I saw the warning to ask for the cost ahead of time and was told "I will tell you at the end." I asked why I couldn't know beforehand and the tech said "I dont know what nail shape you want." To which I responded "short and very narrow." we argued about the price for a bit because I didn't understand why the Cat-Eye nail design was $70 a $30 upcharge. I was told "because you have to get Gel." The price on the board for a full set showed $40 so the jump to $70 felt absurd but I obliged because I had an interview that week and it was my birthday so I figured "I'll splurge". After my nail shape was complete, I was confused- because they were not at all narrow. I asked "can you make them more narrow?" And was told- point blank- "No. Because narrow nails trap water." I insisted that I often wear narrow nails and was told that tech has been doing nails for a long time. Whatever that means. I was tired of arguing even though before they started work- I specifically stated that I wanted very narrow- short nails. Moving forward, we proceed to polish with the cat eye. The process for that, is literally painting a polish on top of the nail (not at all worth a $30 upcharge). After two nails were painted, I noticed the color was significantly darker than anticipated. Most salons will paint your nail and show you- this tech was simply just slapping the paint on. I didn't want to complain but as mentioned- these would be interview nails- so I spoke up and asked for a different color. The tech was very upset. Only two nails were painted, and with one coat! I'm allowed to dislike it And there was NO ONE ELSE IN THE SALON with an extra tech watching her polish me. I picked out a second color and after one nail was painted I realized- that cat eye color was not translating on my short FAT nails. It came off very old lady- so I apologized and said "I am so sorry. I will pay whatever- please take it off. And just give me a regular nude pink polish." The tech GOT UP with an attitude and walked away to collect herself. I was not rude at all. I knew changing coats a third time would be annoying which is why I told her to charge me whatever- but at the end of the day- they are providing a SERVICE. They were nasty when I came in. Dishonest with pricing. And the salon is not clean. This was one of the most awkward encounters I've had at a salon. And my "birthday"/interview nails were a mess. Such a shame because the Union City location has my whole heart! They are professional, clean, and accommodating and my minimum 25% tip + previous review to there shows that. This salon needs to clean up their salon and their attitudes. Avoid them at all costs.

The eyebrow threading was totally different than I expected, it was like the rolled the thread to remove the hairs. During some parts I was asked to pull the skin to allow better access, required both my hands. It wasn't painful but I did feel twinges 2-5 minutes after it was all done. I loved the results. I have no idea if it's better or worse than eyebrow waxing but I was there for a new experience so didn't really care. Again, the results are just as good as waxing. I then went for the ear wax pull, I'd read about it but wasn't sure how real it was. At the end of the day the straws had ear wax and honestly, the ear that I heard the most sizzle had the most ear ax in the straw. It didn't give me super hearing but it was interesting to do and see. I'll definitely return for eyebrow threading and maybe a facial next time too.
