When considering a mani/pedi while on vacation, do not go to Q Nails as the staff is very unprofessional, rude, and lack of class. The interiors should have been a hint. Long read but worth it as I got the final word in the end. The staff will gossip about you in Vietnamese. I came here with my 7 yo daughter to do pedicures for both of us and gel manicure for me. I asked how much it would be for a child pedicure, she didn't need a "real pedicure" but would like to soak in the water and then get her toenails painted. The male owner (?) asked me how old my child is and I told him 7. He said $7. We were seated for pedicures but they only started on my feet until I asked if she can get water for her pedicure. The other lady beside her started bickering and complaining with the owner about the price and then looked at me and said it's going to be $15 are you ok with that? I said that's fine. It's her first pedicure and I would like her to feel special and have water like me. After that both ladies continued to talk to each other, never once said or made a comment to me or my child except the one time of trying to RE-ask me for my manicure service. And bickering snide comments to the male owner. The entire conversation while getting our pedicures was about the $7 price for the pedicure and how even $15 was too low and now she's not going to get a tip because I won't tip her and it's not worth her time. I guess inquiring about a price conveyed I was a cheap person to the ladies. Shortly after our pedicures started, I asked if someone was still doing my manicure (the male technician said someone would do it simultaneously earlier during our pedicures). There was a whole discussion in the nail shop about that. Another customer walks in and needed services so the lady servicing my daughter said they won't have time anymore. But somewhere towards the end of my daughter's pedicure she asked me if I was still interested as she can do it after my daughter's pedicure. I told her I thought you were too busy and going to work on the lady who just came in. She said "oh no, I can't do that kind of service for her" referencing it was a kind she didn't work on like a specific type of acrylic or something? I smiled and politely told her no I'm not interested anymore. (Why would I be after you and your co-worker talked bad about me the entire pedicure?!). After my daughter's pedicure, the rude lady started working on the client she said she couldn't work on! Well to be honest, I think she was just starting her prep work so the lady that was working on my pedicure could continue where she left off. Ironically, when we were done, the ruder lady was still at the front next to the male owner and checked me out. She called out our service amounts and added our totals in her head and told me $44. I did the same in my head and the universal look on my face of doing this allowed her to make another comment ("oh, she doesn't believe you and she doesn't even want to pay $44" to her co-worker who is now across the room working on the new client"). I paid by credit card, so when she handed me the diad for adding the tip, I gave it to her. I told her that I found it very rude that she would have the odasity to talk about people so awfully. I calmly and sternly told her how I understood EVERY word she and her co-worker said in Vietnamese and how this entire time, all you were doing was talking bad about my daughter, me and complaining about pricing and tipping in Vietnamese. She denied it at first but was not startled. She was more startled that I understood Vietnamese because I guess she never bothered to ask if I knew any other languages since I spoke English fluently with the staff and without any accents. LOL. Clients around her heard me and was astonished!! I saw one lady's jaw drop which made me happy. Then she muttered sorry as she saw I still haven't signed the tip line yet. I said I didn't want to ruin this first experience for my daughter so didn't say anything till now and your tip would have been a lot more if your mouth wasn't so dirty. I thanked her in Vietnamese and walked out with my daughter. I hated that my daughter saw the entire confrontation and had debated during the pedicures if I was going to ask her to step outside or have her watch me confront a bad situation in the end during our pedicure. In the end, I'm glad she watched it and explained to her in the car about it. Driving back to our condo, we went to LY's nails to finish our manicures. We both got gel manicures and our service there was very professional. LY's nails has been in Fernandina for over 26 years. The inside of the store itself has been maintained much better than Q Nails. So if you want better service and a nicer environment, definitely do not go to Q Nails. It's a hole in the wall nail salon and we only went because we were at the Dollar Store to pick up a lighter for s'mores and whimsically went there first due to convenience.

I was on vacation when I decided to get my nails done. When looking for places nearby I saw that Q Nails had great reviews. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Steven suggested I try ombré nails which was something I had never tried before. I was open to suggestions so I went for it. He even showed me what he would do on one nail first just to make sure I would like the look. I loved it! Steven is dedicated and takes pride in his work. I am sad I do not live closer. If so this would be my go to spot! Great experience. Great quality.

I go to get my nails done with my cousins and we walk in and people were on there phones they cut my nails so short they fell so weird service was okay but they were kinda rude.

The floors, stations, and tools appeared visibly neglected, and there was no meaningful effort to sanitize between clients because of "time". Within days of my visit, I developed a painful staph infection, which required medical treatment. I can't state this with absolute certainty, but the timing and symptoms strongly point back to unsanitary conditions at this salon. That alone should be enough for anyone to reconsider stepping through the door. The service quality was equally poor. The technician rushed through the appointment, ignored basic requests, and offered no attention to detail. The manicure and pedicure were sloppy, uneven, and far below professional standards. When I raised concerns, the response was dismissive, almost irritated that I expected better. What makes this even more infuriating is the pricing. Ocean Nails charges premium rates, but delivers bargain-basement quality. For these incredibly high prices, customers deserve sterilized tools, safe facilities, and skilled, respectful service. Ocean Nails delivered none of the above. I will not return, and other customers should prioritize their health, time, and money elsewhere.

I chose a pink sparkly dip color from those books. Later, when it was time for color, I was told that shade was not available, so I picked another color, still under the assumption we were doing dip. Near the end of the service, I realized he was doing a gel acrylic process instead of dip powder. I had never had dip before, so I did not immediately recognize the steps, but once I did, I spoke up. He then claimed he "didn't know," which does not make sense given that I stated the service at check-in and selected from dip powder books. At that point, instead of acknowledging the mistake, multiple staff members insisted it was my fault and still attempted to charge me. I was also told I could leave with my nails partially done and not have to pay, but this came only after the situation had escalated and become circular. Looking back, the color situation raises concerns. I selected a dip powder color from a dip book, yet was told it was not available. Given that the service being performed had shifted to gel without being confirmed, it suggests the color may have been treated as unavailable because it did not fit the service they had already started, rather than because it did not exist. The interaction then became repetitive and unproductive. I was told over and over that it was my fault because I came in with acrylic on my nails, even though I had clearly requested removal and a different service. The technician also kept repeating that the service "would have been $60," which had nothing to do with the issue. I was initially willing to tip because I understood time had been spent, but it became clear that responsibility was being redirected instead of addressed. The only reason this situation fully resolved without escalation is because another customer stepped in and offered to pay. The salon itself did not correct the mistake or take responsibility. Dip powder and gel acrylic are completely different services. At no point was a change in service confirmed with me, despite choosing from dip powder books and requesting dip from the beginning. This is not a simple misunderstanding. It follows a pattern: perform a different service, avoid confirming the change, and when questioned, deny awareness, repeat irrelevant points, and shift responsibility onto the customer to justify payment. Be very clear about what you want and watch the process closely from the start if you come here. Even though I ultimately didn't have to pay, I'm still so pissed because they look awful and I will now have to go through this whole process again in the next couple of days but this time, It will be awful getting them roved because they are fresh. I can't believe this.
