3 years and I really wanted balayage . I brought in 3 pictures and in three hours all of my hair was WHITE with dark brown roots. Over processed without any contrast through out. Not the balayage pictures we were trying to achieve. With in two days I went to a different salon/stylist to help correct... Disaster!! I got a few low lights and ASH color put on as a toner (eye roll) If you are a golden blonde you know ash isn't your color... So now my hair looks green. I went home and washed it over and over hoping it would wash out. It didn't, I went about a week and couldn't take it.. Made my appointment with Alyssa, from the moment I walked in we just clicked. Not only did she fix the color to perfect, she has saved my triple processed mess. I have NOT had one disappointment ever with the out come of my hair with Alyssa, perfect every time!! I'm new to Houston and I have very chemically cut/damaged blonde hair. I haven't touched it in 6months to help it heal. Because my hair is difficult to deal with I was nervous in my quest to find a new stylist. I did my research and Q [the salon] was an amazing choice. I have never felt so comfortable in a salon in my life- and I am a hair junky- tons of products/extensions and I've tried many salons including super high/lower end- within 5 different states. This salon is quaint, it's not overwhelming, it's not pretentious but it's filled to the brim with talent. On Jason: If you call the salon/come into the salon he is your first interaction. Jason is amazing. He is super sweet and knowledgable and is able to quickly build rapport with clients. Jason obviously wants you to come back; he makes this clear with both his behavior and the way he speaks to clients both in person and on the phone. My appointment was fantastic- but if it wasn't, I would feel comfortable speaking to Jason about any negative experience. I called other salons with my inquiry for getting my hair done, the receptionists had a lack of knowledge and were simply not kind. If you are unsure about this salon... just call... just talk to Jason and see how you feel. Just go in for a free consultation, then judge. They will not let you down. On Rees: I am sooooo lucky I went to Rees.... GO TO HIM- he is worth EVERY penny! He had absolutely no problem dealing with my sad hair, so many other stylist have been unable to deal with it. He gave me the most perfect natural shade of golden blonde that compliments my skin tone. Additionally, he matched/blended my hair to some extensions that I brought in- giving me amazing dimension and a believable look. He installed my extensions (clip in, but he can literally do anything and I will switch back to tape-in eventually). He cut my extensions to blend with my hair and he gave me an amazing cut. This was my request- so that I can either wear or not wear my extensions. He checked in with me multiple times and he was fun to talk to, soft spoken and TALENTED. He had an assistant who was super sweet who shampooed my hair- she didn't even have to block my eyes for splashes, she was wonderful. Rees listened as I rattled off questions and asked about product. He recommended a super affordable but luxurious product that will work perfectly for me. Finally, if you are out of touch with what is in style or what looks good on you and you make a request that is not in your best interest... Rees will not do it. This is valuable and rare in a stylist. He's not going to take your money and give you a hideous look you think you need. He will help you to understand what is relevant, natural, timeless, and he will accomplish more than you could have because we aren't all professionals. Summary: If you have hair that is hard to handle, if you have extensions, if you are looking for someone who is good at blonde (hard to find, I know) if you have damaged hair, if you are picky, if you want to heal your hair, if you don't want to worry about the skillset of your stylist... go to Rees!
